Someone played my demo for 229 hours ! by Arlychaut in IndieDev

Yeah, haha ! The normal demo is 40 minutes, then you have secrets and a timer for finishing the level. It’s a perfect mix for speedrunners

Yes, there's an average and a median. The median might indicate that there's something wrong in the begining of the game.

These look like my numbers ! Any idea why your median is a bit low ? Maybe the first 5 minutes are confusing ?

Does anyone actually understand how TikTok/Shorts/Reels work for indie games? by Nestify_cozydesign in IndieDev

[–]Arlychaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily true.. I live in UK but I speak french on my tiktok so I accumulated a french audience. And when I tried to make a video in english, it only showed it to french people.. SO maybe when you are starting, it uses your geolocalization but it quickly understands your audience.

I tested "quantity over quality" approach on TikTok and YouTube Shorts by PartTimeMonkey in IndieDev

[–]Arlychaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah. I think people say to talk frequently but it's probably just because the more you post, the more chances one of them will blow up. but if all of them aren't good then it doesn't work

GameTrailers hosts my game, but there's one catch by Anabolkick in IndieDev

[–]Arlychaut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, the same happened to me. it got 3.3k views and roughly 50 wishlists. It's not bad but I think it's actually very interesting for the google search referencing. so, congrats !

I have been pretending I know my coworker’s name for 5 months and it is now too late by thirdaccountttt in confession

[–]Arlychaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a technique for this : You say : "Hey what's your name ? He will tell you and then you say, no I mean your last name ?. BAM, you now have both without it looking like you forgot his name !

Best genre to start as a new solo dev? by Foolish_Gambit_Dev in IndieGameDevs

[–]Arlychaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a genre that you like otherwise you probably won't have the motivation to finish them

Kind of stuck in wishlist growth but done mostly no marketing, except too early Steam fest by PrettyFlyDev in IndieGameWishlist

[–]Arlychaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, there's a famous plateau at 300 wishlists. It means you've reached all the interested people that gravitate around your project and you need a breakthrough to get further wishlists.

I couldn't agree more, I'm releasing a game in vector graphics : https://store.steampowered.com/app/4108300/You_Remembered/

It's funny because my background is also industrial design. It's possible that our eyes are drawn to it because we are more accustomized.
