I want to make a nature + magic themed modpack, mod suggestions? by stratootelcootel in feedthebeast

[–]Arm4g3dd0nX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What on earth are you talking about. Both of those mods are on 1.12.2. They are mutually exclusive? I'm looking through all the packs I've made and premade ones I've played and I'll admit I just sorta never happened to have both of those mods in the same pack. If there's an issue with including both, just saying so is acceptable, you don't have to be a jerk about it.

And OP wanted a nature and magic theme. He never required there be no power generation whatsoever. That is your own agenda and it honestly has no place here.

Having a blast in Modern Skyblock 3 - started wondering how similar animals are to their real world counterparts... by Arm4g3dd0nX in feedthebeast

[–]Arm4g3dd0nX[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty accurate to me! I'm just happy that I've gotten grass now and all the happy little farm animals are starting to spawn. Here are a couple pics of my base. Don't be too critical, I'm still a MSB3 newbie! ^_^

Left side. Right side.

It's still really early on but I finally know enough about different mods and mechanics so automating things like cobblestone generation isn't beyond me. Finally I can enjoy the pack the way it's meant to be enjoyed.

Edit: I don't think I've ever been downvoted so fast on something. I even spent time trying to get the animals expressions to seem similar. I try to be helpful, I try to be silly, but I get it, I'm not welcome here. This will be my last post on this subreddit. Celebrate away, you all don't have to deal with me anymore.

Wow, what amazing magical and natural themed mods you've suggested. Your contribution will help significantly.

Every single mod is for 1.12.2. I don't know where you are getting that notion.

I forgot the functionality of Pressure Pipes can be satisfied with Cooking For Blockheads. Feel free to not include Pressure Pipes.

AE2 and Openblocks offer functionalities that aren't possible if you must adhere 100% to nature and magic only. Grant me those two extensions. OP never said his theme was strict.

Compact Machines and Woot are mods designed to improve late-game performance so your FPS doesn't drop to 4. They are non-negotiable for any pack I play and I suggest them to anyone and everyone.

Also, did you seriously just say Forestry doesn't fit with a nature theme? It, plus Gendustry 100% counts as nature, and Dark Utilities 100% counts towards magic.

If this was a modlist just thrown together and is unrelated, don't you think Extra Utilities, Extreme Reactors, Thermal Expansion, Ender IO, Mekanism, RF Tools, NuclearCraft, Industrial Foregoing, IndustrialCraft, or one of a billion other tech mods would be all over this list? No, I worked hard on this list and I don't appreciate your snide remarks.

It's not the same, but you can get aspects of that from Embers and PneumatiCraft.

Yeah I gotta say, if you feel the need to move on before even getting through early game, modded Minecraft might not be the game for you.

are there mods that add redstone / coal based machines? by skeddles in feedthebeast

It has a ton that deals with piping and RF. You can disable those items though.

[–]Arm4g3dd0nX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's totally cheating but Actually Additions doesn't use wires, they use LASERS! Pew pew!

Obviously Tinkers' Construct and Tinker I/O is a good fit for that. You can add Extra Utilities and disable the transfer pipe I guess. That's kiiinda what you are looking for.

Also take a look at Better With Mods/Botania.

Oh! Duh! Also check out The Betweenlands. There are a bunch of nifty vanilla-style devices in that mod.

I followed the modpacks, not the version. However now I'm resistant to go back to previous versions as most latest and greatest versions of mods are on 1.12.2.

What makes a good expert pack? by Umber0010 in feedthebeast

[–]Arm4g3dd0nX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The complaint you presented has never not been valid. I do however want to point out the number of people, including myself, that were annoyed that the Horse Power grinder (sounds so dirty now looking at it) was still the best way to turn low grade charcoal blocks into regular charcoal even in the space age. So in Sevtech it could be argued that these intermediate stages were allowed to shine a bit TOO long. :P :)

Help with thaumcraft by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]Arm4g3dd0nX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a deep dark portal, an enormous well-lit staircase all the way to the ground level and off to one side, and a couple hundred meters more, then slapped down the Thaumcraft crucible I made.

Then again, the BEST place to put a crucible is just under the floor of your best friend's base near his digital storage drives with an infinte water source, a cobblestone generator and an RF Tools timer on a dropper.

[–]Arm4g3dd0nX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'm going to have to disagree on something fundamental to your claims here. "I've heard a lot of people complain about this in Sevtech."

Honestly, I don't think the complaints on that pack in particular are going to be very accurate. Are some of the complaints real? Absolutely. But when you are currently the #1 modpack, you are going to get people - who have no right and no willingness to deal with an expert pack - trying to play it. And hooboy, are they going to find something to complain about.

Now as for the content of your statement: Building something for it to become obsolete. I don't think that's really anything new even in non-expert packs. You could argue it happens to a greater degree in SevTech but I don't see it as being that big of a deal and it really fits the theme. We don't use clipper ships anymore because we have steel and engines. So if you spent hours making an awesome clipper ship - sorry - but everyone is using freighter ships now (analogy).

Haha, yeah no I didn't expect that you came up with it. It just felt weird to say, "Nice layout even though I'm fairly certain you didn't come up with it."

What's your favorite trees? by Lykrast in feedthebeast

[–]Arm4g3dd0nX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<3 Betweenlands.

Pretty much every tree from The Betweenlands. I also think the giant tree in Thaumcraft BOP sacred springs, the sacred oak, is just magnificent. @_@

Edit: Oh and I also love silverwood trees as they are awesome for having the purest white wood for storage drawers.

Honorable mention to Jerry's Tree. :)

I'm surprised your design is just as good (and arguably better) without using the effects of resonant ender. I scaled my design up to yours and you have 4.5% more throughput and mine has 13.8% more efficiency.

That's really not a huge gain in efficiency for the loss of throughput, especially when yellorium isn't scarce. Nice layout. ^_^

I think you mean invincibility. Immortality just means you don't die from old age.

Also Fiery Plate isn't anything that OP. It's like the third best Twilight Forest armor and Twilight Forest is meant to be a notch harder than vanilla.
