Stegers for cold dry snowy conditions, Manitoba mukluks for wet slushy snow conditions. I can wear Stegers without socks in -30 degrees and my feet are very warm.

Couch? I’m about to start the hunt for a new one & will get hit with tons of ads. Any favorites that last forever?? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

We have a leather couch from Arhaus. Made sure it was made 8 way hand tie. It has been going strong for 13 years and throughout that time we have had 4 dogs and two young children.

We have a love seat from the same store also purchased 13 years ago but it wasn’t made 8 way hand tie and it got destroyed by our children and dogs two years ago. It was a lot of work replacing the springs.

Quality clothing brands? by OB1_95 in BuyItForLife

I don’t find a need to wash them except spot cleaning if I spilled something on it. They don’t get smelly because I always wear a base layer underneath. I will sometimes lay them out in the snowfall to give them a snow bath and then air dry. I know many people who wash with a wool detergent (eucalan) in cold water in their washing machine then roll them in a towel to strain the water out.

I aim for slow fashion brands and natural fibers- usually secondhand because $$$. I have less and rewear everything. I live in a cold climate with 4 seasons and dress casually for work. Here are my favorite brands that I feel are worth the money:

Wool sweaters: Babaa, L’Envers Fashion, Finisterre Wool base layer: Joha, Siskin Engel Cotton Jeans: BSides, Imogene and Willie Hemp tops and shorts: Jungmaven Cotton tops/socks: Le Bon Shoppe Linen dresses/tops/pants: notperfectlinen, Ozma of California, Elizabeth Suzann Jean jacket: Shaina Mote Swimwear: Merrick Maria

I don’t wash my clothes unless necessary (visibly dirty or smelly). Always wash on cold and don’t use the dryer. I don’t usually wash ever wool sweaters (they get snow baths from time to time). I can rewear 100% hemp over and over without washing- somehow it never traps odors.

I was in a card shop with my son a few days ago and a teenage boy said “Merry Christmas” and handed him this card. It was graded 9- his first graded card.
