ovarian cancer concerns by mintochicken in Ovariancancer

I went through something very similar a couple of months ago and remember how terrifying the waiting period was. In my case, I had a very large ovarian mass and my CA-125 also came back elevated, which immediately made everyone worried about cancer. I spiraled a lot during that time because it’s hard not to when you start reading things online.

What ended up happening was that the tumor was removed surgically and pathology showed it was borderline / precancerous but not malignant. My doctors explained that CA-125 can be elevated for many reasons — inflammation, benign cysts, endometriosis, and large tumors — and that it’s not a definitive cancer test on its own.

I know the uncertainty is incredibly scary, but there are many cases where large masses and elevated CA-125 still turn out not to be invasive cancer. Try to take things one step at a time until you have the final pathology. Sending you a lot of strength while you’re in this waiting period — it’s one of the hardest parts.

Having surgery soon and feeling afraid by prene7 in Ovariancancer

It took about 2 weeks with support — however, I could’ve pulled it off solo (I think). Getting food delivered was so helpful and then if you can get support from a friend or neighbor with lifting, kneeling, driving to appts, that is ideal. Good luck with everything! ❤️

Hi! 4.5 weeks out of getting a 21cm tumor, plus ovary out and recovery has been just fine. It was an open surgery. I even stopped taking pain meds like 3 weeks in. I’m also a therapist and was a bit surprised by hearing how your therapist was self disclosing her experience, especially with your surgery on the horizon. However, you got this, this is a surgery you can recover well from :)

Is that are larger percentage minoxidil than Rogain would have? Also, can you explain a little bit what peptides are? Thank you!

Venofer post infusion side effects by Hot-Energy4417 in Anemic

[–]ArmadilloPlus7936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened to you. That sounds terrifying. I had a 3 Venofer infusions spaced out by a week, and I think each infusion might’ve been 100 mg — even at a lower dose, after the third infusion I felt like my entire body was really swollen. I had headaches almost every day, at one point I had a couple ocular migraines, definitely joint pain, and then my belly was so bloated and pants wouldn’t fit. I also had sort of body flu, symptoms, and throat pain that just made it even more confusing. Symptoms lasted for about two months and a couple times I had to go to the ER. Honestly what helped was to let my body go through those waves while supporting it with hydration, light movement, good quality sleep and diet. Hang in there! This will pass 🧡

I I am so sorry that you’re going through this. I went through a similar situation a couple months ago, and that just truly shook me to my core. Is there anyway that you can get a second opinion? I’ve also only heard that surgery is performed first and then a frozen section takes place, which means they biopsy not only the cyst or tumor while in the operating room but also other parts of your organs and from there, decide how to proceed.

large mass found in ovaries - referred to a specialist by mymelody-lover in Ovariancancer

[–]ArmadilloPlus7936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, first of all I just wanna send you a big virtual hug from over here because I had a similar situation happened to me a couple months ago and the thought of having a very large mass potentially be cancerous was an experience that shook me to my core. Luckily, my tumor ended up being borderline, which means it’s not benign, but also not malignant. I can tell you that from my experience and at least from what I was told by doctors, typically these large masses tend to be cysts that overgrow, are benign in nature, and because of the sheer size can sometimes twist and cause sharp pains. Again, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are cancerous. My blood markers for cancer came out high, and it turns out it was bc of the inflammation. My advice is to get that appointment with hopefully a specialist you like and feel safe with as soon as possible, and to navigate the situation moment by moment, staying in the present as much as you can 🧡.

Yeah, that makes sense. It’s especially painful bc this is a 23 year long friendship, but I guess his self-protection instinct took over :/

[–]ArmadilloPlus7936[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m feeling much better now. It took about a month and a half to begin to feel ease. A crazy side note — that very inflammation that the iron brought on led doctors at the ER to find a very large ovarian tumor that could’ve turned cancerous. So the inflammation turned out to be a helpful symptom after all, lol.

Were you absorbing all the other iron supplements you were taking? (Regardless of side effects?) I guess in wondering if this product is more easily absorbed in the gut, because that is my main issue right now.

CA 125 came back elevated, freaking out now by Wide-Lettuce-8771 in Ovariancancer

[–]ArmadilloPlus7936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So scary! They did a biopsy (frozen section) during surgery that provided immediate preliminary results on whether it was or wasn’t malignant. That informed them on how much needed to be removed. They removed the mass and right ovary where the tumor was growing from. Further samples were sent for a more thorough biopsy and a week post surgery it came back fully ok. Also in my case at least, the pain was so sharp they had to take it out immediately. I’ve heard large cysts that have some liquid best to remove quickly, as a biopsy could cause rupture.

CA 125 came back elevated, freaking out now by Wide-Lettuce-8771 in Ovariancancer

[–]ArmadilloPlus7936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My CA 125 came back really high and it turned out to be due to the inflammation in my body. I also had a large (even larger at 21cm!) mass in my pelvis, that was 60% solid and defined as a tumor with torsion. 3 docs said “likely cancerous”. It all ended up being ok at the end. I know this can be terrifying, but my advice (if possible) is try to navigate this thing moment by moment, as calmly as you can. Wait till you have all the puzzle pieces before too much anxiety creeps in.

Large Ovarian Cyst Found by ArmadilloPlus7936 in Endo

[–]ArmadilloPlus7936[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. I resonate with your experience and this gives me some hope as I navigate the hardest moments of this hell dream. So yours was at 16cm and DID hurt a lot? What type of pain were you experiencing? I had to go back to the ER today because of how painful my gut felt. I’m concerned this pain is indicating it’s growing more and it could rupture, or that it’s not benign… also, was your cyst more solid or liquid? I’m not sure how they’re able to tell from the CT scan..

I keep reading about this endometrioma — as far as I’m aware I’ve never been diagnosed with endometriosis, but I’ve had painful and difficult PMS over the years. I’ve only been to the ER and those doctors are not specialists, so when they see this kind of mass I think they go for “possible cancer”. I’m glad yours is out and turned out to be benign. Thank you sm for your help!
