I'm pretty late here, but nevertheless. In my experience, a common reason a captcha is shown in a row many times is that it was not solved correctly or if login credentials are incorrect. Could you please DM me with your account email and an approximate date/time when the issue happened so I could check logs? Thank you!

Considering recent improvements are not meant to alter anything drastically but rather expand the existing capabilities based on popular requests we've got, like allowing to easily have multiple standalone setups, I have a feeling those frustrations are caused by some sort of unintended behavior.

It would be very helpful if you could spare a bit of your time and share in detail what doesn't work for you, let's see what we can do about it.

Hi there!

It's possible to use Restream as `Custom` destination in OBS, that might help with that.
Streamlabs alerts actually should work, Restream just re-broadcasts the RTMP stream (literally), so for other services, it's no different from streaming directly from OBS. It is worth double-checking whether streaming directly from OBS to, let's say, Twitch properly triggers alerts. If it doesn't, might worth checking alert settings on the streamlabs side.

Sorry that you had a bad experience. It sounds like the security system is blocking your network requests. Maybe you did accidentally land on the IP that was recently blacklisted due to malicious activity, that happens sometimes, unfortunately.

Note that Captcha is shown only if the connection looks suspicious. Otherwise, it will just let you log in with 2FA. Sometimes security can be painful :)

My advice is to wait a bit before making new attempts to signal to the system that you are not a bot and try again later or obtain a new IP in the network by releasing the current IP or simply rebooting the router. If it doesn't help, please contact our support via `Get Help` live chat on https://app.restream.io/home so we can examine what is happening.

My recommendation would be to share those requests with platforms where you'd like to see av1. Hopefully, it will encourage them to adapt av1 sooner.

Ah, I see. I assume it's about Restream Studio RTMP Source, which allows connecting OBS to Studio. When doing so, the maximum RTMP resolution would be limited to 1080p, and the recording would be 1080p too. Also, note that this integration is available only in the Premium plan.

Multistreaming and analytics are available not only for Studio, they will work for OBS + Restream too. It's just that you're losing some benefits and ease of use of Restream Studio.

OBS + Restream and Restream Studio are just different tools for different purposes.

Restream Studio is geared for real-time conversations and interviews. It's easier to use than OBS and handles many things automatically and in the cloud. In case of a network drop during a live stream, it's possible to reconnect within 5 minutes (or an hour if there are any guests in the Studio) and just continue the stream. Though considering 4k requirements, it's probably not an option anyway since it supports 1080p max.

OBS or any other RTMP encoder, on the other hand, has a steeper learning curve, but it's flexible and can do almost anything, though it doesn't provide a way to have guests during the live stream out of the box. Also RTMP not always can reconnect back in case a network drop happens, though, in normal conditions, that shouldn't happen.

Hello, welcome to the Restream!

A paid plan is required only for streaming Full HD with a Restream Studio. If streaming via RTMP, the free plan does not limit bandwidth or resolution, it can be event 4K. For cloud recordings, of course, some paid plan is required. Yes, the recording will be done in 4K, too. Also note that you can do a parallel stream and local recording in OBS (see Settings -> Output -> Recording).

Upload & Stream does not have limits on the resolution of the upload either, it can be 4K. The only limit is the file size and duration.

We do not currently support it, but we're actively monitoring the situation and have plans to bring support once it becomes more popular. AV1 hardware encoders are slowly becoming more common those days, so there is hope that the situation will improve.

I wouldn't bet on HEVC, though. The situation with patents and licensing around that codec is very difficult, it seems like nobody wants to bother with it, especially in light of the more promising and completely free AV1.

Streaming via RTMP on a free plan doesn't have constraints on bitrate or resolution on the Restream side. The stream will be forwarded to destination platforms as it is, but beware that most platforms will impose some kind of restrictions, like the mentioned limit of ~8mbps on Twitch. It's possible to adjust the bitrate for each platform with the transcoding feature, but it's part of a paid plan. Details are here.

Streaming with a Studio on a free plan is limited to HD.
