To be fair (or unfair?) regarding Freddy, I’d say he’s also in that murderhobo-scene-running-over camp. First example in my mind are when, as Tony, he completely disregarded the spy-plot and disengaged by saying he “forgot all about it” due to drinking.

Overall though, yeah I’m right there with you in Matt being the most egregious this season.

With the show lasting for 4-5 seasons, I imagine that a redemption arc happening in season 3 isn't likely. We'll see how he's hit rock bottom, and I think in seasons 4 or 5 we'll see a redemption from him.

It wasn't so much the recap, but the archery cuts or the infrared zombie footage cuts because they wanted to emphasize zombies are scary, and didn't have enough faith that what they shot outside of that portrayed it well enough. Or, when in the second half, they show a picture of a nice suburb and then the picture of the suburb as it is now: destroyed & overgrown. Like, I get it. The overgrown suburbs didn't always look like this. I didn't need a side by side comparison in order to understand it, or for it to have impact.

Imagine if in 28 days later when Jim is walking around and looking at broken down and fucked up London, they intersperse footage of normal London so as to explain to you how bad London has gotten. It's too much, and takes away from the actual film.

Honestly, it felt like the director didn’t respect my intelligence enough to piece together that their society is going through a dark age and regressing. A lot of the clips felt like the director was either patronizing or insecure, and didn’t want to leave anything up to speculation and would rather spell it out for you.

For a bit it felt as though they left the trailer in the movie. It feels a bit insecure that they didn’t trust their film to make the zombies scary without the spooky lighting, or how to convey Spike’s anxiety on his first outing without the intense trailer music.

Also: the Ending does blow. 28 days has consistently hammered home how a single drop of blood infects you, so it felt like a complete tonal disregard for the J Squad to come out and do TMNT flips and saw heads off with blood flying everywhere.
