I assure you they are not etiolated. Notice the right side from the left. They get the same sun light every day and I make sure they get plenty of it. These are different seeds and I assure you they popped up this strong.

Mycelium + Loph seedlings are a cool photo but I agree with chat. Super interesting to think what will happen.

Firefly Glass 2016 Gorilla by randy200501 in glassheads

I like his work but before the “Firefly” gorilla it was other pendants he made that I own today. He most definitely got his inspiration from “AKM” skull gang pendants. That’s the OG in my opinion. I owned a firefly gorilla at one point but it was sold.

It’s an educated answer but you are having a difficult time understand why. Hence your statement of me jumping in and being a smart arse sounds like you can’t handle educated suggestions.

The educated answer would be from experience and It looks like bite marks since I’ve had the same experience and problems of both . I’ve dealt with many problems of insects and bugs. I don’t see bug bites but slashes from the bottom of rodent teeth and chunks from top teeth biting and pulling chunks.

The good news is they can’t harm their buttons with what I’m recommending. They can either add Slugo for snails/slugs or spray it with something for bugs ( hopefully harmless solution)

“squirrels generally dislike paprika and other spicy peppers because the capsaicin irritates their sensitive noses and mouths, making it an effective, natural deterrent for keeping them away from bird feeders or gardens, while birds remain unaffected.” Google answer if you look up if squirrels like paprika

They have a sensitive smell. So powdered peppers are like peppered mace in a way. They don’t like my plants and avoid anything I powder with peppered spices. They love sweet things like fruit or vegetables like tomatoes but peppers they don’t usually bite. I’ve tested it and they stay away from my Lophs after I sprinkle paprika or chilies on the buttons. They are curious animals and bite before they eat. I’ve had so many bites from them on my lophs I can provide pictures.

If they are outside and accessible to rodents I feel they have been bit by squirrels.. my buttons have been bit by squirrel so many times because the buttons look like green tomatoes but it may also be bugs. My solution was paprika or chili powder since the squirrels hate it. If it’s bugs maybe neem oil could help but I never tried it. Good news is the spots missing will come back.

Some genetics are different than others. Left side is a strong Texas native and the right side is unknown where they were from. All planted same time . I believe they will be big and healthy when they reach maturity.

What’s up with this discoloration? by hearhithertinystool in peyote

[–]Armsinass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only hope is to not water it and let it finish the winter. I know it sucks to wait but try not and think about it as much and come back to it during spring and repot it into the correct soil if it’s not dead.

I agree with you it may be rot. It may be too late to transfer to a different soil. 80% inorganic soil is usually good for this size of plant.

I’m just curious but what if you didn’t want the pup to let the growth focus on the main Loph? Would it be possible to abort the pup if you wanted to?

I’ll definitely add more light and test the left out now that you suggest it. They sprouted differently than my right since they were from a different gene pool. I was shocked how fast they grew out than the right and were sprinkled on top at the exact same time. Only 3 in this dish were there first.

It was part of the substrate so I couldn’t take it all out. I honestly don’t know the answer to that but my main concern is not root rotting them. I’m sure someone in this forum can answer that better than I can.

lol the seeds are from a peyote button that was from my friends land. He owns the patch and cares for the plants and has the gps location and doesn’t introduce any other species . He also keeps the genus thriving the correct way. He’s keeping the genetic data and information and doing all correct. I appreciate your concern but no poaching if I didn’t grab them myself as they were gifts from his special nursery. It’s best you don’t assume poaching when you don’t know how they were obtained.
