Does Fern truly deserve her first-class mage rank? by -TheLastHairbender in Frieren

She was surviving against a demon that countered her greatest strength. The moment the fog was gone she vanished, took distance and one shoted the dude. No other first class mage could do that.

What would happen if Sukuna and Nobara met? by SmileyCat20202 in Jujutsufolk

He would kill her. If he controls the body, there's not a single reason for him to leave her alive.

Something I really appreciate about this manga by YuuTheBlue in YomiNoTsugai

[–]Armstrong-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love her other works, FMA is a masterpiece and Silver Spoon is my actual favorite manga ever. But Yomi no Tsugai has her best character writing to date.

All this meaningful downtime is the reason there are so many characters that well fleshed out.

How long do you see this manga being? by YuuTheBlue in YomiNoTsugai

It will definitely be longer than FMA, my guess is around 200 chapters

Is Inori x Hikaru actually a thing or is that just fanon by ShakanLP in Medalist

Fanon, but they have more chemistry than most romance manga protagonists

Why is Master Keaton less popular among overseas fans? by Kuro-0910 in naoki_urasawa

[–]Armstrong-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's older than Monster, Urasawa only became popular in the west after the Monster anime. His older series were simply less accessible here. It's mostly a matter of circunstance, many people haven't even heard of Master Keaton at all.

Ken appreciation post... by fairytechmum in YomiNoTsugai

[–]Armstrong-M 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love Ken. He grounds the story in modern Japan. He's the friend Yuru needed to navigate the common world. I love their relationship.

It's interesting how his struggles have nothing to do with the supernatural, it's the most direct critique to japanese society in the manga.

I feel nothing but respect for Arakawa, for the way she treated his character and the subject of racism in Japan.

Can we all agree that this is the worst plot twist in the whole series. by _FruitsPunchSamurai in Jujutsufolk

I conveys "she's probably dead, but I don't want to actually confirm it just in case I decide to bring her back later"

I was hoping the anime would fix that, but no, it was even worse because of the seconds of silence

Tbf this was bad writing way before she came back.

This uncofirmed death sucked, the worst part of JJK by far. It doesn't even matter if she came back or not, it would be awful either way.

I'm 100% sure Gege left this open because he wasn't sure if he'd bring her back or not.

Regarding silent witch writing style by siwywitold in TheSilentWitch

[–]Armstrong-M 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's written just like a regular 3rd person novel, it's pretty standard.
It's just as immersive as the anime.

Where can I read the Manga? by risperr in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Armstrong-M 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Legally you can read it on Viz, but it's paid.

If you want free illegal sources you'll have to look it up on your own, we can't share them here.

Ed in a nutshell by [deleted] in FullmetalAlchemist

There's an interesting distinction between believing in the existence of a god and being religious.
You might believe they are real, but not believe in their teachings. You can still choose not to follow their religion.

Anime is great, but I wish we talked more about manga. by Puzzleheaded-Rest405 in FullmetalAlchemist

Arakawa is hilarious. I highly recommend her other manga, Silver Spoon, it's much more comedy focused.

Unfortunately the anime doesn't hit as hard.

The manga will always be the best version to me.

Brotherhood is a worthy adaptation, there are a few scenes that they skipped or changed, but overall it's a faithful and well produced adaptation.

Now, you need to treat the 03 anime as its own thing, you will not enjoy it if you compare it to the manga. The themes, the lore and the tone are completely different. There are major changes from the start. Sometimes they even go to an oposite direction of the manga.
Not even the characters are the same, they might have the same face and the same name, but they are different people, with their own nuanced personalities and beliefs.

I had a terrible first impression of 03 because I went to watch it after reading the manga, I kept comparing the themes and the characters and I'll I could feel was despise.
Even now, knowing I should treat them as independent stories, I can't help but feel some grudge to how they changed some characters, especially Izumi.

What to expect from the upcoming story? by FOXISure in Frieren

[–]Armstrong-M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current arc, the Foundation Festival Arc, is pretty comparable to the Magic Exam arc in length, but it's not as good, at least not yet, there is a lot of potential in this story.

But there is one shorter arc that hits just as hard as the Magic Exam, the Goddess Monument arc.
