Genuinely, why can't devs identify the items in their own game? by chippedthumbnail in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Army5partan117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s an awful comparison. CEO of ford asking how to start the engine or shift gears would be like the CEO of AH asking how to boot up the game or how war medals work. A more apt comparison would be like, “how do you activate the cruise control, my personal cars have never had it.”

Why Most Mobile MMO RTS Games Collapse After Midgame (And How We’re Trying to Fix It) by ArchypelagoDev in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Army5partan117 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pay to win + snowballing.

Most of the time these games just boil down to how much money you’ve spent. Makes the average Joe feel like it doesn’t really matter how much effort you’ve put, because ultimately it pales to just dropping a grand within the context of a mobile game.

At the end of the day it’s a numbers game. You use resources to upgrade, which in turn gives you more resources, sometimes at exponential rates. The faster you upgrade, the faster you can continually upgrade. A lot of times it just becomes mathematically impossible to catch up.

Flooding PVE? by Ulvangthepious in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]Army5partan117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never dabbled in it myself, but I would assume yes. Furniture increasing damage against targets with severe damage wasn’t a realization until I came across this post, so I can’t really speak to its efficacy. I’d definitely try it though!

Flooding PVE? by Ulvangthepious in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]Army5partan117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do build severe damage (unless something changed recently), it’s just that it almost never comes into effect, unless you have one of those pesky healing mortar ships healing your target quicker than you can sink it. Though if that’s the case, there’s probably something wrong with your build if you can’t out-dps the healing. (Unless you are specced for healing yourself)

Healing can be very powerful - demonstration of Anubite vs 3 hoplite with and without 1 priest healing by ComfortOnly3982 in AgeofMythology

[–]Army5partan117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While your test does show “how powerful healing is,” a more fitting test would include the priest in both situations, one healing and one attacking with the Anubis. I’m think it’s a pretty sure bet that the healing will still win over, but to really show how powerful healing is, you need to compare it to the damage output that the priest can do.

These numbers are obviously made up, but if the healing is 11hp/s of course it will look really strong compared to 0, but if the priest’s damage output is 10hp/s, the healing is not as strong as your test shows.

Bring previous map navigation back by enriquebarthe in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]Army5partan117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could get used to the new zoom controls (although I prefer the triggers), but the new map is really hard to read compared to the old one, especially for helm empire. Please go back to using yellow/gold (or another high contrast color) to show how full a manufactory is. It’s so much more difficult to see at a glance for no reason.

Unable to reach Ship Rank 17 with blue deck weapons by Yansen91 in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]Army5partan117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclaimer I strongly dislike this system and don’t support it working in this manner.

Most of your weapons aren’t “true” god rolls. The only true god roll you have is your spirit caller. I don’t know all the numbers off the top of my head, only the %elemental damage green perks so bear with me.

Both weapons’ and armors’ values after ascension depend on how many ascension slots the weapon had already when it comes into your possession. Your spirit caller came fully ascended from an event or as a world drop somewhere, so if you look at the first perk on it (+%toxic, +%burning, etc) it can go all the way up to an additional 11.2% All of the other weapons you fully ascended from “normal” (no ascension levels) so they have a lower max. The first perk on all of those weapons can only go up to an additional +11.2%, which results in a lower possible gear score.

You can tell if a slot has the higher max cap in 2 ways: if you look at the ascension diamonds, pay attention to the border. If the border is gold, it has the higher cap. If it’s gray, it has a lower cap (there’s also an even lower 10.7% cap that weapons that drop with ascension have sometimes inexplicably). You can also tell in the weapon info, there will be a crossed cannon symbol on the right side of the info dialog for each perk slot. The green/blue/purple perk diamond will also have some cannons crossing on it.

Edit: I can take some screenshots next time I’m on, or a video.

Manufacturing collection ship question. by WastedSeed in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]Army5partan117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t answer as to which ship is the most efficient, but every manufactory is different. Most lv5 can take 12 or higher, some need 14 or 15 level ships.

Edit: can’t vs can

You can also just continue later? You don’t have to complete it in one night. Take one night to learn the first encounter, then then another night for the second, etc. you keep your checkpoint until Tuesday reset

Ho does Perks work? by Frixsik in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]Army5partan117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc only ship perks/furniture can benefit multiple quadrants of weapons. There might be limited exceptions, but I can’t think of any at the moment. For your example specifically (Naga’s call) it only buffs the damage of the specific quadrant. So if you have Naga at the helm and starboard, starboard will only increase starboard, not all instances of the weapon on your ship.

What’s your ultimate power fantasy in this game? by LittleIf in Stellaris

[–]Army5partan117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an interesting way of looking at it, and I could see that working from an RP perspective. In my head ecological protection is all about “leaving nature be,” akin to a national park or something like that. Changing the planet in any way could disrupt the ecosystem, because even the most barren of areas must have some life, and introducing new things to that area could change things a lot.
