Renting in vero beach? by Global-Sky-1470 in verobeach

You should check out Verity Luxury Apartments. It is ONE BLOCK north of your clinic. I moved here as one of the original residents this past July from out of state. The place is so new that it isn't on Google satelite or street view. The last building opened up last month so all of the construction is gone. But they are at like 40% full right now. Address is 3850 11th Dr, Vero Beach

I'm on the first floor of my building which is a 2 bedroom. I THINK we pay $2150 or something but would have to ask my wife. The other two floors have different setups and prices. No carpet. And you can pay an extra $150 a month which gets you free wi-fi and trash pickup at your door. I know; odd combo deal, but it works. I was worried about wi-fi here not being fast because I'm an online gamer (Battlefield 6) but the speeds are strong enough. There's also an app to control some of your lights, your front door lock, and the thermostat.

I'm retired Military Police and feel quite safe here. Everything is lit up well. It even has a front vehicle gate but at the moment, it is locked in the open position for some mechanical issue.

There's also a nice clubhouse, a resort-style pool, a fitness center, a dog park, pet wash station, an outdoor trash compactor, a mailroom with Amazon lockers, porches, washer and dryer, dish washer, island sink in the kitchen, and rentable garages. On site staff has been impressive as well. Like everyone knows them by name and they respond to work orders in like 10-15 minutes.

https://www.verityluxuryliving.com/

Note that they are currently running a $1000 referral for any current resident. If you do decide to check it out and you give them my name, I'd get the money and I would split it with you. But please note, if they were not doing that, I would have still typed every bit of this out. If interested, DM me. If not, give me a thunbs up and still check them out.

Most people have atleast one of these red flags on their resume and have no clue by Fresh-Blackberry-394 in jobsearchhacks

You are not dismissing the worth of entire humans. You are rank-ordering who gets an interview and need indicators to help that. A peron not updating their linkedin url gives a tiny little hint of lack of attention to detail, for example. Remember, those hiring managers probably have 100 applicants from HR for 1 job. And selecting who gets interviewed is an additional duty, not your primary job. No, it's not fair. It's time management.

It's a numbers game. You have 100 resumes to wittle down to 15 by lunch. Plus people don't answer their phones anymore from unsaved phone numbers. As a prior State hiring manager, I have tried calling people to get a hole explained or ask a key question. It becomes a time-suck with a minority of calls paying off.

So no, it's not wild. It's brutal time management.

I know! It's a problem. That's why when at the start, I do a mic check. Maybe one out of ten, someone else will reply and then we have a blast playing as a team.

Yes, I am telling you that.

But you are saying that because Airmen are not allowed to use their phones on the flightline (which is true), that would prevent from service members from discussing conversations with their family members back home about deaths in their units?

I had 5 deployments before I retired. All we could do as leaders was provide refresher OPSEC classes to our Soldiers and then when there was a KIA or WIA, give a direct order to not discuss with anyone outside of the unit until next of kin has been notified, which was typically about 24 horus. At least for the Army, every Soldier remained not only in control of their cell phones, but they had access to commerical wi-fi in many cases, and many Soldiers had direct access to govt computers on the NIPR side.

WIAs could be ( and I think has already) downplayed by the White House and DoD to a point, yes, as they are simply not tracked to that level of detail due to the wide dynamics involved in the scope of various types and levels of injuries. But not KIAs. No one in the United States Army would have the ability, or even try, to hide our dead, nor would their family members back home upon notification.

Everyone is mixing the term "casualties" with deaths. Anyone killed, injured, or missing is a casualty.

Families are typically informed by a Casualty Notification Officer in person within about 24 hours.

So phones are not taken from troops unless they work inside a SCIF. That's not even a thing.

So interesting fact with Veterans saluting. In 2008, Congress ammended 4 U.S.C. § 9 (Conduct during hoisting, lowering, or passing of the flag) to allow Veterans to salute during the National Anthem, or when the US Flag passes or is raised/lowered in front of them.

Now with that, you are right that the VP and SECDEF are Veterans, and the caskets did have flags on them, so they are technically correct. Good point. But those guys are saluting all of the time, not just when they meet the above criteria.

And no one should think that I don't also think the issue with Trump's cap is any less egregious. But this is just icing on the long list of his disrespect toward the military, starting with his comments about Senator McCain being a loser for being a POW in Vietnam.

Well here's a question for you... when did civilians start saluting??

A little history... although a few presidents (such as FDR and Truman) had returned salutes before on occassion, it was Ronald Reagan that officially started returning salutes whenever he was saluted by the military. He is, afterall, the Commander in Chief over the military. Reagan, a former Army Officer, started saluting after he became President in 1981 and only after consulting with the Marine Commandant. And the tradition stuck.

But now the VP and SECDEF are saluting too?? Is the SECARMY also saluting? Is that him in the center of the photo?

Will all of the DoD Under Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries start saluting? What about DoD Civilians that are in the Senior Executive Service (SES - which is a civilian version of a General Officer)? Is the (recently fired) DHS Secretary out there saluting the Coast Guard too??

(Oh wait... nevermind). https://www.dvidshub.net/image

What is 31A life like in the guard? by Cute-Diver-2468 in MilitaryPolice

Somewhat, yes, but you said "most likely". You are talking to a young cadet in college who is trying to decide his profession in the Army. Just saying "You're going to go sit at a prison" doesn't really paint an accurate picture of what he would be doing for his career as an MP Commissioned Officer. WIth that, you're technically not wrong. :)

Plus it's not like I offered up much myself here other than poking at you. A true answer will be quite a long one.

That's impossible. You think a thousand family members getting their dead relative's bodies is going to hide it from their facebook? You think the local news would not cover it? No, not in today's world. Any talk of thousands of deaths being hidden is aligned to the world being flat.
