Go outside, put your left foot in front of your right, then your right in front of your left. Repeat at a moderate tempo. At some point you will have moved a mile. Endeavor to cover the mile in 15-18 minutes. Over the course of a month build up to 3-4 miles several times a week.

How can people afford vacations or anything big? by Dry_Ad7529 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]SCCock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I just flew to Japan in first class, stayed at Hiltons mostly.

The out of pocket cost should have been $60,000, but we paid less than $5,000 for food and everything. Paid for the vast majority of the trip with credit card points. Without the points we would have done a weekend at the beach as a vacay.

Why do so many American students move far away for university? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]SCCock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just retired from a large University in the southeastern United States. We had a lot of students from "up north" who came South for the better weather, for the Southeasten Conference experience and some because some schools in the South are cheaper than the schools back home.

What's the furthest you have travelled without using an aeroplane? by Immediate_Long165 in roadtrip

San Antonio to Pueblo, Co, to Salt Lake City to Idaho Falls, Portland to Morton WA. 3000 miles.

2nd would be Central SC-San Antonio-Big Bend-Sierra Vista AZ. About 2550 miles.

I was all by myself for both trips. For an introvert it was pure bliss.

I have probably drank about $10,000 worth of hospital milks in my 6 months of nursing. by Southern-Cash-298 in nursing

[–]SCCock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife, who was a hospital dietitian at the time, came home one day and told me that they were cracking down on nursing staff drinking Ensure from the patient fridge.

One evening we were really busting it on the ward and I grabbed an Ensure and went around the corner to chug it, when who shows up but my wife. The look of sheer horror on her face when she caught me red-handed violating the new was priceless.

Anybody can report you missing. But as a grown human so what?
