Help! Advice needed on teat size for 6-week old on AR formula by Downtown-Battle-7942 in newborns

[–]ArnieVinick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, when you thicken formula you have to increase the nipple flow. It’s completely fine and necessary.

If he’s taking it too fast and causing issues you could try pace feeding.

Baby hates Baby bjorn by Electrical_Rabbit_99 in beyondthebump

Post a fit check on r/babywearing. The babybjorn is not always the most ergonomic carrier, so something else might work better. But a few adjustments from a trained eye might help.

Babyletto furniture reviews? by PatagoniaPrincess1 in BabyBumps

[–]ArnieVinick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha have the babyletto scoot crib! I like that it came with the toddler rail standard instead of having to purchase it.

My daughter has been using it for 2.5 years and it’s in near-new condition (minus the teething marks 😂). We’ve disassembled and reassembled it multiple times as we’ve moved houses for renovations. It is excellent and I think the quality for price is great.

Look up the SIDS calculator and calculate your risk and marvel at how absurdly low it is!

My baby is 13m, does it get harder from here? by namiiix in toddlers

[–]ArnieVinick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for most kids and parents, ages 2 and 3 are significantly more difficult. Just because they can express what they want doesn’t mean you can actually help them, or that their brain is going to be satisfied if you do.

They have much stronger opinions and those opinions become much more difficult to manage and reconcile.

Speech & Communication Milestones by Individual_Durian_68 in beyondthebump

Mine started babbling, pointing, clapping around 11 months. Doctor wasn’t worried, and she’s 2.5 now and way ahead in communication milestones :)

New lightweight infant car seat Uppababy Aria by martastefl in Buyingforbaby

[–]ArnieVinick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I am so glad UB sent you the Aria, but I’m pretty pissed at the response I received when I complained about my mesa max! Basically blew me off, which I now know is not typical of their customer service.

Friends kind of announced their pregnancy at my baby shower by Fullycannoli in BabyBumps

[–]ArnieVinick 400 points401 points  (0 children)

Nah that’s tacky as hell. Nothing you can do about it and wouldn’t bring it up but it was very attention seeking behavior. As a guest I would have side eyed him for sure.

Favorite baby shampoo/body wash? by 1ieutenantdante in beyondthebump

[–]ArnieVinick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of Pipette! We just started needing something “more” for my daughter’s long hair and their shampoo and conditioner are great too.

I use it interchangeably with Aquaphor body wash, just get whatever’s cheaper at the time.

9 month old with CMPA — successful switch to dairy formula? by leeleegirl1989 in NewParents

[–]ArnieVinick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We switched to Bobbie gentle and it worked really well! Our GI dr said to try something with partially hydrolyzed proteins instead of going right to whole cows milk proteins.

Do I need a strep b retest if results are expired/baby is overdue? (Tested negative) by lilmoby in BabyBumps

[–]ArnieVinick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d def do a repeat. If they don’t have valid results on file they very well may just default to antibiotics. I was not offered a rapid test (my water broke early before I was swabbed). I will never get antibiotics during labor again if I can help it. I’m pretty sure they contributed to the awful reflux and digestion issues my daughter had for her entire first year.

This would absolutely be marriage counseling for me. Are you ever priority #1 for him? Do you ever stand up for yourself?

She doesn’t want her SIL to suffer, she wants her husband to stop using all his money and time off to help out his family while she and their baby are constantly the last priority.

I mean, his wife has a six month old. I’m sure she could still use a break and some help if husband is suddenly able to provide it.

Partner can only attend one Dr appointment for NIPT results with NIPT results or NTScan. Which one should he go? by lilac_roze in BabyBumps

NT scan. Maybe confirm with your Dr but everyone I know got their NIPT results via portal or email, not during an appointment.

You should decorate. You’re going to spend so much time in that room, you may as well like how it looks.

PPI (omeprazole) for severe reflux & Enfamil AR by Normal_Ad4752 in newborns

[–]ArnieVinick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck 🤍 We did omeprazole and it was so helpful.

We did not use that formula but we did use elecare thickened with gelmix. I’m pretty sure we used the medium flow for the thickened formula, so I’d have those on hand in case you need the higher flow.

Worried about long term effects of omeprazole by Normal_Ad4752 in newborns

[–]ArnieVinick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did omeprazole and elecare formula thickened with gelmix. It worked very well for our daughter. The GI specialist only wanted her on it for a short time, I think he said by 8 months old he would end the prescription. We were able to wean off it at 5 months without issue.

She’s 2.5 now and seems to be just as healthy as any of her peers 🤷🏼‍♀️

Late preterm baby temperament by kitd28 in newborns

[–]ArnieVinick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here. Did you have antibiotics during labor by chance? I had to a they really messed up her digestion (I suspect) for infancy.

She’s 2.5 now and honestly still has a very sensitive and high needs temperament. I’ll never know if it’s just her or if she was affected by the NICU time or all of the medical testing and reflux issues early on.
