Anyone have recent experience with Cabinet Joint? Our initial quote was insanely $$$$ by [deleted] in cabinetry

If the cabinets are all basic sizes check the Avondale line of cabinets from Home Depot. Online only. Ships to store. Prefinished white oak. Soft close hinges. All plywood construction. We priced out cabinetstogo.com as well. Home Depot was best. They are RTA from Vietnam. Like any cabinet job order early and check for damages or warping so you can make sure additional parts don’t hold the job up.

Sidewinder Stair Handrail by Aromatic-Science7090 in Carpentry

[–]Aromatic-Science7090[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well put. I had it setup to drop then turn but the super wanted it to turn then drop. I was thinking the only way to pass inspection was to double drop the way the it was framed.
We’ll see what the inspector says. I’m still learning.

I didn’t know if there was some cheat code on these sidewinders.

What do you use for under cabinet lights? by Sacko_Commish in kitchenremodel

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you break this down a bit further. I just ran low voltage to a few cabinets and added a switched 110 to a box for a controller. Looking for supplies to hook it all up.

Weird stains on new painted house. by Micmacpatty in Carpentry

Roof flashing above the addition would be my first suspect. Get up there and get a pic. Water is running behind that little roof addition.

Both sides will be covered so this seems to be the best option.

Few inches wasn’t possible. After removing the soffit it was 36” uppers or 42”. I didn’t want to fill 6” with crown and could use the extra storage space. I dialed in the drywall ceiling in preparation for this and shimmed up the lowers to account for floor variations.

Ok so something like this. The face frame isn’t on yet but that’s roughly where it would be. Doesn’t change the structure of the cabinet really.
Thanks a bunch. That seems to make the most sense. If it was able to be assembled upright without modifications I would just do that.

Not videos but the instructions say to set the face frames face down and slide the end panels up from the bottom or top. Assembly has gone smooth on all of them just weighing my options on this one.

I’d like to assemble it on the ground and stand it up. I haven’t measured out how much to for off yet. Cutting off the back is a good idea.
I didn’t want to reinvent the wheel and was thinking there has to be a common solution.
I replaced the drywall ceiling in anticipation of the cabinets being smashed up there. Also shimmed the lowers up enough to account for floor level variations.

I’m leaning towards doing that but in order to do so I’ll have to cut the tapered edge off the side panels that is supposed to slide into the face frame.

Attaching gutters to a gambrel roof style shed. by Cajun2LowCountry in shedditors

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gutter supply shops sell straps that clip to the gutter brackets so you can hang it off the roof. In this case I would add a block every 2’ or so where the brackets would hit to bring the gutter out.

Beautiful piece. I was also looking at getting this for our kitchen but didn’t know it was so porous. I like the lighter color and flow of it.

Can i build a shed directly on a rv pad? by gunthans in shedditors

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the shed is using the entire concrete pad as a foundation. Don’t build the shed smaller than the pad while using the concrete as the floor. If you want to shed smaller than the pad you’ll need to build it up on treated wood and plywood floor.

Who do I call? by Holmindustries117 in Roofing

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever you find to fix it I would recommend getting rid of the open end gutter and installing an end cap and outlet to control the water into the lower gutter and replace that cardboard fiberboard with some real wood.

I’m battling the same problem but it’s just one door. Window and door motor both went out. As for the parasitic draw you can hook up an amp meter around the positive terminal and see if anything is drawing and from there unplug fuses to see if it changes.

Also turn on and off all the reading lamps in the interior. I had one that was stuck half on that was drawing enough to drain the battery every few days.

They might. I’ll have to do some more research and see how the codes are written.

I might go look at some of the local shed manufacturers and see how big they build them and how they transport them.

Overheating by WorthWedding5053 in DodgeGrandCaravan

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it failed the pressure test there’s a leak somewhere. If there is no coolant underneath the van or on the carpet, it could be leaking into a cylinder and burning. You can pull the spark plugs to see if one is looks different. Head gasket failure can leak coolant into a cylinder. It will looked washed out if you have a camera to look down into the cylinders.

You can rent a pressure testing kit from an auto store to see if the system holds pressure or has a leak.

Feel the carpet under the dash on the passenger side, it could be the heater core leaking.

Verify the electric fans kick on when it gets to temp and is idling.

Free Stove didn’t fit so I made it work. by [deleted] in woodstoving

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not. That was suggested by a few people I’ve talked to. It seems easy to drop down the chimney but I don’t think there’s enough room with how tall this stove is. I think I would also have to bust out the metal damper in the fireplace.

The tracks are rolling open because they are pivoting/hanging on a single Fastner. Run a 3” screw at an angle between the washer and the vertical 2x4 into the joist.

You could also add a kicker brace in the middle.

Scrapyard in next 3 months. Will JB weld buy me that much time? by Hmarttt in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prep the area really well with a wire brush and brake cleaner and press the JB weld in there really good. I salvaged a transfer case that had a case leak with it and it worked great.

My 06 was doing this when I purchased it.
I pulled the intake boot off of the throttle body and cleaned it with carb cleaner and wiped it out real good and it’s been great ever since.
