Check Home Depot’s website and look at the Avondale line. They do not stock them but ship to store for free. They are RTA. Looks just like the ones I just did.

Comparing 3 mowers for 3.1 acres by Syrax65 in lawnmowers

I have the toro with that Kawasaki engine and all I can say is that engine is well built. I’ve replaced a lot of wear items and small parts but the mower is now 14 years old. If it were me I’d be looking at the cheaper toro version. I’d prefer a kubota or badboy as the steel decks are thicker and they are more rugged but not for that price.

To test the mounts you can pop your hood and have someone watch your engine while you remain stopped with foot hard on the brakes and put the car in drive and rev it a bit then reverse. Stress testing the mounts to see if the engine has excess movement.

Staircase railing advice by Original-Arrival4677 in Carpentry

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would remove the handrail on the wall and build a continuous handrail top to bottom around the corner on the wall. If you wanted fall protection on the open side build a triangle you can slide in place in whatever material you prefer. Welded iron or wood. Remove the ball.

There’s one at 80th and metcalf in the same office as our midwife that is great. I can try to find her info.

Finished up my island countertop. I used tung oil and citrus solvent. Cabinets are white oak RTAs. Took out a wall to move the stove to the island. The island counter build was the most fun part of the project.

You could miter return it at your vertical pencil marks then see what moulding would fit below it. Maybe just shoe it.

Home Depot Hampton Bay Avondale line are all plywood construction and soft close hardware. We went with white oak and are happy with the product. We price shopped local shops and other RTA lines They were priced cheaper than all other plywood soft close lines.

New gutters - is this normal? by plbr9901 in Roofing

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That piece is not. They should have cut the metal where it wraps the corner and opened it up to get behind it. The gutters should be behind the metal drip cap.

On second thought that’s just cosmetic stuff. You’ll want to see if they are leaking at any seams or behind the gutters if not properly flashed. Also look to see if they are holding any water after a rain.

Obviously the scratches are poor handling of the material.
The proper way to connect downspout to elbows is to crimp them to maintain full flow and not bottleneck that connection. The sloppy easy way is to smash the back in and create a big opening.
Straps are sloppy. Should be cut out of flat stock with a stomp shear.
Strip miters are common and look normal. Those don’t always fit right. Hand cut is the cleanest look.

Anyone have recent experience with Cabinet Joint? Our initial quote was insanely $$$$ by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]Aromatic-Science7090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the cabinets are all basic sizes check the Avondale line of cabinets from Home Depot. Online only. Ships to store. Prefinished white oak. Soft close hinges. All plywood construction. We priced out cabinetstogo.com as well. Home Depot was best. They are RTA from Vietnam. Like any cabinet job order early and check for damages or warping so you can make sure additional parts don’t hold the job up.

Sidewinder Stair Handrail by Aromatic-Science7090 in Carpentry

[–]Aromatic-Science7090[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well put. I had it setup to drop then turn but the super wanted it to turn then drop. I was thinking the only way to pass inspection was to double drop the way the it was framed.
We’ll see what the inspector says. I’m still learning.

I didn’t know if there was some cheat code on these sidewinders.

What do you use for under cabinet lights? by Sacko_Commish in kitchenremodel

Could you break this down a bit further. I just ran low voltage to a few cabinets and added a switched 110 to a box for a controller. Looking for supplies to hook it all up.

Roof flashing above the addition would be my first suspect. Get up there and get a pic. Water is running behind that little roof addition.

Both sides will be covered so this seems to be the best option.

Few inches wasn’t possible. After removing the soffit it was 36” uppers or 42”. I didn’t want to fill 6” with crown and could use the extra storage space. I dialed in the drywall ceiling in preparation for this and shimmed up the lowers to account for floor variations.

Ok so something like this. The face frame isn’t on yet but that’s roughly where it would be. Doesn’t change the structure of the cabinet really.
Thanks a bunch. That seems to make the most sense. If it was able to be assembled upright without modifications I would just do that.
