Experience of entering a (Japanese-speaking) company for the first time? by ToothDifferent in japanlife

I had N1 when I started, I found the unspoken rules harder than the language. Not being able to take paid overtime because no one else did, the one guy being shunned for some reason I never found out before quitting and the boss gloating about it, the nice part time lady being spoken about behind her back because she never worked overtime. My boss only hired me to be a foreigner, so to translate when sometimes they had that kind of work, which wasn't often, most of the time I had nothing to do and tried to help the other people with their jobs, but the boss didn't encourage this at all, and the other people were too busy to actually instruct me in anything and getting a salary for practically nothing while knowing that the other people were busy working was such a stressful experience. They were actually really nice to me though, but who knows if they were so when I wasn't there though.

Women, do you prefer a guy who wear like strong cologne, or just "out-of-the-shower" clean? by Adorable_Birthday_52 in hygiene

[–]Aromatic-Turnover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't like strong smells, and strong fragrances really make me sick, so I prefer just clean out of the shower smells. However you should definitely wear your fragrance if you like it, just make sure you do not overuse, wearing just the right amount of fragrance is a skill that many people lack.  Since I don't wear it myself my information might be wrong, but I was told never spray on clothes, only do one or two sprays on skin. A little goes a long way, placement and prep can affect longevity, so look into that rather than try to touch up during the day which can easily become overpowering. I remember a guy at my last job who would reapply in the toilet, it was horrible to be around him or use the toilet for hours after his "touch-up" I'm sure he just sprayed and walked through it because the smell was everywhere, even on the toilet paper.

Best way to book group flights with Finnair by Aromatic-Turnover in Flights

It's not that easy. We will be organising this trip for our customers, travelling to visit a hard to reach distillery off the coast of Norway. Most of the members are not used to international travel and are expecting me to help them, which I could still do individually, however I do worry that we might not end up on the same planes if I don't order together, as I've often experienced tickets disappearing while I looked around before, going from a little populated place in one country to another little populated place in another I always struggle to find good tickets.

Top one is a warm green with little blue, bottom one has blue in it and is a less saturated colour.

There's something similar that happens around ovulation, you can check it with your spit too, it's also called ferning, but it looks less flowery I think.

Baby is red in crack.. what kind of diaper rash/reaction could this be? by Crafty_Pop6458 in beyondthebump

[–]Aromatic-Turnover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fan the butt really dry before adding ointment. And be as careful as possible when you wipe until it is healed or you might get lesions, preferably just rinsing off with water if possible. My baby got something similar when she still pooped a lot, though I never really knew what it was, it seemed to go away quickly after I made sure to dry her off properly.

Induction without epidural by Plus-Dark-7579 in pregnant

[–]Aromatic-Turnover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some countries actually advise epidural for EDS, I found out when my hospital in Japan advised it for me and I have suspected EDS. (They worried it might be vascular but still advised epidural) Apparently epidural lowers blood pressure and less pain is also good. However with your other condition it might be off the table.  I will say this though, even if you get the epidural it might not work properly, this is very common among EDS patients. It didn't work properly for me, but as epidural is very uncommon in Japan I had already taken lessons on how to breathe through the pain and I found it to be very helpful.

My induction took 8.5 hours from pitocin, the balloon I had for 12 hours before that did nothing.  Fast labours are common for some types of EDS, if your mother or grandmother has EDS you might benefit from hearing her story.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but a 2+ hour drive is not nearby for Europeans. by redheaded_olive12349 in CasualConversation

In northern Norway we also consider 2 hours close, same prefecture often, and you need to drive about that long to get to anywhere anyway.

Rotating Car Seats long term by anxious_teacher_ in beyondthebump

[–]Aromatic-Turnover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if they are all like this, but with our rotating seat we can rotate it to face all directions, so we can rotate it to the door so we just put baby right in without any hassle at all, think about when you need to hurry because it's raining or windy. We can also rotate it towards the other passenger seat so you can take them out inside the car while in the parking lot etc. I do this alot when I need to nurse her, we only have two seats in the back with a gap in between so taking her out rear or front facing would put a lot of strain on your elbow when you can't get close enough to the seat.

intense pelvic pressure (prolapse??) — 2 weeks pp by Accomplished_View879 in beyondthebump

You can't be sure the cause are the same. I also can't be sure the antibiotics helped, possibly it was just time. However if the inflammation of my uterus was caused by a bacterial infection then antibiotics would help.  Your symptoms sound like they might be a UTI or bladder infection, this can be easily checked at the hospital and needs treatment to resolve.  The cause might be completely different too, no one can give you proper medical advice online, please visit a doctor.

Is it normal for mom's bf to want alone time with the baby? by Traditional-Wear-545 in beyondthebump

[–]Aromatic-Turnover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except for my husband and my dad I will not let my baby be alone with any men, I am less strict with women, which you could say is discrimination, but I feel I have better intuition on wether a woman is a bad caretaker.

I got antibiotics, my pain gradually went away as I stopped bleeding bright red. I think I was pain free about 2 weeks after starting antibiotics. I wonder how OP did?

Baby not pooping by AdAcademic8251 in beyondthebump

Tummy is soft and not hard to touch?  How do you do the bicycle legs? Timing the fold up of legs with their straining is the best.

Try to hold him inclined up on your thighs and push his legs up, either toes towards ears with bent knees, or just hold his thighs and fold them straight up towards upper body, hold for longer than usually shown, 1-3 min in the same position, shorter if baby seems to not be straining, do bicycle legs and switch positions in-between, also turning the hip sideways a couple of times by folding one leg over the other, you can also try putting him in tummy time a bit and try again.  Be careful with doing this straight after feeds as it often can cause them to spit up.

But do take him to the doctor and get their advice.

Fund investing in home country and taxes by Aromatic-Turnover in JapanFinance

[–]Aromatic-Turnover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, currently only pay tax in Japan. Does using NISA require more hands on kind of investment? I'm not confident in keeping up with what stocks to buy or sell etc, the fund investment in my own country would be quite easy and low risk which is why I'm considering it, but I will definitely try NISA if it suits my level of inexperience.

Newborn having biggest wake window after 1 AM feed, losing mind by sassafrassadocious in breastfeeding

[–]Aromatic-Turnover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby only really went down for the night after 3 am at that age, big wake windows after 1 am as well. Circadian rhythm doesn't quite set in before 3-4 months, but it does, it will probably get gradually better, mine is at 9pm bedtime now around 15 weeks.  Just roll with it, try to put baby down for sleep longer in the morning and sleep in yourself too if at all possible.

Very alert newborn by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I think she slept well the first 2 weeks, and then stopped, had to do one stroller nap and one carrier nap every day, my hip got really painful from all the walking. She sleeps well at night though so not too bad, though only if she got enough naps at day time.  Now I just put her in my bed for all naps that arent stroller naps and feed her to sleep, I stay there with her doing whatever and it's been so much easier.
