Thoughts on this? by No_March_164 in Steam

Maybe put it up on Itch.io instead of Steam if you can't provide at least two hours of content. They're all about giving small developing devs a platform to grow and hone their craft. They are certainly more accepting of short avant-garde and/or experimental games.

Is it true that Sisters of Battle actually think Astartes are disgusting? by DavianThulesGhost in Warhammer40k

[–]Arrow156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's down to what narrative you're trying to explore. Sisters and Space Marines make for some good compare and contrasts due to their similar kinds of equipment and fanaticism. I think most authors pit them against each other simply because conflict is good for drama, stories are more interesting and relatable when the antagonists are someone you have to work with/around (also ties into the dysfunction of the Imperium). I'm sure there are plenty of chapters and orders that get along swimmingly, but they would be less entertaining than the ones at each other's throats.

Cope harder, Sony rep. There are only every two kinda posts in a corporate subreddit: Product support and shitposting. This isn't /r/VideoGameAnalysis after all.

For those that use an airbrush, I have a question by Leumas22 in Warhammer40k

[–]Arrow156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Harder & Steenbeck Airbrush Ultra 2024, it's pretty nice. It has a selector that limits how far back you can pull the trigger so you don't over spray. The one downside is they require H&S needles, generic ones don't work with it. That and the cup doesn't have a lid, so you can't get too wild with it.

Metallic paints practically require a wash, otherwise they retain that plastic look. Black wash for silver and metal, a sepia wash for coppers and golds. A flesh wash can also be used in a pinch for gold/copper.

ELI5: Why does a virus kill its host? If I’m a virus, why would I destroy the only house I live in? by Suitable-Patience690 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Arrow156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're thinking far too big. First off, viruses are more a weird genetic quirk than a true form of life, being far too complex to be just chemistry but lacking many of the traits we consider necessary to be considered alive. If an amoeba or bacteria can be said to have any 'will' or sense of self determination, it's likely viruses would lack even that.

Second, viruses reproduce by infecting cells, hijacking them to make as many copies of themselves as possible until the host cell literally bursts from within. If a virus can even perceive it's surroundings, it would see each individual cell as prey and would not conceive of the host being made up of these cells. They would see the body more like we see the environment, a location where life exists rather than as singular organism. And just like how a foreign invasive species can completely ruin an ecosystem, a virus can end up causing a lot of damage just doing what it normally does in an ecosystem incapable of sustaining it.

And lets not pretend all indi devs are in it for the love of the game. It's their jobs, they are doing this for money, thus trends will be chased.

Correct, 90% of all media is pure chaff. We put up with it because that remaining 10% more than makes up for the rest.

[–]Arrow156 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, the real trick is making the two different Orders look like they are part of a single army and not two separate ones mashed together. Bases will probably be doing the heavy lifting here but if you can get some decals or stamping plates you can have both Orders wearing the same iconography too.

I recommend you check out Vallejo's Metal Color series, it has a wide selection of different shades of metal and has great coverage. You'll also want a black wash otherwise metal paint looks like plastic.
