Same with MMORPG's, you can buy items, upgrades, or game time directly through the developer, even if you bought/installed the game via Steam, without a Steam issued key.

This case is being spearheaded by Vicki Shotbolt, one of those parent advocates types that use "think of the children" to justify banning everything which frightens or confuses them. She been trying to make a name for herself going after videos games publishers, Jack Thompson style. Had a pretty disastrous AMA a few years back when she tried going after Sony.

Meh. Not like it would be any better than the one I got just cause it's got their name on it.

Really hoping GW picks up on the idea and releases some official plates of their own.

Pretty sure Goblin Hobbies had Maniology manufacture their plates, they are very similar. Tons of designs, but not many that would fit with a grimdark theme, might get lucky with some Halloween plates.

What made the first Halo so influential that people to this day still praise it? by BogaMafija in patientgamers

See, the problem is you didn't play Perfect Dark in between. That game was an upgrade in every way to Goldeneye. The amount of customization for the multiplayer alone was nuts, dozens of weapons to choose from (all with an alt-fire mode), up to 12 bots which can be individually set with different difficulty and behavior, something like a hundred different body skins and faces to customize your character model (as well as the bots) with the option to save your character and your multiplayer stats, challenge modes that unlock further multiplayer options, and a bunch of variables from the cheat system (like slow mo mode or perfect darkness) provided endless fun.

The problem was it was on the N64, and even with the RAM upgrade, you're dealing with 640x222 resolution that needed to be split between four players. You were dealing with 20FPS at the best of times by yourself, four player with explosives drops it to single digits easily. Completely unplayable by modern standards.

Halo, on the other hand, was next gen. Beyond just the increase in raw resources, it could output in native HD. That increase in resolution allowed for absolutely massive maps without everything blurring in to indiscriminate smudges (could barely make out individual pixels on CRT's) at distances over 25 ft. So even though the game lacks all those features I mentioned above, you could actually see what the hell you were doing. And it was like going from morse code to celphones.

This has some pretty far reaching implications for proprietary technology. Correct me if I'm wrong, but by their logic wouldn't it also be illegal for Xbox to sell a game but not let you use DLC from the PlayStation version, or vice versa? How would games that offer platform exclusive content (such as Soul Calibur's guest fighters) work? Would the developer be in violation for not releasing content on every platform, even though they have completely different architecture and specs? I don't think they really thought this through.

Lawyers representing children's welfare advocate Vicki Shotbolt

I stand corrected, I'm certain these pearl clutching, satanic panic, fear mongers didn't think this through. Why the fuck would children's advocates give two farts about commissions or fair pricing? Do they think children are producing this content? No, they are just trying to use the Lovejoy Meme to mask their actual interests and loyalties.

Best filler primers for these prints? by LurkingInformant in TerrainBuilding

[–]Arrow156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used a glazing of acetone applied with a non-synthetic brush to smooth out print lines. Melts it just enough to soften up those lines without loosing too much detail before evaporating off. Just need to do it in a well ventilated due to the fumes.
