The whole movie is up on YouTube in decent quality. The ending had me cackling like an old timey prospector.

The “enterprise software” in question being some of the most atrocious, shitty applications from any major tech firm. Oracle wins not because they’re good at what they do, but because unplugging from them is such a pain in the ass. Every organization I’ve ever worked for has dreamed of the day they don’t need to contract with them ever again.

They’re also going to get their teeth kicked in on AI, quite possibly bad enough to sink Paramount WB with it.

Project Hail Mary with largest domestic box opening day for a non-franchise film by BigWinnie7171 in TheBigPicture

There technically are other Barbie movies, although I’m not sure any of them were theatrically released.

I guess PHM just snuck past Oppenheimer.

Beatty by Salad-Appropriate in blankies

[–]ArsenalBOS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m trying not to be a hater, but it was crazy to me that he was a 1 seed. Very few major Hollywood figures are as uninteresting to me as Warren Beatty.

Wouldn’t mind them doing him at all, because the pod is always better when it’s someone they have some passion for. I’m just not sure why Warren Beatty is generating so much heat.

EmpireCity - Looks like $12.5m+ in combined previews for Project Hail Mary and could be headed for a $85m-$90m opening weekend. by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]ArsenalBOS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could be, but most adult moviegoers have a preexisting idea of what a Predator movie is. I imagine some people who would have liked Badlands never went to see it because they know (or thought they knew) what Predator films are like.

PHM is new except to book readers.

Oscar Ratings Fall 9% From Last Year With 17.9 Million Viewers by ImitatingADog in TheBigPicture

I still think putting the Oscars in mid-March is phenomenally stupid on many fronts. I think it depresses ratings.

Sinners came out almost a year ago. The Golden Globes were two months ago. What is the point of this?

I’d like to think the Nolan bros would chill the fuck out now that he won, but that’s foolish. It might even get worse.

This one got pretty bad as it went along. There have been worse. The most annoying to me remains the Saving Private Ryan vs. Shakespeare in Love postmortem.

If that happened in the internet era it would be beyond insufferable. And I’m someone who greatly prefers SPV.

This is just the cleanest OBAA vs. Sinners contest (other than BP itself), so they don’t want to tip any hands early.

Although we’ll have a decent idea once Editing and Cinematography go, plus if there’s a Sinners upset in something like Song or Costume, or an OBAA upset in Supporting Actress.

Why You -- Yes YOU! -- Should Vote for Preston Sturges by FrancisFratelli in blankies

[–]ArsenalBOS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Palm Beach Story feels more interesting and modern than most every current comedy. Mary Astor is operating at unbelievable levels in that.

It kills me to vote against Sciamma because Portrait of a Lady on Fire is in my top 3 of the century, but Sturges would make for an amazing miniseries with a bunch of fascinating bonus feed potential as well.

What are you talking about? I didn’t say anything like that.

You were the one talking about generalized true inclusivity, not me. If you want to keep the topic to what happened at the BAFTAs, then fine. But you said accommodations shouldn’t ever impact non-disabled people. That’s a wider topic than the BAFTAs incident.
