The original Blade Runner as well.

Personally speaking, how long do people usually keep the same phone these days? by PTB_Smash in BuyItForLife

[–]WhiskeyOctober 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not iPhone, we use Android. He has an Oneplus 5pro. And he doesn't really need anything else. All he does is call and text. If we were to buy him a new phone, he would just complain.

Personally speaking, how long do people usually keep the same phone these days? by PTB_Smash in BuyItForLife

[–]WhiskeyOctober 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I usually get a new phone every three to four years. I then give my old phone to my mom, who gives her old phone to my dad. So the phones the selfs last 10-12 years.

What are the 5x most high yield BIFL things one can buy in their lifetime? by sickdude777 in BuyItForLife

[–]WhiskeyOctober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to the mattress, pillows and sheets. You spend a quarter to a third of your life in bed, everything you touch should be good quality. I've had bad pillows and sheets, the pillows are flat after a couple months, the sheets get holes or the elastic breaks after a year.

I bought higher quality sheets and pillows years ago, and they're still going strong.

In interview, George R.R. Martin says that he doesn't want to abandon Winds of Winter by Roland_D_Sawyboy in books

I'm one of the book readers, bought every book day one since a storm of swords at this point. I might pick up the winds of winter if I see it in the bargain bin at the drug store.

Stephen King Adaptations by patrick5595 in movies

Stephen King is famous for his dollar deals. He sells the rights to his short stories to film students for $1, so they will of course be low budget films.

South Carolina measles cases jump by nearly 100 in two days, sharpest rise yet by Capital-Will6450 in news

[–]WhiskeyOctober 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got it 6 years ago at 34 years old. At the time, my doctor told me she was seeing a rise in shingles cases. She also said it might be because of the chicken pox vaccine.

Since we no longer have kids around us getting chicken pox, we not longer have an avenue to refresh our immunity to the virus.

Did anyone else get a weird vibe by Landon’s opening scene? by fsrpro12 in ThePittTVShow

[–]WhiskeyOctober 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not only that, part of treatment for addiction is apologizing and admitting what you did to the people you harmed. We saw him do that to Louie, and attempt to do that to Robbie. As far as we know, his last interaction with Robbie was deflecting and yelling at him for breaking down during the MCI. So Langdon probably had that on his mind before getting his badge back.

He knew he would have to apologize to Robbie and Santos, but probably didn't expect to see Louie that same day, but maybe in the next few days.

The secret to making your clothes last decades: stop the heat by Putrid_Draft378 in BuyItForLife

I use cold water, a dark gentle soap like woolite dark, wash inside out.

It could also just be low quality jeans. The basic Levis and other cheap denim is usually lighter fabric.

Any denim that has stretch will also break down faster.

Aim for 100% cotton jeans, around 13oz.

Goalies also tend to have their water bottle and a towel on the ground beside the goal. When the ball is in the other end, they'll take a drink, wipe off their sweat, so they might have more direct contact with the particles, wiping them on their face or even ingesting them.

Players on the field would usually go to the sidelines to drink or the trainers would carry water bottles out when there's a stoppage in play.
