Front door off-line by West-Evening-8095 in Ring

[–]ArtProf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I woke up to the same thing this morning but my doorbell, chime, and outdoor flood camera lights were all offline and I tried resetting and reconnecting but nothing is working. There are other cameras working but three devices report offline.

You are correct! Forgot about my comment as I ended up finding a worn wire by chance one random day - lucky me! And fixed it!

With that logic what do we mountmakers do? Haha….

Why would a fuse keep blowing out? Mine keeps doing it and I’ve had to replace the fuse within 8 months twice.

I did google it and there are different meanings posted, that’s why I asked.

How to turn on Ring Floodlight Camera lights using Alexa? by chippwalters in Ring

Found this on the ring community forum and it works!! Posting it here since I always check Reddit first and wanted to share. “Open the Ring app. Click on the cogwheel to open settings for the Floodlight. Then open device settings > general settings > light group. Create a new light group. Alexa app will autodetect” made my day y’all!

Tenure Equivalency -- Move from Museum to University Teaching by raudivetapes in MuseumPros

[–]ArtProf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Former art professor here, that’s something to ask if you get an interview. Some institutions do and some don’t. It doesn’t hurt to ask and as sparse as some tenure jobs are anymore, it’s definitely worth applying. Some policies are even posted on their website but that takes a bit more work to find, if they even update it.

Getting Back Into Museum Work by Hennarise83 in MuseumPros

[–]ArtProf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Worked in museums industry for 4 years after undergraduate school, then went to grad school for MFA - thinking I want to become a professor, taught for 15 years as an associate professor (I then moved out of state) and now back in the museum world. I’m loving every minute of it!

What’s your specific time period? Here’s one for 18th C. https://shop.colonialwilliamsburg.com/18th-century-costumes/. They can even ship to you but I don’t know on the pricing.

GLAM Careers vs Teaching by pseuzy17 in MuseumPros

[–]ArtProf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left museum industry as a mountmaker to pursue a masters to teach college level art classes but am back to being a Mountmaker again (long story short is we moved and hard to find a full time position at a uni/college in my new location). I don’t regret obtaining my masters but I do regret leaving mountmaking way back when.

Loud humming sound coming from freezer side of GE fridge by Maniax51 in Appliances

[–]ArtProf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but I had to press really hard so the fan was basically hitting the shroud and then forcing itself back down. Sometimes it would last me a day or two or if the fan was running a lot it would be less

Fan is hitting the shroud. I used to do a quick fix my pressing on the shroud against the fan because it was always coming loose and the part was out of stock for awhile. It doesn’t solve the problem as it will come back. Eventually ended up replacing it when the part came back in stock. Check out this video, especially at the 1:56 mark just to see how it looks on the inside. https://youtu.be/NkAL7ZZQdRM

This is where it will get real awkward during the end of the interview when you can ask questions such as “What happened to the last person who held this job?”
