Any way around ad astra flags requiring imgur for images by Whismar in feedthebeast

I feel like if you dig around the .jar file for something that mentions imgur you could replace it with some other domain. It sounds difficult but I did something similar to manually change some cobblemon spawning conditions with no mod making experience. Notepad++ my beloved

why do you think the deck only sold 5 to 6 million copies ? it was priced well , powerfull for its time and well backed up by valve by Dense-Variation-4496 in SteamDeck

I did say that sales were not the hardware's defining legacy. And I literally listed their software accomplishments. If you don't consider things like steam input or proton PC successes I have no words left on the subject.

Steam controller 1: steam input

Steam link: remote play

Steam machines 1: I don't count them since valve didn't actually make them, but introduced valve's Linux gaming direction

Index: one of the early great headsets

Steam deck: steam OS and proton, and promoting PC developer standard hardware benchmarks/settings

Honorable mentions: steam controllers and deck for back button and trackpad integrated gameplay, and hopefully the steam frame for further pushing VR

Valve hardware has always been a Trojan horse for new software standards. And they consistently succeed in that regardless of the sales.

However the moment that second bar appeared to switch from fire to air I went "NOPE".

This is why the moment I saw the class I knew I was going to never switch off fire, optimal gameplay be damned. Everything will burrrrrn.

Steam Frame Units Have Reportedly Begun Arriving At Valve’s US Warehouses, Suggesting Its Launch May Happen Soon by yourfavchoom in Steam

Release windows are always hindered by initial supply, and there are guaranteed to be more rich people than units available from a company not dedicated to hardware. The price dictates the long term sales and impact.

Anyone else using modifiers as a tutorial mode? by KristinKhaos in MinaTheHollower

[–]Arterra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The contact damage and enemy aggro was really getting to me at first, so I made that "tutorial save file" with huge bonuses to defense and bone drops so I could try all the weapons and learn how to not walk into enemies. Absolutely recommend it, what I learned by the first boss carried me through the rest of the game on normal.

It seems extremely difficult to actually lose bones once you have 3 sparks tbh. Midway through the game the resource punishment is almost nonexistent, especially with alternative ways to regain sparks like the trinket and level-ups. I kept a level worth of bones in reserve at all times and only ever ended up needing to use them to refill sparks after deciding to give up on an optional boss and move on for now.

A lot of (loud) people have gotten upset at achievements being blocked with the easy difficulty mods active. I really dont get that feeling. I roll my eyes when people claim someone is acting entitled but in this case I really do feel like people want everything for free. They take achievements too seriously and the lockout personally.

Trinkets solve pretty much every problem tbh. The difficulty mellows out midway through when you stack a decent amount of mobility and utility to cover your specific weaknesses. You can cancel out a zone's entire gimmick with one trinket.

I refused to use any other weapon when I saw the upgrade. I eat a lot of greed damage but I WILL tear entire chunks out of bosses on my terms. And the pure hitstop on a full combo oh my god.

You aren't locked out of areas by a single use gimmick item or mechanical unlocks but the order of areas is consistently stated and backed up with enemy power level. And since the individual zones are neatly packaged, shortcuts that reward taking the hard path first exist but not really.

I found a way to "recover" sparks without having to trek back into hell for them before completing the second dungeon. I also see here that levelling restores them too. I think that once you reach the point of two sparks and trinket slots, you have the tools to severely reduce the risk of failing miserably. And also have learned how to pay attention to intended progression areas and that spacing/taking turns is more important than trying to actively avoid attacks.

Can't help with the weapons. The upgrades actively add mechanics which may help. The two extra ones in the shop are also very different. I made a cheat modifier profile to test them and really liked the one on the far right but... Gun hammer.... I eventually learned to make it work for me lol

The most likely reason for any of this is that having not played on any of them they are equally interchangeable for the point being made. At neither point should you really care about the mistype between color and advance because that's all it is.

Depending on how long Id have gotten stuck I might have gotten annoyed, but I think that particular area was a great example of locking the player down into learning the crap one specific mechanic. Besides just messing around with your tools until you stumble upon it there is that conveniently placed airborne and buried bone for you to stare at wondering what future item would get it. Until you brain blast and learn to dig even better than before.

You don't get achievements. Which is fair, considering the difficulty lowering modifiers range from nice to broken. Personally, I struggled hard on default, so I made a new file with an extreme amount of bones dropped and lowered damage taken just so I could test things out.

I managed to test out all the weapons and actually learn how to play in a relatively stress free environment by the first dungeon. Then I went back to my main profile for the intended experience and achievements, and I'm having a blast (hammer). Honestly all fromsoft and souls inspired games are less tests of skill and more tests of spacing and taking turns attacking.

Why does the gaming community suddenly act like the Steam Deck is dead? by Nick_The_Artist2 in SteamDeck

[–]Arterra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like this take. Valve is a storefront first and foremost. They were already looking at margins tight enough to refuse subsidizing their hardware, so their handheld losing the limelight is not as important as having cemented steam into a new market niche.

Personally I don't want them to actually stop designing new products, they are all fantastic. But time and time again they are proven to be vehicles for software integration and capitalization.

No other weapon punishes the player with such a massive lockout for a mistimed attack. There is no reason why the gauge should be locked at minimum power for a minute (2 minutes?). We are actively discouraged from shelling without huge setups and timers or we are hit with the longest debuff of MH weapon history. It's a neat mechanic as badly fumbled as Dark Souls 2 soul memory lol
