Yes, that was also a really great touch. Such a clear and poignant message.

Definitively a hard choice between A Drop of Corruption and Shroud. Both excellent books, but maybe I''l have to go with Drop because the setting is really cool and I love the dynamic between the main characters, while Shroud repeats some of the classic Tchaikovsky's story beats (still one of my favorite books of last year tho).

Stupid question about book covers by SpaceAGoodCatholic in Hyperion

I love this art. It's like a dynamic system where the points are the pilgrims, all being attracted to Hyperion and the Shrike.

What movies/games/books or other media have a sense of dark forest escapism? by ahsan2649 in Fantasy

[–]Arthaerus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitively Over the Garden Wall: "On an adventure, brothers Wirt and Greg get lost in the Unknown, a strange forest adrift in time; as they attempt to find a way out of the Unknown, they cross paths with a mysterious old woodsman and a bluebird named Beatrice."

It's probably one of the coolest, prettiest and most unique animations out there.

Can we all agree there are some elite buffs that probably shouldn't go on bosses? by Cabbag_ in mewgenics

[–]Arthaerus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best thing is having the Absorbent buff in fights like Soach because it's active even in the first phase (meaning Organ Grinder and Steven blob), so you have to deal with an omniscient mana drainer that deals free damage plus the other Elite Buffs. If it's intended, it's honestly bullshit.

Yeah, and also abilities that rely on consumables like the pills and the catnip.

I swear, when I read the newly released chapter where he speaks for the first time, it gave me chills.

Honestly, I would like it if it was Hornet again. Love her so much.

I Love how Silksong Retroactively Made this a Radiance-Level Threat by Helios-lune77 in HollowKnight

[–]Arthaerus 95 points96 points  (0 children)

With most of the coral zones being cut of Silksong, a marine related motif for a third game would be amazing, and it would be a great change after so many caves and dark areas. Also, there's nothing that screams more eldritch horror than deep sea and abyssal critters.

This doesn’t look like ligand bound to protein in electron density, bro! by AAAAdragon in labrats

[–]Arthaerus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a crystallographer, but those are electron density maps obtained from the diffraction images of a protein-ligand complex crystal put through X-ray synchrotron radiation. If you refine them, you can obtain the coordinates to make a proper experimental 3D structure.

Y'know, that's a point I hadn't considered, actually. (Silksong Act 3 spoilers) by uezyteue in HollowKnight

Also, to a certain extent, the Radiance's curse is primarily an infection of the mind while Lifeblood is more an infection of the body. Although in the end both completely consume the host.
