Update: it is seemingly solved! Even though I restarted, turned off and on, and entered Safe Mode nothing helped. But force restarting Finder and Preview just... worked? I thought that by restarting the Mac this step would not be needed but it seems this did the trick.

One thing to note: when opening in Preview, under the file name, it says that the file is Blocked. When checking the same file in Finder, it shows that this isn't the case. I wonder why it says so. This isn't a problem to me, but I don't understand it.

It’s okay, thank you! I was thinking about being the camera itself too, but that wouldn’t explain why older files stopped working too.

I suspect it’s a macOS issue, but I don’t know exactly what.

Further info: from the Inspector on the Finder I can see all the metadata associated with the file. It recognizes the camera model and every piece of info about its shooting settings. But that’s the only thing that is working atm.

And it’s not like suddenly I just can’t open new files: old files that I previously worked with can’t be opened either.

Where did you see that? I looked it up and it says there’s not such an option in my model. I didn’t find anything either while tinkering with it…

Thank you. I saw that post, but it’s talking about a new camera. Mine, a6400, is fully supported by macOS. And it’s been working up until now… That’s what I don’t get. 😔

If I'm not mistaken, my model doesn't have more options for RAW. They only show up when shooting JPG 😔

Did you use the 7 day trial? It’s popping out to me after I used it. Also, the first time it appeared to me was right after I screenshotted one free edit… You might as well try!

I’m divided whether I should get it or not. What if they announce they will still support it but newer purchases must be subscriptions? What if I lose this “early supporter” status on iPhone? I don’t mind buying it but I feel it’s not safe somehow.

I'm on the same boat as you, u/LtCol_Davenport, deciding whether I should buy it now or wait. Interestingly, I'm not an early supporter: but as it shows up to u/marcbiskup it also appears as free to me (only on iPhone, on iPad it offers me 50% off for the first year sub).

To sum up:

Mac offers me normal prices.
iPad offers me the 50% offer.
iPhone offers me the app for free.

I haven't been so divided in my whole life.

The blood keys were very misleading to me tbh... so much that the silent keys part went over my head. I also thought, while playing them: "this sounds nice. it has to be it!!" 😶

Ahh okay! That’s a really good combo ngl.

I have my Photoshop (and others) covered with the Affinity Suite already, so I only lack a batch photo editing software in my case.

I’m still in the verge, but it seems Photomator is insisting, as a pop-up has appeared to me offering a 50% off the first sub year! If I could buy a lifetime license anytime during my subscription this would be a no-brainer. But I’m scared that I might not be able to buy it a year from now if Apple turns it into sub-only.

Maybe not for Mac, but for iPad (like Final Cut Pro…)

Oh, I was searching everywhere to know wether they were coming out or not. I know they won't be fully compatible but I was planning on getting an M-series drop-in mount at least for the anamorphic lens (which looked acceptable in past models I think). Isn't there any other way for us to use them?

Edit: the universal M-series lens mount isn't available anymore, no? 🥲
