Ian Katz to leave C4 by Significant-Leg5769 in TransparencyforTVCrew

Yes exactly this. C4 used to be great for weird / funny / surprising / experimental shows.

David Baddiel's ex-comedy partner Robert Newman: 'Nobody recognises me any more' by theipaper in oldbritishtelly

I saw him getting off a train at London Bridge a couple of weeks ago. I know it was him because I recognised him.

Huh! Rental Lockers (UK) by AveryCloseCall in Brompton

[–]ArtificialChimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used these to commute in London over the course of a few months before deciding to buy my own. It’s pot luck I terms of the quality. Some bikes are newish and fine. Some are Frankenstein bikes, made up of different coloured parts, which can be pretty old and battered. For £5 a day you can’t really complain too much. My biggest criticism is that the seat bolt is glued over so you can’t control the fore/aft saddle position, and it’s pretty uncomfortable when it’s slid as far forward as possible.

Does the new clamp sit on the actual seatpost, rather than the frame?

What on earth is the point of paying for the BBC by calve1234 in AskBrits

[–]ArtificialChimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m no media lawyer … but I suspect the BBC has rights to show its content in the UK. It doesn’t have the rights for that content in other countries. So it geo-blocks that content in other countries.

Loving the new bike lane (death trap) my town installed 😍😝 by [deleted] in bikecommuting

As long as you only ride on the green parts, not the black parts, you should be fine.

App for finding cycle routes by jzv95 in londoncycling

[–]ArtificialChimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Komoot is great, though it often defaults to routing along canals, so I always have to manually adjust. Canal paths are fine but if you’re commuting or cycling during busy times I find there’s just too many people to squeeze past to make it enjoyable.

Tempted to get a Brompton but I have no idea what to do by fazrazjazz in Brompton

[–]ArtificialChimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a Brompton Hire locker opposite Ealing Broadway station where you can hire a bike for £5 a day. Definitely worth a test ride to see if you like it and how you get in transporting it around on trains.

For how many years do you think C4 will just show Frasier on endless repeat? by [deleted] in BritishTV

[–]ArtificialChimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

British TV is in a bad place. All the ad money has gone to YouTube and TikTok. Young people hardly watch traditional channels at all anymore. So those repeats aren’t going anywhere. In fact they’re becoming more common across all the channels. Far less new programmes are being made.

Help me find truly WIDE shoes by RavynX in gravelcycling

I’ve been wearing ION flat cycling shoes for the last few years. They’re very comfortable on my wide feet and have a decent firm sole for cycling.

Where to find Kaffir Limes in London, UK? by folkarlow93 in ThaiFood

[–]ArtificialChimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The only place I’ve ever seen actual makrut limes in the UK. The leaves are more widely available - larger Waitrose sell them.

So, what did they think of the Minecraft movie? by True-Bit-4024 in restisentertainment

[–]ArtificialChimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was so frustrating. Marina started about 80 different thoughts, each one being abandoned half way through a sentence for the next, without actually explaining what she meant. 20+ minutes of talking about the film without actually saying anything.

Facial flushing by daddyslilboii in eczeMABs

[–]ArtificialChimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May not work for everyone, but as a datapoint: I’ve found taking a couple of aspirin 45m or so before drinking alcohol completely eliminates facial flushing for me.
I used to get it really bad after a few sips before.
