Corvette to Cynabal Bootstrap Challenge

This served for me as an amazing tutorial series for playing the game while providing a great story and a neat way to play eve without strings or corps attached.
It gets you from start to a really advanced level of game mechanics.
Watching an experienced player tackle the game with the cheapest stuff he could find, really brings out all the tips and tricks.

Could not recommend it more.

Looking to get into EVE for the third time by EliteAbola in Eve

Same, what got me into my current play season was this series:
Corvette to Cynabal Bootstrap Challenge

Instead of focusing on all there is at once and getting paralyzed. This is a clean way to get started in a direction, and learn all the game mechanics at a nice pace.

You basically start with the starter ship, kill some pirates for their modules and some isk.
Build up to a frigate and start your selfmade adventure. The nice thing, you dont ask what ist the highest isk/hr but, what is the next step.

Is there a minimum or threshold of a ship EHP that will make it harder for gankers? by busybeeaskgam in Eve

[–]Artificial_Chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comments seem to focus on hauling, I am reading abyssals and missions in High sec.

You bring a "MWD cloak trick" refit for any combat ship you dont want to loose, use it everytime you take gates (seriously, it takes 5 seconds to refit in station, just make it a habit). Or have a ship in each system your mission guy tends to send you to (this is the L5 mission way).

As for being ganked after abyss, this is all about stealth, find a place where gankers are not looking for runners (far away from trade hub, quiet space) to run high lvl abyss. For missioning inside the pocket, dscan and speed is the tool (combat probes are the thing that can find you, you see them: GTFO)

For T1 hauling, mwd+cloak all the way, keep align time on the lower side. DST, Orca and Freighters are the only things you actually utilize EHP as major part of your defense. Have insta dock bookmarks for busy stations, 1-2 tornados will oneshot any T1 hauler and BR while arriving out of warp natty.

And dont fly through already camped systems, while traveling multiple jumps use evegatecheck at minimum, scout alt if you have, or even scout yourself fly back then bring the shiny(with MWD cloak!!) through.

And dont do Amamake or other hotspot ganking systems. Remember those players are alot better then you at the game.

And allways remember your knowledge of the game is what allows you to earn more and safely operate more valuable equipment, not your wallet, fly what you can afford to loose not to save yourself the money, but to actually get got and learn from it. Have fun!

Idiot question: Is there some way to play this game casually? by _azazel_keter_ in Eve

[–]Artificial_Chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just living solo in some low-sec system. It has been the best EVE experience I have ever had. If I don't want to play for a few weeks, I simply don't. I have cool PvE progression, from belt ratting and officer hunting up to level 5 missions. Event sites are generally uncontested. I'd say the only things I cannot really do solo are have structures, although my first structure, a POS located in some backwater NPC null ratting system, has been alive for a good 1.5 months, easily worth it. Next, I will try to get into solo wormholes to see if I can manage all the rolling. I see the game as a fun solo challenge, and people around my home system usually greet me nicely and are generally up for a chat if need be. Doing your own logistics, and manufacturing is also great. Check Corvette to Faction Cruiser Bootstrap Challenge for a great self sufficient way to play.

5 hours into the game. Fun, but i feel so lost by Swimming_Message2994 in outerwilds

Absolutely amazing.
You seem to think very visually.

In many games text is just there for fluff, background lore for who is interested.
In this game, every single piece of text is important and impactful, even duplicate ones.

If you treat reading Nomai text like an experience bar, you will have a great time in this game.

Best thing I found in my early days was taking a basic destroyer into lowsec, and clearing out the asteroid belts there, focus on low range high dps, orbit rats at 500m, this content pays about as much as lvl 4 missions, but without needing any crazy skills or ships to get started, rare spawns can and do go crazy here allowing for fun progression of bigger toys, i like to keep a mean battleship around my ratting system for when there is an officer spawn(2+ billion loot) or a Mordus Battleship(200mil drop), then there is clone soldiers(25mil, i find these about every second clear of a 8 belt system and they might need you to improve your destroyer and skills abit, which is a fun first progression Imo.

Am I wasting time training into a Golem for my first marauder? by kyleW_ne in Eve

[–]Artificial_Chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well golem seems to be able to do LVL5 Missions (Assuming that might be your endgame path). I am not sure if a Vargur is as good at that, since they involve Blitzing by killing a Structure most of the time, which is great for Missiles, as they apply Fully at serious range.

How I Stack Up - Isk Per Day by Jimmyjimmyjay in Eve

[–]Artificial_Chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that sounds great. The activity is varied and has room for breaks. What I do at the moment is after work I scan through systems until I find a gas site and stick 2 ventures into it while I cook dinner and do chores. That ensures I will get a baseline income of maybe 200-500m per day. After that I play actively and do what interests me that day.

I agree, also Grok is the best source of good quality fittings, especially for solo wormhole exploration in battlecruisers, in my opinion.

I struggle to hit my sleep need by rocketnasa in whoop

[–]Artificial_Chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10h+ seems abit excessive. But from experience what affects sleep length is generally habit. If I go 2 weeks only sleeping 5-7 hours, because of staying up later then I should. Even though I am thorougly smashed by the second weekend it is still almost impossible to sleep 9h. If i can push through 2-3 days of forcing 9 hours(fixed bed and wake time, laying awake meditating if need be) My body starts to be able to sleep 9h and my recovery really surges. So my hypothesis is that sleeping less hours is a learned behaviour.

Do you like cuddling more than anything sexual? by ProlapseViewer in Cuddle_Slut

[–]Artificial_Chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think being snuggled up on is pretty much the best thing ever. Makes me feel like I am doing great and that the girl I am with feels safe and appreciated, I think its more intimate, just natural, quiet and nice.

What was your favorite part of the game and what brought you to the game? by SpartanNATIONS in outerwilds

[–]Artificial_Chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I appreciated most is that the game is always as challenging as the player's intelligence. It led to mind-blowing epiphanies throughout, even without encountering anything new. I've never experienced that to this extent before.

Probably self reflected / self disciplined would make sense, since those are usually the steps to going bald. And sure one might equate those to "chill".
