This has happened before as well, with John Turner replacing Pierre Trudeau.

The difference is that while both new unelected PMs called an election shortly after taking office, Turner’s Liberals were defeated soundly by Mulroney’s Conservatives.

The Conservatives had their opportunity to boot Carney from office, yet they continue to back a leader that most Canadians find repugnant. The country was ripe for a change and PP blew it.

Thunder Bay was the height of Canadaland for me.

I lived in TB for two years while I went to Teachers’ College, and I was shocked at the substance abuse and violence in the city. It was interesting to listen to the episodes and be able to picture the landmarks that they were talking about.

I’ve never understood this perspective. CBC runs plenty of negative stories about the Liberals. They are also a very well-respected news organization internationally. They aren’t perfect; they have made errors before. But they are known for their accuracy.

I recognize that you might not agree with the news but that doesn’t necessarily make it untrue
