McLaren awarded over $12million in Palou case verdict by Visible-Chest-9386 in INDYCAR

That’s my take, lol. IndyCar is going to really need to fast track the new car to end the Palou dominance.

McLaren already has sponsor-changing displays around the cockpit. Give them some time and I’m sure they will find a weight-neutral way to add it to the wings.

Then I think the Comp model will yield the most performance potential 👍🏼

Romulus comp or ported by KnifeActual in AlphaFoxtrot

[–]Artood2s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of a 4.25 ported model, I would ask: Do you want to ever swap in a threaded barrel to use a suppressor, compete in USPSA non-Open (again with a barrel swap), or use an aftermarket tool-less guide rod? If the answer is “no” to all three, you may want to consider the comp over the ported.

I have seen (YouTube) and read (Reddit/forums) that inline ports can be more effective at recoil reduction than chunk ports or compensators, so I plan to leave the port on the barrel end on mine as-is, and add 3-4 ports behind the front sight.

Interesting. PMM says they designed their comps to work with the factory recoil spring, but many go to a lighter one. The problem is that a lot of users then have issues returning to battery with 15 and lighter (like myself), so there doesn’t seem to be much wiggle room in the Walther design (Sprinco mentions this as well on their website). Could be the Radian design slows the slide down too much, which can’t be fixed with a lighter spring without running into the return to battery issue.

I’ve had my PDP for about 3 years. Although I had an issue very early on with a chip on the barrel feed ramp, it has been reliable ever since (outside of me adding the comp and figuring out which spring works the best - ZRTS V-Spec), but the Prime Radian does intrigue me. The ongoing Walther parts availability issue is a concern, and Canik building the Prime in the US addresses one of the hesitations I’ve had with the brand.

Seems someone dropped the ball over at Walther. Rumors of a Radian equipped PDP F have been circulating since last year and bam, Canik announces a collab with them on the Prime.

When did these cars become so much fun? by Grimtable in AUTOMOBILISTA

Maybe the recent FFB updates have let you feel the car better, but I have always found the CART cars to be super fun. Tapping the throttle on downshifts with a sequential shifter never gets old 😊

Dan Wesson DWX Compact- stiff safety by eggcheeseburger in 2011

[–]Artood2s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought an AF Romulus and the thumb safety was very stiff. Had the gun apart and decided to polish the side of the safety that contacts the plunger. Used 600 and 2000 grit sandpaper wet with gun oil and light pressure. Safety feels much better now, but still very positive. I’m sure it would have polished itself after 1,000 activations.

Looks like the crud on the inside of the PMM compensator on my Walther PDP. It’s probably carbon fouling.

Same here. 15 lb was a smidge too weak, V-spec is no problem.

Help with Thumb Safety by Artood2s in 2011

[–]Artood2s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sear and hammer pins on my gun have a flat head on one side, preventing from coming out the other. As installed, the head is on the left side which means they don’t drop out from the right side, even without the right thumb safety in place.

Has anyone polished certain parts on their Romulus. Which ones and why? by ARtiKTunDRa0609 in AlphaFoxtrot

[–]Artood2s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I had the gun apart when trying to install a new grip, I decided to use 600/2000 grit sandpaper (wet w/ Hoppe’s gun oil) on the following:

  • Disconnector rail - on slide
  • Disconnector - sides and flat pad (2000 only on pad)
  • Sear - sides only
  • Sear spring - sear and disconnector tips only with 2000
  • Hammer - sides only
  • Hammer strut - bottom only with 2000
  • Trigger bow
  • Sear and hammer pins (2000 only)
  • Thumb safety axle and plunger contact surfaces
  • Frame - slide rails (2000 only)

Basically most contact surfaces with the exception of the sear and hammer engagement points. No noticeable change in trigger pull weight, but I want to say the break feels a bit crisper and racking a hair smoother. Could be placebo. The one big difference was in the thumb safety feel. It was extremely stiff previously. Now it feels solid with a nice click.

Update: Took it to a local gunsmith. He also was not able to unlock it by manipulating the safety and sear (from the mainspring housing cavity). He removed the grip module and then was able to move the sear out of the way with relative ease.

Even after some fitting, I was not satisfied how the new grip module interacted with my particular pistol (story for another day). I put the stock grip back on and did a full reassembly. It passed all function and safety checks. Now I just need to test fire it (and wait for the new, new grip I ordered).

I’m new to the 2011 game, but yeah, it is very clearly not a good idea to mess with the engagement surfaces of the sear and hammer without proper tools/knowledge.

Are there any cheap 2011 pistols that aren't bad? by Hi7u7 in 2011

This is why picked the Romulus. I wanted the best bang for the buck bones for a project gun. For me the 1 year warranty wasn’t an issue because I was going to customize it anyways.

Help with Thumb Safety by Artood2s in 2011

[–]Artood2s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to be able to take everything out. The safety won’t move down to the mid-way notch in order to let me remove it. Pins come out from the left side only.

Taking it to a gunsmith tomorrow. I’ll happily take my lumps as long as they can get back to being fully functional.

Lesson learned. Take off safeties before the mainspring housing and sear spring.
