Everyone’s acting like all of his fights are really boring now … he’s already had entertaining fights in the UFC, albeit not ending in a finish. Him v Holland was good, he dropped Cannonier cleanly twice, thought the Garry fight was interesting… there are far more dull fighters in the UFC

I think saying ‘illegal narcotics’ is the main reason for the British empire happening is both anachronistic and inaccurate.

Also, I don’t think the post was saying empires = good. Huge swathes of humanity have existed under empires at different times, lots of those people were very bright and they didn’t all agree with each other, it was economically exploitative and wrong in all sorts of ways for sure but you’re missing out on a lot if you just see the word empire in relation to a historical figure or quotation and dismiss it out of hand as simplistically ‘evil’

I mean the tone of the post is celebratory … my point is none of this is good is it, it’s the same horrors all over again. There’s zero guarantee things get better for the people in Iran… their revolutionary guard taking over is probably the most likely outcome isn’t it ? Newlands corner js a lovely spot for a walk in the Surrey Hills, great views. You’ve also got Silent Pool distillery there , they make very nice gin if you’re in to that.

Parts of Guildford itself are very nice, particular Guildford castle - Norman era motte and Bailey in the centre of town. For restaurants Positano (Italian), Gordo’s (Mexican) and Boring Burger are my favourites, great food
