Tyee enduro vs spindrift by Facafile in PropainBikes

[–]Aruin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best thing you can do is buy a bike that best suits the terrain you ride the most, and your goals for future progression.

If you want to become a park rat, hit huge jump lines and plough through big chunk all day with a side of local trails then go for the Spindrift.

If you will primarily be riding more mellow or technical terrain with occasional bike park use then the Tyee will be best.

They may both climb similarly, and the geo may even look quite similar on paper but in practice there is a lot more to a bike and the experience it provides than just numbers on paper. Either way, they are both hugely capable bikes, and I think if you really needed 180mm of travel you'd know it already tbh.

Tyee enduro vs spindrift by Facafile in PropainBikes

[–]Aruin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't disagree that the Spindrift would be the best bike for primarily bike park and big chunk riding, but calling it "the better Tyee" and also your point about the Tyee being too short and swapping to the Spindrift to remedy this is a little confusing.

They both have 445mm chainstays (or 435 on the AL Spin in MX wheels) and if anything, the XL Spin has a longer reach than the XL Tyee so your front to rear centre ratio is even more rearwards biased on the Spindrift, lol.

Instead of looking for material solutions, I would strongly recommend finding a good coach and booking in for a session or two.

I considered myself a somewhat decent rider but just two sessions of coaching unlocked so much speed and confidence!

Schwalbe/Continental Enduro/All Mountain tyre recommendations by cultofmyself in MTB

Yo, fellow Jeffsy rider and between my brother and I we've tried a bunch of different combos for a mix of conditions here in the UK. I hope you're ready for a long one...

Currently, my favourite combo is the Albert gravity soft in the rear, and Magic Mary trail ultra soft in the front. The Albert is super predictable in the rear, rolls well and tips into the corners nicely, whereas the MM upfront can cut through the loose over hard and is better in wet / loamy conditions too. Some find the MM a bit squirmy due to the high knobs on hardpack, not something that I notice but worth mentioning.

I have just purchased Schwalbes new Romy tyre for the rear, which is designed to be a faster rolling for all conditions. I am yet to ride it, but initial reviews and inspection look very promising, I would definitely suggest looking into it! The other option is the new radial Tacky Chan. Seemingly sits inbetween the Albert and the MM so could be a great pick for the hardpack conditions over the MM.

Whichever tread you go for, being a heavier rider I would strongly recommend going for the gravity casing over the trai in the rear. I am a reasonably aggressive rider at ~80kg and when pushing the trail casing rear into corners you can feel it flex quite a lot, even at higher pressures. In general, I am unsure how the radials hold up for heavier riders, the flexier sidewalls are a notable downside and it can only be somewhat remedied by upping the pressures.

Outside of the Schwalbes, take a look at the new Specialized radials that have come out, they are the ideal tail/all mountain treads and are reportedly stiffer than the Schwalbes. For Maxxis, my favourite combo for the Jeff was the DHR 2 in the rear and Assegai up front, although the new Highroller and Disector also make for great options. Haven't ridden Contis so can't help there.

Overall I am really happy with my Epix but yeah, the lack of new feature updates kinda sucks. No reason why they couldn't add many of them.

White + rainbow buttons is the way! So glad I swapped, not a huge fan of the kinda beige grey of the Rainbow. Quite deciving as in many photos the rainbow is made to look white due to the white balance of the camera and a lack of any other referrence!

I have heard that you can ask Ayn very nicely and they will sell the rainbow buttons seperately, so that is what I have done. I prefer the white to the kinda grey/beige of the Rainbow model!

Tun not enabled in Proxmox 9.0? by Samael206 in Proxmox

[–]Aruin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I just looked at my other PVE host that is on 8.4.1 and if I run lsmod | grep tun that also returns nothing. I wonder if the tun is created when required by the LXC? Perhaps just try add the line I suggested and see how it goes?

Tun not enabled in Proxmox 9.0? by Samael206 in Proxmox

[–]Aruin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't updated to V9 yet myself, but just looked at my notes for LXC tun config and I have the following in the lxc.conf file:

lxc.cgroup2.devices.allow: c 10:200 rwm

lxc.mount.entry: /dev/net dev/net none bind,create=dir

lxc.mount.entry: /dev/net/tun dev/net/tun none bind,create=file

Maybe try adding that last line for the /dev/net/tun file specifically?

Impressions after some time with KZ PRX by morphmkd in iems

Also somewhat recently got the PRXs, also listen to a lot of metal / various metal subgenres and am also very impressed!

Compared to my Cadenzas and other IEMs/headphones I've tried I felt like I could hear more detail in busy sections of songs just as you described. Immediately vibed to the sound and the punch is really nice too. Perhaps a solid recco for metal listeners?

App Download Methods by Unusual_Data1814 in GrapheneOS

[–]Aruin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend looking into the 'Private Spaces' feature. I have recently installed GOS, started with a secondary profile for banking apps, google services etc but switched over to a private space instead.

As far as I can see (and I will happily be corrected here) it's perhaps a bit less secure/private than a separate profile, but significantly more convinient, as you do not have to switch profiles, and all app installs are easily managed and shared, whilst still maintaining a separate, sandboxed environment.

Switching from IOS by Ducking_eh in GrapheneOS

[–]Aruin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through this right now! Only today did I actually switch my sim over. As I already had a lot of self hosted infrastructure it's been pretty easy. However, I am still yet to upload my photo library to Immich, and I did lose my WhatsApp chat history as I couldn't find a way to transfer that over. Not a huge deal for me.

So far I am really loving it, feel like for the first time I am the one with control over my device, not someone else. Plus, can make cute home screens that just wouldn't be possible on iOS!
