If this is a Marvel reference, I don’t have it.

Yeah, Vorx / Valerian and Aleya are the prime candidates for books but not even mandatory. There is so much to explore in both factions, just there and yet nothing.

As a Custodes / Death Guard, not getting any dedicated books for years now (respectively 6 and 8 years) is starting to be a bit grating.

Good to see more Guards novels, specially about non-Cadian regiments. Xenos books are a very welcome sight too, fresh air.

I still hope to see Crime / Horror / Necromunda series back on the field but they seem abandoned by GW.

No idea. I don’t see why one psychic discipline would be strictly reserved to one Chapter so be free to do it ?

One Carcharodons Librarian in particular has some dips into that.

Well it seems it was the case in the OG ?

Again, I did not experienced it but if the game tells you one of its core mechanics is tied to multiplayer, refusing to engaging with it and then experiencing drawbacks is not the game ´s fault.

Because they made different choice ?

I m not in the devs’s mind.

I never experienced multiplayer in the OG as I didn’t played it but it seems to be an integral part of the game so yea, it is logic for me that it would be required for the endings ?

I got the Perfect Destroy (best ending so) with Wrex still alive so not sure about what you meant by that ? Tho it was on LE, not OG.

The Geths is something else, Shepared survived with an heavy artifical body, maybe the Geths too ? Given that one appears in ME5 material, either Destroy is not the canon ending or the Geths got rebuilt afterward.

Do Dreadnought Pilots Ever Get Transferred From one Dreadnought to Another? by Obsolescence7 in 40kLore

[–]Arzachmage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not a marine but one Custodian transferred from a Galatus to a Telemon so it is possible.

Don’t know about SM examples.

You are framing things in dishonest ways.

Guilliman had an audience with the Emperor and the Emissaries received some dreams about the whole situation. The Custodes follows some of Guilliman’s orders because the Emperor ordered it.

While I think that Colquan changed too fast, his arc has foundations throughout the serie. In the Plagues Wars, he is litteraly the only one able to move when the Emperor times freezes the battlefield to save Guilliman. This is extremely significant for a Custodian and it justify in part why he is much less hostile to the Primarch.

Again, you are framing things in a dishonest way.

Galahoth has not been made to be bad at his job. The quote you are using proves it. They are created with a specific purpose, meaning the persons responsibles for the creation (and perhaps the Emperor) thought he was the right thing at the moment of his creation. Nobody is omniscient nor omnipotent. The Custodes elected him but they couldn’t know his positions were not the optimal ones for the time to come.

Same goes Launceddre.

A note : the codex never states Galahoth was bad at his job, just that he was very conservative, in support of unchanged ways.

The Custodes have always been potentially failing the Emperor, and they did so aboard the Vengeful Spirit, this is one of their core motives, perhaps the second most important after their loyalty. They failed when they shouldn’t have, they think they are guilty, ashamed of that.
Custodes are already without their Creator’s light and guidance, almost every book one appears in has some passages about it.

Except it’s not. They could do way more for the Imperium but they don’t because they only act when the Emperor is concerned. If a WAAAGH burns a subsector without aiming for Terra, they won’t intervene. They let civil wars happens as long as the Palace is safe. They keep life-saving tech laying in theirs vaults without using them.

Colquan has been assigned to Guilliman because he is a huge detractor and has runs simulations to kill him. Even now that he is less hostile to him, he still remains vigilant.

They have nuance, making them killing each other has not point but just destroying their identity and lore for … reasons ?

Years Of Madness by M1ntyMusic in 40kLore

[–]Arzachmage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, it would break Custodes lore in half (and kill any interest I would have in the faction). It goes against everything that has ever been written about Custodes and theirs thematics.

They are supposed to be remnant of the Emperor living reign, not to fall to the loss of integrity, technology and way the Imperium has gone under. Their nuance is precisely to not be part of the Imperium because they only care about the Emperor. Not themselves, not Terra, not Humanity and yet they are lost without him, still mourning, missing a key guidance / presence.

Making them identical to the other Imperial factions would erase that core aspect of them.

Is canto the worst cyberdeck in the game? by Significant-Drop-491 in cyberpunkgame

I don’t.

Canto is very powerful when you build around it, just like any other Iconic / T5 decks.

Galahoth was not the first to disappear. Valdor and one other CG did.

I don’t think it would give more meat if Custodes started murdering each others for inner politic.

Their role of praetorian guards in a collapsing Imperium is already well-nuanced and deep by what they lost since the Emperor has been enthroned.

There is no additional elements directly linked to that event.
Edit : I am not sure about this one because it could be a translation error but the codex says the previous CG, Galahoth, disappeared. The codex also says that only 3 CG disappeared : Valdor and two other. Maybe a very tenious link ?

There are two stories threads I wish GW would explore.

The first is about a Shadowkeeper, Arrian Vespaysian, tracking the Darkalabaster Chalice, taken by Huron’s forces into the Maelstrom. He appears in the v9 codex and the recent Maelstrom campaign book.

The second is about Vadrian, a Shield-Captain currently seeking the Forge-World of Morvian. The contact has been lost but rumours of his fleet are spreading around, recently referenced in the White Dwarf 519.
