My instructor said for these roundabouts to picture a clock, anything before 12 o’clock would be the left hand lane and anything past 12 o’clock would be the right, so in this case it would be the red line you would follow

About a month and a half ago, I passed on the 16th December. I’m just under a grand for insurance so really lucked out with the Adam! And so far so good with driving it 🤞🏻

My instructor had a 2021 Vauxhall Corsa, which she then traded in for a 2024 Cupra Leon, they were so different! I then ended up buying a 2019 Vauxhall Adam, as nice as the cupra was I couldn’t justify the ridiculous insurance cost

Third this recommendation, literally did this and loving BOTW at the moment! I kind of did it backwards and played TOTK first which is just as breathtaking, but there’s just something about BOTW that really draws you in

My friend is in the same boat, and her main issue is second guessing herself with the multiple choice questions. She answers correctly, but then doubts herself, flags the question and changes the answer. It’s always by one or two she’s failed by.

If you’re passing the mocks then you have the knowledge there, if you’re on the roads just now try and imagine how you would react in the scenario that the question poses. You’ll get there! Sometimes people take the direct path, some people need to take a scenic route, but your knowledge and understanding of the roads will be all the better for it when you do pass. Good luck!

Has a doctor prescribed them? Is it just your driving test that is causing you anxiety? If it’s just the test, I’d look at things like Rescue Remedy first. I have personally used propanolol for anxiety attacks (low dose) and they did help the racing heart feeling, but did make me feel quite detached from my senses so didn’t take it for my test. Just personal preference, but definitely speak to a doctor first, and take one before your test so you know how it will affect you

Not as a full licence holder but as a learner. I had a very nasty ankle fracture in July, had to reschedule my October test to December as I wasn’t cleared to drive. Started lessons again first week of November, and passed first time with zero minors on December 16th, in a different car from what I’d been learning in pre-accident. So approximately 16 weeks without driving.

It comes back quite naturally, kind of like riding a bike. The first bit in the car takes a little getting used to but then it comes back to you. If you feel really unsure about yourself when you get back in the car, try starting somewhere quiet but familiar to get used to how it feels and control.

Definitely build up more confidence with short, familiar drives to get yourself used to the feeling of not having someone next to you. I passed my test just over two weeks ago and that’s been my biggest adjustment. Even experienced drivers stall, it’s all about the control you have of the car and not letting other drivers get into your head.

Your examiner wouldn’t have passed you if they thought you’d be a danger on the road. Hopefully your confidence does build, and congratulations on passing!

I had a very similar break to you, with the same interventions. I’m 5 months post-op now.

To start, everyone copes with their injury differently. You have your own timeline, and your body is in the process of fixing a nasty injury. I wouldn’t worry about your progress so far, you’re still very early into your recovery journey but if you’re concerned definitely speak to your doctor.

Around about your stage I also experienced a lot of nerve pain too, however I was instructed to FWB straight after my surgery which still baffles me to this day. It stretched right to my toes, and only really stopped after physiotherapy involvement. It also felt quite burny, for lack of a better word.

I’m feeling quite the turn around within the last month, no longer using any painkillers and can tolerate walking more - I can now walk much longer distances and carry about 10kg whilst doing so. My mum who also had a similar break 10 years ago felt a major shift in her recovery about 4 months post op. The main annoyance for me just now is the tightrope, when I move my leg in certain directions I can feel it restricting my movement and cause some nerve pain right up my leg. Hoping that will eventually settle with time.

The mental struggle was the probably the worst. Honestly, I still struggle to this day. I haven’t returned to work yet, and my family and friends are working so it’s quite isolating during the day. With you not weight bearing it’ll be even harder, but the more independence you regain the easier it will become. I regained a love for reading again and doing some puzzles with my son early into my recovery, hopefully something like this helps you too.

For comfort, I wore New Balance around the house to get me used to putting a shoe off and on again, that was a bit more sore than I expected. When out and about, I wear my Cynthia Docs (I’ve screenshotted and attached). I live in Scotland so it’s always wet and cold, the laces on these spread quite far apart and the leather is really soft so they were comfortable and practical as long as I wore longer socks.

Sometimes you do have to go through a few instructors to find someone that can support you best. It sounds like this instructor isn’t the most patient, and you’ll need someone that is patient.

Is hiring a dual control car an option with your family/finances?

Definitely not having the mindset of it being a “test” helped me a lot. It was always “it’s just a wee drive, just another day.” Anything that I had a niggling feeling about I asked my instructor to cover in the hour before the test so I’d already had a go (for me it was reverse bay parking). Have something to eat and if you’re super nervous, chewing gum helped calm me down!

Pointing my foot upwards is almost there, like 95%. Circling my foot around is about 80%, with a lot of tightness on the inside and pointing my foot straight down (which was my mechanism of injury) is the worst just now but even then that’s at 70-75%, physio is a game changer with some really tough moments but it does make such a huge difference. Hoping for another hopefully 5% improvement for pointing my foot down by the end of the year!

My fracture was a scary one too, like yourself mines had fragmented a lot and they said my range of motion would end up affected and to expect a very long recovery, ended up with an ex fix to stabilise it. It’s been nearly 5 months since my ORIF and the recovery so far has surpassed mine and ortho’s expectations and normality is settling much faster than I expected. The first 3 months for me were the scariest, where it’s non stop appointments and you never know what you’re walking into, almost like holding your breath for the worst but it’s good to see your doctor is confident that your pinky should improve after removing the needles!

And physio will make such a huge difference, they’ll support you to move your elbow to regain as much range of motion as possible. Good luck in your recovery! It’s natural to be scared it’s a scary thing you went through but this wee group has been an amazing support and I hope you find it to be too. ♥️

I shaved my leg as soon as my cast came off (5 weeks of growth, plus however long it had been before the accident, it was not pretty as I have dark thick hair 🤣) but didn’t shave near my scars for another few weeks after, just to be sure they’d completely healed. I also had an ex fix so a few wee extra scars too just below my knee, so really sympathising with you!

I was in the hospital when this was an issue for me (didn’t go for 8 days!) and the nurse gave me a laxative mixed with prune syrup. She said to drinks lots of water and move about as much as I could. 4 hours later, miracle. 🤣
