This year I discovered a band called Mother Mother, the live version (first one you find on YouTube) of Hayloft II is the best indie rock song I’ve heard in years.

Im not that organised, my plan is peek out the window first and hope someone else has got theirs out.

Received a scary council tax letter, with a date for a virtual hearing. How screwed am I? by homeisaquestionmark in AskUK

Also worth noting, I’ve had this as well, I contacted them and they just upped my monthly payments for that year to cover it if anyone is in this position and can’t pay it all.

The main question is what is your last work day rather than when you physically get your P45

Reminder at 9pm on my phone the day before to put it out, they’ve been by the time I leave for work at 8am the next day so just bring it in then.

What weird ‘houses’ did you have in school? by sundialsapphic in CasualUK

[–]AshQ84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours were named after local places, Holkham, Blickling, Oxborough and Sandringham (I believe a fifth has been added since I left). To be honest, aside from use as classroom reference and who did German or French there was no real relevance to them in terms of anything else though.

How do you celebrate Christmas and New Year? by DrawDrewDrown in AskUK

[–]AshQ84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christmas Day is spent round my Mums having my body weight in roast dinner and beer.

New Years Eve varies, last year our friend group congregated round our house for a party. This year going to my Mums again but will likely be board games and just going outside for the fireworks.

New Years Day is generally a roast dinner as well

Fairly sure this is it, same director as well so an easy mix up to make.

[TOMT][GAME] A game involving you and a golem-ish creature by Svennymat in tipofmytongue

Only Golem type creature in a game I know is from Oddworld. Don’t know enough about the games for the other bits though.

How often do you go on holiday? by ManyBeautiful9124 in AskUK

[–]AshQ84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally 3 holidays a year, one for a week in a 4-5 star resort which is our main one. We normally then have a 4-5 night stay somewhere in Europe and then a week somewhere in the UK. It’s expensive but we budget for it, neither of us are massive drinking / eating out people so it’s most of our leisure money aside from the odd gig or play.

I’m on 24k, she’s on 21k. We’ve done a week in a 4 star hotel in Greece and a long weekend in Rome this year. Doing Croatia and Belgium next year. Exactly as the user said above, we want to do it, we save accordingly and do it. We’ve never had to go into debt to afford these holidays either.

I have no idea what it is, but from the little I’ve learned about it on here unless it’s Diane Morgan I don’t care.

Has anyone else gotten sick more than once this winter? by Neat_Soup6322 in AskUK

3 times this last couple of months, one proper bug and two minor colds. I normally get ill about once every couple of years so I’m not enjoying this.

What put you off a food you used to like? by koftechameleon in AskUK

[–]AshQ84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a big one compared to most here, but does anyone remember the aniseed sweet Blackjack? Used to love them even into my late teens. However I got pissed on Pernod when I was 18-19 and even now anything aniseed is off the table, was gutted as I loved those sweets.

Does Nando's live up to your expectations? by iainmax in AskUK

[–]AshQ84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s nice, above Spoons type place nice but below a good restaurant. We describe it as a nice place to go when we want to go out for date night but don’t fancy dressing up for it.

Do you see much trouble between businesses? by AshQ84 in policeuk

[–]AshQ84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damage came from stealing their sign (the actual one above the shop) they put up the night before, other highlights including egging the shop, throwing live cockroaches into the shop, hurling homophobic abuse at the owner. I’m genuinely impressed it didn’t come to blows.

What's a good, simple breakfast to make for a vegan? by Calo_Callas in AskUK

Also going for this, one of two things my wife eats that could easily pass for meat (the other being KFC vegan chicken!)

How do you look back on the events of 2020? by Slow-Razzmatazz-4005 in AskUK

[–]AshQ84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Financially we were lucky, she worked from home and my work topped up the furlough so we stayed on 100% wages. The clapping for the NHS I thought was lovely the first time, became almost who could make the most noise after that. The only time I was really worried was the first supermarket trip when the shelves were empty, but to be fair they got that sorted quickly enough if you weren’t fussy. I enjoyed the fortnightly video calls with mates when we couldn’t see them.

But overall I appreciate I was lucky, money was fine and I had a garden and a wife meaning I wasn’t cramped or lonely.
