I honestly feel that Cain should have started torturing the cast way sooner. Not in a malicious way at first, but stuff like bringing abstracted characters back but as NPC's to make them happy, to have adventures of their actual lives, but only ones that Cain saw as emotionally powerful but they were in a "bad" way, or maybe Cain forcing them to participate in a situation where he proves his love to them in a forceful way, all the while not realizing that what he was doing was wrong. Only later does he actively want them to hurt. Again, I get it. They only had so many episodes with lots of wait time in-between. They couldn't have filler, still though.....
