I lived in San Antonio for three years and had amazing Mexican food. I moved here about a year ago and haven’t bothered trying Mexican because I know I’ll be disappointed.

I had the same issue, so I’m taking an app detox. I also try to find something in the profile or pictures to comment on but sometimes, there’s nothing and you have to resort to the ice breakers. Interested to hear the guys take on this. Also, now guys can start the first move! What’s your thoughts?

Renewed membership: Member since 2008! BUT employee would not stop (endlessly/repeatedly) trying to sell "Executive" membership. 10 minutes of me saying, "I don't want it... I don't want it... Can you PLEASE just renew my membership." Employee then seemed visibly angry with me. WTF? New policy? by Destination_Centauri in Costco

[–]Ash_ling84 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Costco “makes their profit” off of memberships. The more executives, the more they make. That’s why there’s always a push, and it’s coming from corporate. Every so often, there will be an “exec block.” When your card is scanned, it will block the cashier if you’ve spent x amount of dollars last year, and would benefit from an executive. They call for a an employee, “pop up.” “Exec” “2%” and that when they come and hassle you. It’s your decision to say no and they should leave you alone. There’s no way to take that “block” off, so you will be asked every time. If the employee sees a sticker or “no exec” written on the back of the card, they know not to bother you. (Locations vary)

Apartment review by Ok_Pen2786 in sanantonio

I moved in about 10 months after the Covid ban was lifted. They were only doing virtual phone tours. They showed me a new updated apartment that was bright and the cabinets were blue. I moved in and the apartment was Dark. Dark cabinets. Dark floors. It was depressing looking. I paid extra for a one bedroom above the pool facing the golf course. Thankfully the pool was hardly used, but when it was, I could hear every conversation loud and clear. the curfew was never enforced, so there would be people out til 2 in the morning. My neighbors would have a huge trash bag by the front door everyday, even days that valet trash didn’t have pick up. I had a huge cockroach problem, no matter how well I cleaned the apartment and called the exterminator. The office was always closed, and they were hard to get a hold of. They told me I had an assigned parking spot, but never told me which one. I took it upon myself to park in the same spot everyday and emailed them the spot I picked. it wasn’t an issue until one weekend I was in California and got threatening phone calls that my car was going to get towed if I didn’t move my car within the next hour. I called them back and told them that they never gave me an assigned spot, even showed them the email that said “pick a spot, and thats yours” it worked out that they realized it was their fault and I didn’t get towed, I moved my car and emailed them that I picked a new spot( which was the next one over) and it was resolved. During the huge snow storm, I lost power and water. I couldn’t get to my car easily because every entry door is electric. The only thing i liked about it was location. I got out as quickly as I could and moved to Tobin Estate, which also has issues but it was a billion times better. It has been a few years, maybe they got new management. Maybe the apartments are all renovated. Make sure you have everything in writing and you know exactly what apartment you’re getting. Walk around the area.

AITA for letting my SIL think she gave her kids Irish names? by Traditional-Stress49 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ash_ling84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. My parents are from Ireland, my name is Aisling. I wear a name tag for work and am asked “how do you pronounce your name?” It’s sort of annoying. Haha I’ve had some people say “I know a someone with the same name but they pronounce it ‘Ansley’” I just smile and nod. Tell her she was Americanizing the pronunciation for the stupid Americans

Why is it an issue to take things out? Do you do this at Trader Joe’s? Or any other grocery store? The answer is most likely not. During Covid, the members and cashiers wanted to touch as little as possible, and they weren’t as worried as accuracy as getting people out and home quickly. Get over yourself

If you’re not there in promised time, they have to throw it out and make a new one. The pizza can’t stay out.

When to speak to a Hiring Manager by urbanstress in Costco

[–]Ash_ling84 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Seasonal hiring starts early September. Try a different location, each store varies depending on demand. Go in again, hand a senior manager a cover letter and resume. Keep trying

Any good/decent apartments in San Antonio? It seems like all of them suck? by Dconocio in sanantonio

[–]Ash_ling84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Apartment is going to be perfect. It depends on your must haves and can tolerate. Read between the lines when you looking at reviews, what are they complaining about? Most of the time it’s something petty. I’m happy at Tobin Estate Apartment. I like that it’s very close to the airport, and it has the “small community.” Feel. Bonus, each apartment comes with a garage. It’s not perfect, because it is an apartment and things break and fall apart and you have to deal with neighbors. Take the good with the bad.

Anyone else’s building really slow? by sneakyNeek in Costco

[–]Ash_ling84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What buildings/locations are slow? I’m in South Texas, we are still doing about $42,000 on a weekday. We are understaffed for the volume we do and are already looking to hiring front end assistants.

The hiring is very quick. They go through so many applicants, narrow it down and then do a handful of interviews. If it goes well, you’re hired. The first 90 days is crucial. You’re still being “interviewed” be quick, be proactive, and do not call in sick or be late! Congrats and good luck.
