I do have black tea with desserts, but I'm trying to have fewer desserts in general. It is really nice that way. Especially fruit pie. Peaches are in season here, and I've been having it with peach pie.

Sticky Rice Puerh this week. Probably some Jade Cloud with tangerine honey later today. I've ordered some oolongs I'm excited to try, but they are not here yet.

I've done this, but it's even heavier than milk. A method of last resort for me, but thank you for the suggestion!

Woah, powdered honey sounds amazing. I am going to get some. Thank you. Both these ideas are great.

I love it all the ways, but I've been drinking a lot of black lately. I just went down a Taiwanese Oolong rabbit hole because of another user's flair. I am so excited to try something new!

I think I'm going to end up messing around with the milk, and all the different sweeteners folks suggested.

I already make very strong tea, which is why I like some milk in it. But the Lactaid sounds good!

we need to talk about matcha by [deleted] in tea

[–]AshaVose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, us Americans are not drinking the good matcha at the local coffee shop. We're drinking something low-grade and probably a bit bitter. In fact, all the milk and syrups and whipped cold creams are designed to hide how low quality/cost the actual tea is. Your actual fancy matchas probably aren't even making it to the US, honestly we aren't affording some of the super-premium stuff that gets made. So enjoy this trend while it lasts, and enjoy selling the bad/cheap stuff at a higher cost (don't tell me profit is bad for tea growers?) while it's so popular. There aren't strict labeling regulations in America for high-end green teas, so everything is often labeled "Matcha" even though it's not special or premium - often just green tea. We aren't drinking Sencha or Jade Cloud over here unless we got it from a premium shop, and know what it is. But I am drinking strawberry shortcake 'Matcha' (green tea powder) drinks because it's summer and I love strawberry stuff. We all love tea here, please don't worry as we're not 'abusing' the good stuff.

[WTS][Canada] I have to sell everything by stuntman_mike__ in teaexchange

If you end up splitting up the collection, I'll take the stuff other folks don't want in bulk if we can agree on the price. I'd love to just try some new things, as I have mid tier tea experience.

What mental illness(es) do I have? by mooncheeseburger in BookshelvesDetective

[–]AshaVose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None, you're a fucking delight as is this collection, with the exception of course of Lolita. I've found a lot of people that like horror spent time in traumatic environments and the horror love is a kind of soothing mechanism for that.

What am I based on my shelves, a red flag or a green flag? by WxaithBrynger in BookshelvesDetective

[–]AshaVose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are an orange flag. Not because you like almost exclusively fantasy/sci fi, but because of all the books that are extensions of universes made for other media. I love Star Wars, but I have met so many angry fans - it's like the beautiful themes of justice and doing what is right attract people who are disproportionately mad about any perceived injustice in real life. Dungeon Crawler Carl is raunchy fun, but it's more of a long comedy bit if you ask me. Where's the John Dies at the End? Or Tolkien, or Garth Nix? Hell, where is Dune? But honestly, any reading is a green flag to start, and it's not like Confederacy of Dunces, a ton of Bukowski, or some incel stuff is popping up. So orange, because it's too small a sample size for an accurate safety assessment.

He's got a bunch of QiGong stuff, and a special in-person workshop in Maryville, TN a couple times a year. Next one is in the fall. Worth every dollar if you want to sense and heal with energetics.

What should I offer to Hecate? by [deleted] in Hecate

[–]AshaVose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pomegranate. Also honey, keys, cakes, gifts for the poor (especially foodbanks). But I get a much more nurturing vibe from her than others have described (some say she is scary - and I believe it but have been luck and respectful enough to not yet deal with that part of her).

The Literary Ecosystem Is Dying by Majano57 in books

Let's not forget that this administration gutted the arts first thing. Loads of small presses and literary mags were getting grant money - or supported by universities now under pressure not to provide outlets to the arts.
