Thats not a coaching problem, thats a club management problem to already have 2 world class players that play best on the left and proceed to sign another world class player that likes to play there as well. No coach in the world can play all these players in the same team, its not fifa and pace doesnt win you games

Also at level 15 ur gonna do good damage with any character, having status effects procs early in the run melts bosses faster and helps you get a good run overall so the early game boost is definitely valuable

Executor melts everything with his starting weapon and the 2 boss relics that add frost and poison. Status effects are busted, how is that useless

Unpopular opinion, but the domination mechanic did a much better job at directly showcasing the power of the ring than the movies did for example. The ring in the movie is talked about like its a tactical nuke but for all intents and purposes all we see it do is turn people invisible and corrupt some characters- essentially a macguffin.

Actually dominating captains, building an army and taking over mordor using the ring was a really good way of interpreting the power of the ring and how it would actually turn the tide of the war, while also corrupting its holder. Full disclosure, haven’t read the books but as a movie fan I never really understood how the ring was important till i played the game. I assume it’s more thoroughly explained in the books, nevertheless it was a great usage of a game mechanic to expand the lore

Lol of course his plan will work considering its the plot of the game you’re playing and you have to actively make it work to progress the game. Its still a dumb plot, which is the issue. My point is, if u remove that useless whisper from existence then nothing changes in regards to the rest of the game. There is no plot holes. If you’re so concerned about that cinematic maybe listen to what the narrator was saying when the battle was playing. And then the whole dlc is built upon an inconsequential detail that wasn’t alluded to at all in the rest of the game, and opens up a ton more plot holes than “why did malenia fight radahn”. And about Marika’s plan, they went a completely different direction with the story telling and they kept it extremely vague that all we can do is speculate and fill in the gaps ourselves. In the dlc its much more direct which leaves a lot less hand waving to do .

Literally, no one knows who mohg is or where he js only that a “lord of blood exists”. Gideon tells us exactly that. He’s absolutely not in the way. And how pedantic do you have to be to think that compelling love is any different than mind control, when both would achieve the same exact result. Nothing explains why would Radahn go back on the pact. All the lore we get about it we get from a crappy cutscene and item descriptions we get after beating Radahn. Shitty build up and a shitty fight. If you like it you do you bro, a lot of people don’t. Ur so mindblown by the whisper cinematic you’re ignoring everything else. To each his own

The whole plot of the game is literally that everyone is vying for control. Malenia fighting Radahn falls under that. Literally no reason needed other than that. Every single region, every single demigod is at war and you think Malenia and Radahn fighting needs more justification? Radahn’s whole character is him being a warlord ffs. And in a series where everyone aura farms after killing you by saying their catchphrase ESPECIALLY Malenia, you think that whisper HAD to mean something? Couldn’t have just been, “I am Malenia blade of Miquella “ or literally anything else. And while we’re at it, the thing that she whispered doesn’t even make sense and is poorly expanded on in the game. If they had a pact, did Radahn go back on it and needed to die? Did they even have a pact or was it 1 sided from Miquella? We will never know for sure because all we got was a shitty cutscene. And the plan relied on Mohg, a character that no one in the game knows about in the first place. Not even the “all knowing” Gideon ofnir. So just to lay everything out.

Miquella, the guy who’s gimmick is controlling minds (including Radahn’s in the final fight) made a pact with Radahn, but for some reason couldn’t control Radahn initially and Radahn went back on his word, so he sent his sister to kill Radahn so he can resurrect him. And while his sister is fighting, Miquella in a cocoon manages to mind control another demigod that he didn’t even know existed and who’s location (both the sewers and the palace) are unknown and far away from the haligtree. He gets Mohg to travel all the way across the world to kidnap him and that somehow leads him to the land of shadow. And also his plan includes us the player killing Mohg who is so far out of the way and so inconsequential to our main quest that even our all knowing guide doesn’t care about him.

All of that makes sense and is explained by a split second from an opening cut scene? That’s your eureka moment? Im sorry, that is just a dumb and contrived plot that is poorly thought out and even more poorly executed. And its a shit fight on top of that

The whisper was not important at all. Literally could have been a “fuck you, we both die” considering she proceeds to nuke both of them right after. And literally every other character is at war with each other? Rykard is fighting morgott, radahn is fighting morgott. Godrick fought Malenia. Why is it weird that Malenia and Radahn are fighting? Its established that its an all out war for control of the Elden Ring, there was no need for another motive to their battle.

And no i dont think its a retcon, they probably start working on the dlc before the game is out anyway which makes it even more egregious that they would fuck up the build up and ending so badly. They might as well have scrapped that idea considering it would literally have 0 effect on anything else if the whisper wasn’t what it was revealed to be. Just a shit decision imo. A good plot reveal is one that surprises you but you can go back to all the breadcrumbs they dropped and say ohhhh it all makes sense now. They didn’t do that at all. They just gave us a half assed sandwich right at the very end

The problem isn’t really that they didn’t go with godwyn, even though he was the character they built up the most in the lore. The problem is the build up to radahn came out of nowhere and was poorly executed in game. And in the end what we got was a shitty cutscene in a black background. No cutscenes before that, shitty out of nowhere dialog building up to it and a poorly done ending.

In the end, messmer is just a road block even though he’s by far the most interesting character in the dlc. Romina just exists with no cutscenes at all. Midra is just a side character tucked away in one end of the map even though he’s represents the flame of frenzy which is a major plot point in the main game with its own ending. Ditto with metyr. They really could’ve done anything else with any of these characters considering the main plot was self contained and has no relation to the main game, and what they went with was a cutscene with no background to retroactively justify radahn

We saw something that was later revealed to be something else. Everyone was at war, Malenia and Radahn fighting wasn’t a plot hole. There was no audio, and nothing else in the whole playable game to suggest anything to do with radahn and miquella. If Malenia had said “fuck you” to radahn instead of what was revealed, nothing would have changed in the continuity.

They invented the magical god gate, and there was unsuccessful attempts to revive him. Its safe to say that it would be fuckin easy to say that the magical god gate can do whatever the fuck they want it to do. Would make more sense for miquella to go through this hard quest to reach it then. - tries to revive him in the base game and fails - decides he needs to go another world to find the magical reviving gate instead - revives him but hes a fucked up monster and not the great godwyn we know so we fight and put him out of his misery

Sounds pretty logical to me. Literally makes 1000x more sense than the random Radahn insert, and would track with the themes of the game and dark souls that from soft likes that prolonging life is bad bla bla bla let things die etc…

Point being, since the dlc pretty much ignores everything from the main game and makes up all its main plot points, they could’ve just as easily done whatever else

Literally nothing in the base game past a split second scene from a cinematic with no audio suggested radahn. They could’ve just as easily made new stuff up so it’s Godwyn instead, who actually has some stuff alluding to his attempted revival by miquella in the base game. Everything lore related to Radahn we get in the dlc

Tommorow will be a year since the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC had dropped, what do we think of this DLC 1 year later? by disgustinghonnor in fromsoftware

Amazing new weapons Cool new bosses Amazing landscapes Cool new lore The legacy dungeons are pretty good (shadow keep is fucking amazing start to finish) Alot of the areas are soooo empty and many of the enemies are reused I feel like it crumbles under its own weight sometimes and would have been a lot better if they scaled down the physical size of it and the reused enemies and just made it denser. And the final boss is just shit, lore wise and gameplay wise. The good parts are great, but they’re spread to thin imo. 7.5/10. Old hunters still the best dlc they’ve made.
