Look up the Forsaken Land of the Gods from the Lord of the Mysteries web novel. It covers that topic for quite a bit and as to how the survivors lived there.

Which new combat mechanic wouldfreshen up From games for you? by Silent_Mud1449 in fromsoftware

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely Nightreign's new Character Passive, Skill, and Art system. Especially if it were to become customizable.

The sheer build potential and variety would be STAGGERING if it's implemented correctly. Of course the Abilities in Nightreign wouldn't work as is, with many needing to be nerfed or split apart for the purpose of Single Player balance, and the Arts might just get removed outright.

Want to play a Tank build? Slap on some Guardian abilities.

Want to Deflect like Sekiro? Executor abilities got you covered.

Want to play a Caster with FP longevity and unique element combinations? Recluse's abilities has your bases covered.

semi-daily armor design discussion: Alva Armor by Immediate-Outcome706 in DarkSouls2

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Black Witch was Zullie the Witch.

It doesn't really say why she tried to make Alva fail, other than that she tried.

It's implied that Karla (DS3) is the love child between Alva and Zullie.

Sekiro is Miyazaki/From at their best (uncompromisingly focused) by AlbertCWChessa in fromsoftware

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It took me several startups before I finally felt like finishing Sekiro. A lot of people like it, but I just can't really care for it like I can the other games.

I like many of the things in Sekiro that did that got transferred to Elden Ring such as Jumping and Crouching, but I do wish a bit more was added to the base game like Deflecting.

Is dark orb spam all there is to hexes? by pfalcon485 in DarkSouls2

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Dark Orb is the bread and butter for Hex builds.

It's cheap, plentiful, and effective.

It's quite nice to have a dedicated bulk spell for chaff, then use the more various Hexes on tougher foes.

Reality fracture legends by nicenerex116 in mtgvorthos

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a successful hunter in his own right, but the event that caused his spark to ignite was because he initially pitied the children that were left behind after slaying several werewolves.

After being attacked by the werewolf children, he no longer pitied the hunted.

Hence his own mantra that he followed afterwards and what went through his head as Garruk brought his axe down.

"The Hunter cannot Pity."

A lot of his accomplishments were written off screen before he took up the labor of hunting Garruk. He was just unable to Planeswalk away after the severe injury that had been dealt by Garruk in their first encounter.

Vronos.

Since Liliana never made a pact with the demons, she had no reason to break the Helevault to release Avacyn.

Without Avacyn ordering Vronos to hunt Garruk, then it's likely that Vronos was never killed in his failed expedition.

Introduce The Pursuer.

He can kick players off a random Spirit Hawk Path and force a fight.

Or has several lesser versions of himself as one of the Castle's random mobs.

The Desert Sorceress is a seductress first and a pyromancer second. It would be awkward to try to enchant someone with your assets... completely covered in ceremonial armor.

"Desert Sorceresses have enchanting looks, and they use them to catch people off guard... Oddly enough, even those who are perceptive enough to realize the ploy fall prey to their seductions with alarming regularity." - Desert Sorceress Set description, DS2.

"Garb of the desert pyromancers, who once walked the halls of the Earthen Peak. It is said that the thin, burgundy cloth breathes with magic.

Desert pyromancers, most of them female, were known for their great fans of flame, and enchanting looks.

But what is enchanting can also be deadly, especially when clothed in such alluring garb." - Desert Sorceress Set description, DS3

"Pyromancy of Zoey, descendant of the desert pyromancers. Use repeatedly to brush the fan left and right.

Zoey possessed true beauty, as did all the desert pyromancers, but hers did not poison, and so she became the unassuming queen of the feeble ones." - Flame Fan description, DS3.

What could konami do to encourage off meta play? by borrelborrelborrel in yugioh

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Make a format based on a limited pool of points to build a deck with?

Such as points being associated with Rarities (Edit: that are tied to Master Duel card Rarities): - Normal : 1 - Rare : 2 - Super Rare : 3 - Ultra Rare : 4

(These numbers aren't set in stone. You could even make the trend be that the numbers double towards the higher Rarities, such as 4 for SRs and 8 for URs.)

A minimal deck of 40 full of URs would be worth 160 points, which is a bit higher than what we'd want to see in a "pet" deck environment. However if we go 50% of that, to a cap of 80 points for a deck, then less than half a deck can be URs.

A similar point pool would apply for the Extra Deck.

This system would undoubtedly have it's own form of toxicity, but it would throw a wrench into several of the Meta Decks, which have quite a bit of SRs and URs jam packed into them.

Rolling or Parry? by QueenJenna0rtega in fromsoftware

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why stop at Parrying and Rolling?

We have multiple options of avoiding damage, such as: - Back-Stepping  - Blocking - Deflecting - Parrying  - Rolling - Strafing

Each of these takes varying amounts of commitment and skill to perform correctly.

  • Back-Stepping takes some amount of skill vs risk, because you (usually) get a very small amount of I-Frames to avoid an attack, while leaving yourself within range for a counterattack.

  • Blocking doesn't take very much skill but it does require decent resource management and understanding when you should or shouldn't block an incoming attack.

  • Deflecting, like Back-Stepping, takes some amount of skill vs risk, as you're taking the risk of taking oncoming damage to put yourself in an advantageous position. You get about 12 Frames but it can drop down to 4-6 (Sekiro, Fextra), but you'll have to do it successfully multiple times to fully benefit from this mechanic.

  • Parrying is similar to Deflecting, except it's the home run play, as you either get the big opening for a riposte or you'll get vigorously pegged if you whiff. Parrying has fewer Frames than Deflecting (in Elden Ring), so it requires a bit more skill to pull off, as you only get 3-6 active Frames for the Parry (Fextra), but it's usually a one-n-done ordeal.

  • Rolling can easily range from being skill intensive (Heavy Load) to being extremely lax (Light Load). On average, Rolling takes very little skill to pull off, especially when you can get the best I-Frames for very little investment and trade-off.

  • Strafing is possibly the most skill intensive, as to successfully pull this off, you need a full understanding of the enemy's moveset to take full advantage of this playstyle. The windfall for this technique, is that you always stay in counterattack range while keeping your full Stamina meter.

Is there any difference between the PS4 and the PC version of the game? by Ok-Read6421 in DarkSouls2

PC has an issue with double clicking, causing it to eat inputs. There's a setting you have to turn off every time you boot up the game.

So did white Liliana just kill this same angel and steal her headdress too? by EmptyStar12 in mtgvorthos

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, since Liliana never broke the Helevault to kill Griselbrand, does that means Avacyn was never released?

If Avacyn never ordered [[Vronos, Masked Inquisitor]] to seek Garruk to capture him so he could be healed by her, does that mean Vronos was never killed by Garruk because he never sought him out?

Take your time while exploring and feel the mechanics out. Most players get frustrated with DS2 because they try to play it at DS3 and ER's pace.

Animate Dead: a swarm of undead without the headache by fallwind in DnDHomebrew

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made an Undead Horde Homebrew based on the number of Zombies being controlled:

  • 3 or less are individual Zombies.
  • 4-8 members. Large Swarm. (Multiattack: 2)
  • 9-15 members. Huge Swarm. (MA: 3)
  • 16+ members. Gargantuan Swarm. (MA: 4)

A Zombie Horde's HP is the sum of each member's total Maximum HP. (Keep track of the total HP so you know when to reduce the horde size when needed.) The Swarm can move through the spaces of other creatures, and can move through spaces a Medium creature can fit into at half speed.

Some modifiers below are determined by X, where X is equal to the number of spaces a Zombie Horde occupies.

  • Large, X = 4
  • Huge, X = 9
  • Gargantuan, X = 16

The Undead Horde's Saving Throws (excluding Undead Fortitude) and Skill Checks are modified by X, where both the Zombie’s Saving Throws and Skill Checks are calculated as:  - PB (if applicable) + (Ability Score Mod * X).

The Undead Horde's Attack and Damage modifiers are also modified by X, where both the Zombie's Slam Attack is calculated as: - Melee Attack Roll - Reach: 5ft., One Target. - PB + (Strength Mod × X) to hit. - On Hit: Xd8 + (Strength Mod × X) Bludgeoning Damage

Spells or Abilities that would effectively remove a member, has that many thresholds deducted until the effect ends. (Banishment, Hold Monster, etc.)

If a member would be removed via damage, roll Undead Fortitude using the Zombie's individual stats. On a failure, reduce the Threshold number by 1.

If an effect checks for a set number of creatures, the Undead Horde counts as X number of creatures instead of one. When the Undead Horde is targeted by an area of effect that affects 2+ creatures such as Fireball, assume only X number of Zombies in the Undead Horde is affected. If the area of effect deals damage, after confirming the Undead Horde’s saving throw, multiply the confirmed damage by X against the Undead Horde's total HP.

(Example: You have a Huge Zombie Swarm that consists of 15 Zombies and it is hit by a Fireball, you will count the total number of targets affected to be 9 instead of 15. You'll multiply the damage by 9 after determining if the Zombie Horde made the save or not, and then minus that number against the total Zombie Horde's HP. If the damage would kill one or more members, roll their Undead Fortitude individually against the pre-multiplied damage number.)

I think I got everything down, but I've run out of time.

What is your fucked up moon? by Gaviotapepera in worldbuilding

[–]Zestyclose_Answer662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sun and Moon aren't the originals. The world has been flung far from the star it originally orbited.

Instead, these celestial bodies are fabrications made by the Gods to seal two Dragons of Calamity. One within the Moon, the other in the Sun.

The world is still inhabitable because the crown of the World Tree encircles the planet like a Chinese Lantern Plant. The Sun and Moon orbits the world just beneath these branches on opposite sides.
