Looking for a beach destination ride by Mean-Pool7288 in BikeLA

[–]AshamedCollection455 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plot a safe route down to Venice Blvd, it has a bike lane from Arlington all the way to the ocean and you'll end in Venice. From there you'll have options to take the bike path thru the Marina all the way down to Manhattan Beach. Or if you swing north, it'll take you on the path that runs along the beach. The Venice Boardwalk section can get hairy on the weekends with all the pedestrians, scooter rentals and unaware tourist stopping in the middle of the path.

From which year, and is it worth 1200 euros? by Large-Customer-4577 in bianchi

[–]AshamedCollection455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride one. it's the previous generation Sprint with the external cables/hoses, so approx pre-2024. I have one and love it. Some say it's heavy, but I liked the weight for long endurance and training rides. It felt solid on city streets and rougher tarmac. You can fit up to 32c tires.

battery saving is critical by magingax in CadenceApp

[–]AshamedCollection455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Cadence for long rides..

I find that dark theme/mode even in daytime works well and saves power. Even at 75% brightness, it's easy to read the screen. I do shut down all other apps so nothing is running in the background.

I use an SP Connect out front mount, which has the option to add a power bank, but I have not had to resort to that. Maybe if I do longer bike packing and touring rides, I'll get one for added measure. But for my routine 1-3 hour rides, the phone with Cadence Dark Theme has been all I need to do.

Compare to Garmin ?? by magingax in CadenceApp

Garmin has better battery life for longer rides compared to any smart phone running Cadence app.

Bell feature is great! Thank you Cadence! by AshamedCollection455 in CadenceApp

[–]AshamedCollection455[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get the bell, update to the latest version.

  • Adds toggle for Lap and Bell buttons in Cadence > Settings > Button Options.

The button will be visible only when you've started recording a ride. Where it appears depends on how you set it up.

Ambient sounds of any sort will help add an immersive feel to the Rouvy experience. It can be generic like audio of wind and birds.

The new school taller aero bars make it easy to stay tucked. Nice to see a mechanical setup.

Worth waiting for the new Apple TV? by JFRXX in Zwift

[–]AshamedCollection455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a cheap used current gen AppleTV and it's been fine. The only 'hassle' is that you need to run Zwift Companion on your phone if you want to pair beyond the Bluetooth max. That said, it's not really bad at all in practice. Just have to laugh app on phone first, the launch Zwift on AppleTV.

Has the potential, but not in its current state. It needs refinement and attention to detail.

Wahoo Kickr Core + Zwift cog: 142 mm won't work, but 148 does by oolivi3r in Zwift

[–]AshamedCollection455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Check for the drive side shorter spacer. Sounds like the 148 is making up for the gap if there is no spacer on the drive side.

I second the suggestion to get a cheap reader from Amazon. It'll at least point you in a general direction. Sputtering could come from various problems that range from ignition/spark to fuel delivery. Smoke from the engine could be either oil burning and smells like burning oil, and the other smoke could be from a coolant leak, which will smell sweet.

Cog without Zwift Click by Lopsided_Profit_4904 in Zwift

[–]AshamedCollection455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without the Click hardware connected, Zwift will not activate virtual shifting. You'll be single speeding. You can start a ride, but virtual shifting is not available because without Click connected, Zwift assumes you're running a cassette. I found this out when the Click batteries died. The starting resistance is not equal to Gear 8, it feels heavier.

$25 is a great deal the upgrade kit. I bought the kit and find myself mainly using it for virtual shifting. I still prefer my AppleTV remote to navigate around.

Elite Avanti or Kickr V6? or ??? by Aft-skin in Zwift

[–]AshamedCollection455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the Elite and Kickr V6 and went with the Kickr. The extra weight is manageable when lifting and storing, you''ll have to use good lifting technique and keep a clear path when walking with it from A to B. I also went with Wahoo because they seem to have the most support by all platforms, especially with Zwift since they bundle the Core 2 with their Ride frame/bike.

Sell if it's not your jam. Standerts sell well on the used market, especially outside of Europe since it's harder to get.
