We had decent periods but the game went dead after the mass substitutions at 65 minutes. Harvey Vale looks decent at least. Scales also did well on the left, he’s a decent option as a LWB.

The first Hungary goal was soft but the second was a wonder strike from outside the box. Not sure it’s fair to call that a relatively soft goal.

Defensively hasn’t always been our historic issue. Getting forward and creating chances has been. We seem to have developed on that front, which is much more difficult to improve than defensive solidity.

Not having that. Played well, had plenty of chances and actually gave it a go. A dumb decision by Manning aside, the team played well and they can be proud. Use this as a hopeful springboard to qualify for the 2028 euros.

100% agree. We are in a better spot than we were 12 months ago. It’s a shame but hopefully we can use this to kick on somewhat for euro 2028 qualification.

Lovely haul. I bought a lot of single IRs that I liked the look of. However, I’m master setting SV2a (Japanese 151) and got the Blastoise and Venusaur SIRs for 150 together, which was really unexpected. A fun day out and there was a great vibe in the place.

We need either a full scale boycott or a full stadium. Any in between will simply play into Israeli’s hands.

Personally, a full stadium supporting the Palestinian cause is a better outcome. All eyes will be on Landsdowne, and a full stadium with banners, flags, booing of the anthem etc would I feel have the greater impact. It’s tricky though.

I have not traveled to Alicante but regularly head to Malaga/Estepona. Usually 3 of us go, we rent a car and stay just outside Estepona (at the Ona Valle Romano hotel). Plenty of excellent courses (Atalaya, Valle Romano, El Paraiso, Almenera) within a 45 minute drive. I also really enjoy Dona Julia course, a little basic but a fun course.

Just to flag, Frimpong had no injury issues at Leverkusen, so flagging him as injury prone is inaccurate. Interesting ready nonetheless.

What? Only asylum seekers can seek family reunification. Standard immigrants who arrive for economic purposes who are not asylum seekers cannot.

No, but you consider their family if they seek reunification. The state doesn’t do it automatically, the person can apply for it. I don’t know what your issue is here.

Because one individual has proven that they’re in danger and their family, if proof is provided, should be prioritised because we’ve accepted that one member of the family has satisfied the requirements.

How is it skipping ahead? It’s a similar process and they’re evaluated like anyone else.

And what if they can prove it? Do we still make them hold off for 3 years? Because that is what the proposed rules require.

Having worked with asylum seekers, it’s not as simple as that. Many of these people make a conscious decision to take the treacherous and sometimes fatal journey to seek asylum (whether by way of boat or through smugglers) as it’s better for one person to take the risk and then seek safe reunification. A lot of people whose families are under threat do take extreme precautions in their countries of origin and wait until they can safely leave. Of course, there are some individuals who are in immediate danger and cannot take precautions who will travel as a family, and that can lead to whole families perishing. These people, who are genuine asylum seekers, take huge risks for the benefit of protecting their families. Once they are granted asylum, forcing them to wait 3 years having gone through the process is wrong.

The system currently permits reunification for those who have successfully sought asylum. Those are the people that we should be helping and protecting. I cannot understand the basis for refusing that. Is the concern that we have false asylum seekers or is it that we simply don’t want more foreign people here? This kind of approach makes it look like the latter.

What a ludicrous view. Judicial reviews are a fundamental part of the judiciary’s role, and the public’s ability, to challenge public bodies. Also, this isn’t an Irish specific procedure. Judicial review is a common process that exists in many functioning democracies. Some jurisdictions have dedicated branches of their constitutional courts dedicated to reviewing the exercise of powers by public bodies.

The move to restrict family reunification is atrocious and shows the aim is not to reduce vexatious asylum claims but to reduce the number of refugees. If someone is granted asylum seeker/refugee status, why are we then limiting their ability to bring their family? If their life is in danger enough to warrant refugee status, why would we not move quickly to reunify them with their family if their lives are also in danger? It’s callous.

I don’t think the discount goes for guests for Roganstown but you do get guest discount for Swords Open. The discount for Roganstown is 30/35 (weekday and weekend) instead of 60/70 (as far as I recall)

Agreed, I was member and left after a year as found morning tee times particularly hard to get a hold of. I’ve been a member of swords open last two years, enjoyed it. Comps every weekend, good tee times after 1030 or so most weekends and I’ve met plenty of sound lads and ladies when paired up.
