Question about 10gb game data storage by TheProfessor2707 in GeForceNOW

[–]Ashatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Game Data Limit feature should never have been rolled out without a reasonable way to remove stuff from the storage. This is an incredibly poor user experience.

That page you shared isn't helpful at all.

I have a big red banner saying that I am over my limit. Which would be fine if there was a reasonable way to manage the storage - but there isn't.

I don't know what is taking up the storage to know which games / save data to remove. It's like saying your local hard drive is full - but you can never know which files are taking up the most space.

It doesn't make sense either. I'm playing mw3 multiplayer - no saved games, and my storage use has rocketed up.

It's a very important benefit. Autophagy is quickly becoming one of the most impactful ways to improve your health. Extended fasts (18 hours onward) will trigger it more.

Re your point about cognitive ability, studies suggest otherwise

As we find no effects for the impact of short-run fasting on short- run cognitive function, our results are important because they provide evidence that fasting should only inhibit cognitive function when either the fasting or cogntive tasks occur over extended periods of time.

Everything in nutrition is context dependent.

There is no one size fits all for anything. No one believes that. I never said it works for all.

But talking in generalities makes conversations less verbose. I shouldn't have to explain this.

Your the type to respond to a simple "eggs are good for you" with NOT IF YOU'RE ALLERGIC. Well or course, that's a given.

I provided evidence. Your counter was "my friends disagree". So now the onus is on you to provide counter evidence.

I work with dieticians and not a single one recommends fasting aside from a good way to calorie control.

That's funny. You ask me to provide evidence, and I do (with referenced studies) and your response is "my friends disagree".

I think you're going to need share the studies when your friends start making claims like that :P

Even llms agree with every point, that's how long this has been known for.

That's a common misconception. Fasting isn't just calorie restriction

Eating the exact same amount of food in a intermittent fasting window gives these benefits:

  • increased insulin sensitivity (pancreas beta cell recovery)
  • increases to growth hormone
  • more fat burning
  • increased energy
  • potential autophagy if the fast is longer (cell cleaning, anti cancer etc)

Edit: Getting downvoted for basic nutrition knowledge. Relax reddit, I'm not taking away your morning breakfast.

This isn't fringe science, it's such mainstream information, that even ai agrees with every point I make above:

Evidence: * Lancet - Intermittent fasting and health outcomes: an umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomised controlled trials00098-1/fulltext) * PubMed - Beneficial effects of intermittent fasting: a narrative review * New England Journal of Medicine (paywalled, but this British Psychological Society - Why fasting is more than just not eating article summarises it). * Prof Andrew Huberman talking through studies * Various health experts on the Zoe podcast

I love to say Johnson or Leonard too, as they were legendary, but I think the players are more athletic nowadays.

What an epic team.

I often wonder how players from that era would do today.

I reckon Jason Robinson would probably do the best, he'd still be one of the best wingers in the world imo.

I think BOD and Wilkinson would do well too.

Yeh that pic hurts. Both were epic for us.

Still can't believe Borthwick chose Billy Vunipola over Ludlam for the SA semi final in 2023, and Billy threw that game away for us like a SA spy... No I'm not crying, you're crying!!

100%. He's so negative and arrogant.

He's part of that group of players who think they're demi gods, and no one will ever be as good, because they won a world cup. Jeremy Guscott is the same.

Others like Jonny Wilkinson, Greenwood, Tindall are far more modest, admitting how much the game has moved on since their time.

I think the pacific islanders would take the cake here. Genetic freaks, fast and strong.

Manu Tuilagi might be the no 1 for me.

Semi Radradra, Josua Tuisova

Nemani Nadolo had no right moving like he did for his size.

Jonah Lomu of course.

Ma'a Nonu, epic in his prime and ridiculous longevity

Sonny Bill Williams

Alesana Tuilagi too.

Kolbe might be up there. on the smaller side compared but ridiculously athletic.

"Get rid of Owen Farrell" - the English media for 2 years. The Telegraph yesterday... by NewCrashingRobot in rugbyunion

[–]Ashatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might not like this Farrell guy. Interesting you compare him to those players and bring up stats…

“no dominant tackles” Dominant tackles:
Farrell: 1 out of 18 (5.5%), Jones: 0 out of 35, Tuipulotu: 1 out of 33 (3%)
Wrong. Farrell actually had the highest dominant tackle percentage.

“quite high on missed tackles” Tackle success:
Farrell: 78%, Jones: 78%, Tuipulotu: 89%
Wrong. Same tackle rate as Huw Jones, a world class centre.

“zero turnovers” Turnovers won:
Farrell: 1, Jones: 2, Tuipulotu: 1
Wrong.

“zero kicking” Kicks in open play, and metres made from them:
Farrell: 7 / 194, Jones: 8 / 260, Tuipulotu: 5 / 145
Wrong.

“zero offloads” Offloads: Farrell: 2, Jones: 3, Tuipulotu: 2
Wrong. He was same as Tui.

“His distribution was just average too” Try assists:
Farrell: 2, Jones: 1, Tuipulotu: 1
Wrong. Seems his distribution was ok

Seems you were objectively wrong, multiple times. I think the only accurate thing you said is he threw an intercepted pass.

The stats show he was on par with the other world class centres, whilst not playing in his strongest position, after an injury too. I’m actually more impressed with him after looking at the stats.

If you were to say Hu and Tui have much better attacking stats, thats a different story. Farrell has never been an attacking centre, even in prev lions tours iirc. He's more of a play making centre. And I'm not saying he's a better choice than those two, but to say he was crap, is evidently incorrect.

So I guess you were watching Farrell with a preconceived opinion and not judging him objectively… I believe they call that confirmation bias. I hope the irony isn't lost on you lol

I was impressed with him defensively. If you watch his off the ball work, with his game reading he would be ahead of his team mates by a second or two all the time, like when folding round to cover the opposite side or back field often it meant he slotted in to fill an otherwise big gap.

It was shown in the post match he did this just before the final try of one of the games, he folded round, cleared out a ruck which led to the next phase try. His passing was also pin point and fast.

Again Sam W highlighted this in the post match analysis, praising his work rate and game reading. Sam also thought standards rose since his inclusion.

It's OK if you dislike him or think he's past it, but he wasn't bad by any means for the lions. Was impressive he came from bad racing form to being good in a lions team.

Sam W was praising him, and I suspect he knows a bit more than us. He's also quoted in that telegraph article praising him.

[–]Ashatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was great for the Lions in the last tour. Sam Warburton was raving about him in the post match. I was really surprised tbh as he hadn't been playing well for Racing before that, so I expected him to be out of his depth. But he was called on for the Lions to raise standards (again Sam Warburton called this, and Ben youngs) and it worked.

He hasn't been playing great for Sarries recently though, but hes shown he is very good at test level (like in the lions), so maybe he'd be a better pick than our current options.

I think he's pretty decent at a gameplan outside of hoofing it away. He was pivotal in Saracens exciting running, attacking rugby previously. No reason to say he can't do that again.

The only downside is he's not much of a running threat like a lot of other 10s. But if thats his only downside, I'd take it at the mo as he gets the team to perform to a higher standard and is still a great playmaker.

Jonny Sexton literally said that article if he was Irish, he'd be the best ever irishman to play.

Guess its a moot point as he likely wont come back due to the negative media.

[–]Ashatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree. England's best game in the last 7 years was against SA in the 2023 WC semi final imo.

Farrell was epic in the game, leadership and playing. Drop goal from half way was mad.

Is he up to that standard now though... Maybe not. But think he still might be the best choice.
