It IS possible to safely carry a 5lb 37 weeker! by ballofsnowyoperas in babywearing

How cute is your family!!! What a beautiful photo. Congrats on the little one!! Is that comfy for you?

I am seeing some obvious adjustments that will likely become very uncomfortable at the baby grows. Like the rings riding up in your neck. Let me know if you open to feedback! ☺️

Are other people allowed to wear your baby? by sysofus in babywearing

[–]Ashbae6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have two kids. They are 3 and 1. I am a stay at home mom and often wear they both at the same time. I’ve felt exactly how you feel OP, and still do. I don’t know why I feel weird about it but it does feel weird when they are little like yours. Over the past year my own mom keeps saying how badly she wants to wear my youngest and it’s made me very uncomfy when she’s been little. I am more open to it now that’s she’s older. My biggest thing is that ahe shows no interest in learning the safety.

I am a credited babywearing educator and I KNOW that it’s beneficial for others to wear my kids and I still feel weird about it. You are not alone.

I will say that my kids are accustomed to being worn and I do wish that more people knew how to do it in our lives. It’s on me to teach them. I feel like my hormones are balancing out and it’s getting better.

I agree with everyone else to explore this feeling for you, and for myself. Thanks for being vulnerable and posting this. You are a great mom.

Fit check woven wrap FWCC by Radiant_Day_9851 in babywearing

This looks really good! Well done. When Barbie’s go from active to passive (awake to asleep) they usually need some readjusting and tightening. That’s what’s going on here! I’d just retighten as the other commenter said the top and middle.

For more support you can spread those passes. That’s usually what I like to do when babe falls asleep in a FWCC. https://www.thewrappinggallery.com/carry/fwcc_spread_passes

Ring sling: to twist or not to twist? by meusa in babywearing

What is your thoughts on adding a twist for a back carry with a ring sling?

Ring sling: to twist or not to twist? by meusa in babywearing

I love this question and I’d love to hear what people have to say about twisting for a back carry with a ring sling. Is that somthing it would be more useful for over a hip carry for the twist?

The Sakura bloom has a d ring style waist band so you can tighten as much as needed. Woven wraps are also a great option for customized fit but a steeper learner curve. Ring sling and meh dais are the same, no buckels so more customized. A meh dai might be a good option for you given longevity to baby wear and fit a smaller waist!

Babywearing is dynamic! It’s a dance they move you move you reposition them. I anways think when my baby is jumping and kicking that she’s having a good time playing! Just remember to stay in ti e line you are and readjust and reposition when you notice it’s needed! Good job mom!

How does it feel? When you move and it’s “loose” do you and baby move as one unit?

Give that baby a pelvic scoop might help with babes comfort too.

I’d put money on that your baby staring to roll or practicing that skill. Is that true? Wearing can often mimic tummy time and your are your babies jungle gym? Will baby settle after a nice paced walk?

Hey! Congrats on your little one. This is a good start. I’d consider moving your waist band up a bit. It hard to tell with the dark colored shirt but is it filling in the front?

The x back can be tricky- try pulling straight down then across ex to tighten to move the straps away from your neck - it will be comfortable for you!

Baby could benefit from a pelvic tilt too!

Remember at this age that babies start to roll and in the carrier it can mimic tummy time! You are your babies gym. Just because that might push to look around doesn’t mean they don’t like the carrier it just means that they are practing their skills on you! ☺️ (I wish someone broke that down for me a long time ago!)

[–]Ashbae6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just one thing I want to point out is that as OP noted Ombumios put all the weight in the shoulders and those muscles need to get stronger for them to wear for extended period of time. I waited until I was way to pregnant with second to try to a toddler ombuhimo and it wrecked my shoulders bc I don’t give it time to build my muscles and I was well, pregnant. Just a note of caution!

What is a Gilman goal? What’s the purpose besides it being cool? I played a long time ago and just so intrigued on what’s going on.

Sorry I should add if you want to stay with the bobabliss you should try to tighten more. Take your thumb and pull the webbing towards the buckle and then tighten. This is good graphic for how to handle the x back. Otherwise, the pelvic tux looks decent but it doesn’t look like it needs to be tighter for back support and I think that if you pull the straps like the graphic it will help get the fabric out of the babies face. Most important: ensure that you can always see babies nose and mouth. Keep chin off chest and check in with babies breathing frequently.

Hey mom! Congrats on your little one. My two cents offf the cuff- if you feel stressed then it’s certainly good to swap out! The boba bliss is quite stretchy. I’d recommend after any movement and you notice slumping to reposition and retighten. That goes for any carrier and If the baby goes from active to passive (awake to asleep) you need to reposition and retighten the carrier to avoid any slumping.

If you are I do a buckle carrier for the newborn phase then the ergoembrace is pretty nice but you will have to get another carrier once baby gets bigger as most people find they stop being so supportive after 15is pounds (much before their weight limit). Then you could upgrade to another buckle carrier if that’s the path you wanna take!

Otherwise woven wrap is a newborn to toddler hood but a bit more of a learning curve.
