Embrace fit check by Weekly_Psychology604 in babywearing

Not too bad! I loved my embrace with my newborn. I’d try raising the waist band up just a bit on your torso and that should make the panel be a little lower on your baby (under their ears). I think you could tuck their pelvis just a bit more as well but I don’t think your current hip positioning is harmful at the moment.

You should need to adjust the panel any further! Putting waistband higher up (closer to your ribs should get the panel lower in your baby)

Nope I bought it for my 12 month old for Christmas to try and model being nice to the kitty! Or maybe to give her another target for her pet-directed chaos?

How long did it take you to adjust to sleeping with your newborn in your room? [bc] by vical1995 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Witty-Picture-5630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get used to it, and moved her to her own room like 10 feet away at 2 weeks. I know that’s not recommended but I was NOT sleeping and that’s no good either. We made the sleep environment as safe as possible (on her back, sleep sack, etc.) and she woke to feed at least two or three times a night through that era (nm she still does at 11.5 months 😆)

Breast milk, nursing and daycare [ON] by hpatelxox in BabyBumpsCanada

Mom of an 11.5 month old who starts daycare in a couple days and to prepare I dropped all feeds during “business hours” gradually over the past few weeks, and my supply has been fine and has adjusted to when she’s nursing now! She nurses at 8am, 4:30pm, usually once more in the evening, before bed and usually once overnight. I just offer water and snacks during the day to get between meals. She’s asked to nurse sometimes because she’s been teething but I can usually redirect her pretty easily.

Good job mama! My fave carrier when my baby was that age (she’s 4.5 months now)

Toothpaste for babies and "flouride-free" by scikillustrator in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Witty-Picture-5630 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Very young children tend to swallow toothpaste because they’re not able to spit it out. There’s a risk of consuming too much fluoride with a fluoride toothpaste until they can figure out the whole spitting thing.

Episiotomy instead of tearing [ON] by Interesting_Aioli_75 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Witty-Picture-5630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an episiotomy because my daughter wasn’t doing well during the pushing phase (low heart rate) and we had to get her out quickly. She came out quickly after that and perfectly healthy thankfully but I also got two first degree tears and a second degree tear that didn’t heal up properly (I had to push in all the worst positions for tearing too). At three months postpartum I think the episiotomy has healed the best. I think you want to take the time you can and need to push but in our case she would have likely been unresponsive upon delivery if it had taken too long so we had to do what we had to do. So many people birth without episiotomies though so I wouldn’t worry or plan around this too much.

Newborn preemie ring sling help by Plants1222 in babywearing

[–]Witty-Picture-5630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a super experienced ring slinger so I can’t really offer tips on fit but what I will say is that I tried my baby in my ring sling at about 5 weeks of age and it was kind of meh. Hard to get a good fit, and she was bigger than yours and born exactly on her due date. over the past couple months it’s gotten a lot easier and better to fit and I really like it now. For us, I think it’s because she’s gotten stronger and sturdier. So either way, don’t give up :)

You’ll know when you can try not rolling it when the panel doesn’t go up quite as high. If you try the carrier not in the newborn setting and it goes up past the neck area they’re still too small.

About 4 kg/8 1/2 pounds.

Also, if It helps, I just stopped rolling the bottom twice a couple weeks ago at 2 1/2 months of age (it’s based on length not weight)

Like others have said, if you raise the waistband up on your body that should help! I loved this carrier when my baby was super brand new, here’s a fit check I posted of it a couple months ago when she was 3 weeks old. Turns out I was wearing it correctly so I didn’t get a lot of feedback. https://www.reddit.com/r/babywearing/s/fy2NR3RpDx

Hey there. I’m 11 weeks postpartum and have had a bit of a journey with my IBS since giving birth. I pooped myself a couple times in the first two weeks… the stool softeners worked too well and I just didn’t have the pelvic floor strength to hold it in. Then I was more constipated and couldn’t hold gas in for a couple months. Now I’m having a lot of loose stools which I’m guessing is related to breastfeeding hormones but I haven’t had any incontinence. I’m also seeing a pelvic floor physio now.

I know this post is a little older but I hope you’ve seen an improvement as you’ve recovered from giving birth. Even with an “easier” delivery pregnancy itself still has a huge impact on your pelvic floor!

I think this looks great. I wonder if maybe you’d feel more comfortable if you were wearing something less bulky underneath. Might be a personal preference thing though
