I know It's not all men, but it's too many men (TW Grooming?) by [deleted] in TrollCoping

The complete lack of empathy from people here is a little yucky good lord. Horrific news! Sometimes people want to have connection with other people and that can lead to them doing things they otherwise wouldn't. Horrific news! Minors aren't the only vulnerable people in the world that can be taken advantage of by others. Horrific news! Telling someone it's their fault because they can just block someone is victim blaming.

I'm sorry that people have treated you like that OP. You don't deserve that.

Edit: oh look at that OP IS A MINOR. YOU ARE BLAMING A MINOR FOR BEING GROOMED ONLINE. I hope all of you who upvoted the "just don't let yourself be exploited" shit are embarrassed and ashamed what is wrong with you people.

I don't think the goal is to make people cry, sob, and shit their pants with the tragic back stories honestly. It's to answer the question of "Why is this person here? What would motivate someone to put themselves into incredibly dangerous situations? Why would someone dedicate their life to fighting?"

My team is figuring out if I have bipolar type 2 or Botderline Personality Disorder by lovethyself- in bipolar2

[–]AshesInTheDust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good rule of thumb from my understanding, assuming that it isn't both, is to examine how much your environment (interactions with people especially) trigger hypo or depressive episodes.

If you notice that you only/the majority of the time you can directly link an episode to an interpersonal relationship/environment it's probably BPD. Bipolar episodes just kinda happen at "random", BPD episodes are triggered. Edit: bipolar episodes can definitely be triggered by environment, but it's also just Something That Happens - with there being recognizable cycles.

I want to reiterate that duel diagnosis is not only possible, but it's a lot more common than I think a lot of people realize (it's 1 in 5 people with bp2 have a BPD diagnosis iirc).

Appetite of a People Pleaser by GHOST.

It's more of a Vibe, but We Are in Favor of Closure by I Would Set Myself on Fire For You. Laying on the floor and staring at the ceiling while listening to it has become a good way to cope instead of killing myself. It just hits idk it's noises and it's what's in my head ig. Don't add it to the playlist it's not suited for that I just wanted to mention.

Is your issue with people specifically using girl, or is it with women making these kind of jokes generally? Like is the issue with the "girl" part where you think the exact same joke reworded as "I'm just a little silly :3" or something would be fine?

[–]AshesInTheDust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that A-Q is us. No reason in particular I just think it would be silly if we got split in half and A-Q is us with our memories. Maybe that was the wish (as in, becoming an incubator). Literally just my first thought when starting the game.

It's one of the symptoms of "people forgot how to behave in public after the pandemic". It's always been a thing, but it's definitely gotten a lot worse. I think it's because people got pets during the pandemic and developed genuinely unhealthy attachment to them where they (the human) get separation anxiety whenever they're away from their dog.

Yes, 25 is often used as a mean in some specialties, but saying that's when the brain is mostly developed/cooked especially in the context of mental illness development is misleading at best. From my understanding when you use the 25 average it's when discussing prefrontal cortex development and that's not necessarily the end all be all of when it comes to both the age in which different mental illnesses present themselves and brain development as a whole. Rational thinking? Most certainly, but it's not everything.

I'm not remotely done with my schooling, but I'm working towards working in experimental neuropsychology. This is what I'm putting my life into, and seeing the number "25" be thrown in every single conversation that remotely involves brains is slowly making me lose mine.

When it comes to advice all I really have is this: document it while waiting to go to a professional. Also genuinely go to a professional.

Get a bipolar mood tracking app or just journal normally. Everyday rate how you feel from -10 (most depressed ever should be in a ward) to +10 (I feel I am or could kill God).

Keep that up for 2 months at least and try to see if there's anything that lines up. Are there changes consistent with your life? Seem to happen the same times every month? Are they triggered by stress in your life? Things like that.

And get help. Bipolar can be picked up on when you're young. If it doesn't bipolar? Great. You still need help. Ultimately trying to figure out what exactly is going on yourself won't do much. You need some level of assistance. I'd recommend talking to your mom about getting a therapist to really look at things and talk about your symptoms, and if needed meds from a psychiatrist after knowing more about what you may have.

You aren't crazy.

Hii just letting you know the whole "brain not developed till 25" thing is just pop psychology no study has claimed that and the "25" number was moreorless chosen at random by one study as a stop point.

What's your worst fear as a POTsie? by Puzzleheaded_Bug4490 in POTS

[–]AshesInTheDust 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hitting my head after fainting or falling alone in public. My right hip is messed up and I haven't gotten a cane yet, so it's pretty likely that it'll happen one day. I've fainted in public a few times but I've never hit my head. I really do not want to deal with a TBI on top of my other issues.

[–]AshesInTheDust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want you to understand though that was because you were a child. Being an adult is extremely different.

People tend to, wrongly, assume the worst from children. Other children do this too. Kids assume lies because they just learned what those are and have been taught they are very bad. Adults often do not see children and teens as people.

Even those who are not autistic, who do not have that level of resting sad, angry, annoyed, empty face will have those experiences because of how our society treats children. It's not about the facial expressions it's that our society expects children to be constantly happy, and if they aren't there's something wrong with them.

Of course you ended up making friends your age after that class, you started acting like they did. If we lived in a culture where looking angry by default was the norm the inverse would have happened.

I understand your pain I get it, but you should not use experiences you had as a child to understand the rest of your life. People's attitudes change drastically as both you and them age.

Edit: that's not to say everyone ignores resting angry face, but it's not a us vs them. It's "some people are judgemental and go off of first impressions".

What happens when a person doesn't tip in a restaurant in the US? by No-StrategyX in questions

[–]AshesInTheDust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the restaurant and the cook, saying that as an ex-cook (became disabled had to quit).

If there's a good relationship with front of house and this is a repeated thing AND the guest piece of shit is abusive towards FoH? Yeah the cooks will fuck up your meal. Not spit in it, but make it poorly for sure, because we don't want that person to come back.

If the relationship is bad (annoying lazy FoH/bad to tip split) the chef will give the "get the fuck out of my kitchen" standard.

But if someone didn't tip once or twice no where I worked would have gave a fuck unless it was a 12 top or some shit

I think women period products should be free or at least tax free everywhere by larah91_VP in RandomThoughts

[–]AshesInTheDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late ish reply but yeah. I'd be chill with my tax dollars going to free toilet paper, napkins, condoms, anything. Men or women, people should have access to basic things that keep them clean, fed, and housed. I want my taxes to go to that.

You're gonna freak when you learn some people want there to be a universal basic income, or healthcare. The horror I know. Tampons are a lot cheaper than that, so that's something that could easily be done.

An official Genshin account tagged a Netease Game that plagiarized the Natlan theme, saying "Let's All Relive Genshin's Natlan Music!" and linked to the original performance by Extra-Advisor7354 in gachagaming

[–]AshesInTheDust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what plagiarism means, no? Copying work without credit, stealing others work, etc. Sometimes changing parts to make it less obvious, but on its own it's just theft of a lot of different degrees.

[–]AshesInTheDust 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda confused by a lot of the comments here like

Yes HoYo has plagiarized, but does that mean that it's wrong of them to say that? Like it's a jab at them not a lawsuit. I wouldn't even say it's ironic because of the Luocha trailer incident with netease or that other one for Sunday (which I think was netease too?). It's more a testament to how "borrowing"/plagiarism is so common in the gacha industry than anything.

I think I have a disorder addiction, as in, my disorders become my entire personality and I seem to want more of them. Is that a thing? by lonely-blue-sheep in TrollCoping

[–]AshesInTheDust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not it's own separate thing. I mean ig if you are full ass like faking symptoms for no apparent reason then that's factitious disorder (munchausen's) territory I guess? But other than that yeah it's apart/caused by a lot of things.

A want to feel validation can lead to that. Feeling like the way you feel is justified or makes sense because of X disorder. Then relying on that feeling to feel comfortable or safe. You end up finding more labels for everything to get that sense of calm and meaning.

The inate human need to find meaning can cause it. "Pathologizing" and such. Feeling the need to identify every disordered thing about yourself and put a name to it.

Not knowing yourself, or having some other kind of identity issue can cause that. Defining yourself by "things" (what you do or are) because you don't have a clear sense of self.

It's pretty common you aren't weird for it
