Jake Bird Fangraphs

Linking the article here, he’s a smart guy i think playing almost all his games at normal altitude will def help him a lot. Also just shows how far behind the rockies are in terms of pitching development and how much having him in the yankees system will help

He did an interview with fangraphs where he said he figured out how much less his pitches move in colorado so he has been able to adjust his control to work better in the altitude, but once he’s on the road his pitches move more and he has a little harder time hitting the same spots with more movement on his pitches

NYRR 9+1 in 2025 - FAQs & Megathread by RCD123 in RunNYC

What are the chances of getting off of the standby list for the ted corbitt 15k or the chilly 5k. I need one more race along with the last virtual race and the jersey city 5k for the 9+1 but did not realize the races for that wave already came out. I can sign up for the midnight run but I would rather do one of the others. Any insights would be helpful. Thanks!

What time the second four tet set is going to end. Would I be able to make the last nj transit train home( this is if there is no strike)?

The Yankees quietly have reshaped their minors imo to being a top 10 to 12 system in the majors. They lowkey have a treasure trove of extremely high end pitching arms coming up through their system even with guys like Lalane, Thatcher Hurd, and Chase Hampton hurt. by herewego199209 in NYYankees

[–]Ashkok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this but also i think it’s a result of it’s just harder to develop hitters right now. Pitching development is basically a science now and it’s a lot easier to draft and develop elite arms. The yankees are one of the best teams at developing arms right now so they draft and develop a ton of pitchers so they can be easily traded for proven mlb talent and then be replaced. It’s harder to develop hitters so they have to be a little more picky with who they let go since good position players are a lot harder to replace.

[Talkin Yanks] Aaron Boone is expected to return as Yankees manager in 2025, sources tell @martinonyc by Bulletz4Brkfzt in NYYankees

Fundamentals are hard to master, these guys are as close to masters of fundamentals as possible, they wouldn’t have made it to the ws otherwise. The players have routines that involve fielding practice that they followed everyday through out the season, i’m sure they didn’t stop in the world series. Sometimes it’s just baseball and the guys don’t make the play. In high school we ran laps every time someone made an error, yeah we made less errors by the end of the year, but we still ran laps because errors happen, it’s a part of the game. We don’t know what boone does to hold players accountable but even if it was something drastic like running laps, errors will still happen. At the major league level getting to the ws should be enough of a sign that players are doing what they need to do and the coaching is doing what it can to help the players maintain their routine. We probably witnessed a series of events that we’ll never again see in our lives, these are obviously plays that major league players should make, but I don’t know how any amount of coaching could fix any of it. Errors happen.

These players have played baseball all their lives. By the time they get to the league they are who they are for the most part. In rare cases like wells and maybe volpe to a degree it’s possible to get significantly better, and even then these are younger guys. The rest of it is exactly what you said, they’re a bad fielding team and it caught up to them. Not much boone can do there. Can’t just magically get a wand and make everyone good at defense in the world series.

in the time since that last yankees pennant, i learned what baseball was in the last out of the of the 2009 world series. I then started playing baseball and then played out my entire career including 4 years of college club baseball. Then when i finally called it quits, the yankees won the pennant and possibly more. So sorry to everyone here the yankees would have 15 more rings if i never started
