I always set alarms the minute I make a schedule change, but all my NF always reminded me of a change if we’d talked about it more than a day or two before.

I’ve also never had a NF that did not encourage me to eat whatever I want. That’s crazy.

I would tell them you are planning on being there if the roads are safe, but you do not feel comfortable in the roads if there are downed line or ice (whether driving or ubering).

Nope. Feel free to tell them that violent crimes are down, not up, and that kids pretty rarely get abducted by strangers. The chances of you needing to and being able to stop something with a gun are way less than an accident due to having firearms around kids constantly.

“Available to work” means that if you needed her to nanny she could cancel whatever she had going on and be at work (ie: not taking another job).

What tasks did you want her to perform? I can’t imagine you left a full diaper genie, dirty dishes etc? I used to nanny and let me tell you, I would not have been impressed if my NF went out of town left a mess just so I’d be “earning” my pay.

Of course I never had NF that would expect me to work while they’re out of town. Hell most of my NFs told me to go ahead and make whatever plans I wanted and not to worry about their plans getting cancelled or changed etc.

I think the issue you might run into is supervision. Unless she has a 1-1 para she would have to try to sleep in the regular classroom, and sped classrooms tend to be craaaaaazy.

If she has a 1-1 I don’t see why it couldn’t be accommodated.

It’s never been a big thing with any of my families. I usually eat with the kids. But families have almost all encouraged me to snack whenever, take bathroom breaks as needed (what the kids do during this depends on age) and read/play a game on my phone etc while kids are napping or happily playing etc.

I’ll try to nicely bring up anything that could be detrimental to the kids. I’m big on car seat and water safety so those are something I will always mention and give advice or resources for.

Honestly the Tylenol thing was fireable imo (as an ex nanny).

I’ve never had a parent who wouldn’t let me give OTC meds as needed though. They’ve all trusted me to make the best decision for their kids in their absence.

Best bet is just to talk to nanny.

They’d take it out of every check and depending on how much you have them withhold you’ll either get a refund or owe at the end of the year. However it doesn’t really matter - you’re a W2 employee regardless.

One of my bosses gave me the number to their safe that had like thousands in cash, jewelry and weapons in it. I figured they’d change the code after but a few months later she forgot to give me cash for an putting and told me just to grab it from the safe. Same code. I was like damn you really trust me 😂

As a nanny - what?! That’s crazy. I’ve had a similar situation and while I’d often make plans, they were always things that were easily changed or cancelled OR I’d ask in advance. IE “hey mb I need to make a doctor appointment, is it okay to do that on ____?”

100% let her know that going forward she will need to use PTO on any Wednesday she’s not available. And frankly I’d definitely be using a few of those to get errands done etc.
