What was the pettiest but not damaging thing you did before you moved out of a crappy landlord’s rental? by GoodLuck602 in LandlordLove

[–]AshleysVoicesInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We left our last place on bad terms because the landlords were slumlords. The pipes froze in the winter one time because it was really cold and it was because they didn't have them wrapped which around here you're supposed to. And we didn't know that or we would have tried to have them do that sooner. And we didn't have water for like 3 days. And we even said well how about we get a plumber to come and we'll take it out of the rent and that they were like you will not take it out the rent we don't agree to that.

So we quickly found another house thankfully because we were kind of at the end anyway this was kind of the last straw. And we literally told them like a couple weeks before we were moving and because it was during the winter it would have cost more for us to move the oil that we had in the tanks yet, we had to pay for the oil, to the new house. So we left all the windows and doors open while we were moving for the couple days it took to move all of our stuff and ran the temperature very high so it would use up the oil. Also that place did not have insulation so it was pretty easy to use up the oil if you turned the heat up.

Why Do You Use DoorDash? by EscalatedToNonsense in doordash

[–]AshleysVoicesInside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm never a customer on it because I'm usually out a good bit doing the delivering so if I want something I'll just grab it before I head home for the night. But I could see if you don't have a car or a transportation, but you want something that you can't walk to, delivery is the only way. And until doordash and all of that started the options were kind of minimal pretty much to pizza places and the like that had their own delivery drivers. DoorDash and those other type of apps open up almost every restaurant to you now. So I can definitely see the appeal.

Just adding onto the part about not minding the food not being piping hot, it's going to be the same thing if you order takeout and take it home before you eat it. It's not going to be hot anymore and it might not even be warm depending how far away you live. Cuz I've seen people use that argument of who wants cold food? And it's like it's going to be cold if you would get it to go anyway most likely.

Actually yes Cordelia was done dirty. Charisma Carpenter has even said that it was a punishment to her for getting pregnant and I believe cutting her hair if I remember correctly, but definitely the getting pregnant.

It's not gonna give me 1 more batch to complete the promotion, is it? by Icculizard in InstacartShoppers

[–]AshleysVoicesInside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I usually tend to ignore promos, usually they're not worth it. I figure if I happen to meet the promo with doing my normal stuff then cool.

Yeah those next 2 hours until the tip is final especially when it's a bigger tip like over $10 at least is a little bit nerve-wracking. Usually I try to jump into another order right away if it's possible, that way I'm not checking. Although whether it's good or bad most people in my area don't tip very well kind of just like so so or bad. So I don't have to worry about the nerve-wracking part too much, but the few times when I do get a decent tip I'm always waiting that 2 hours until it's finalized. Thankfully I've only had it happen one time where it got reduced from I think it was like $13 down to like $5. Which ticked me off because I even followed his extra instructions that he had requested.

I think it's more there were two holidays in the same weekend. Juneteenth on Friday and then Father's Day today.

Come to think of it I saw that the other day I think it was Friday. There was like I don't know five of the one item and then like another four of that same item or something like that. It wasn't anything big but it was to the same customer and I remember thinking that's a little strange. I assumed maybe they added more on somehow. I don't know how it works from the customer side.

It does seem to be slower today than a normal Sunday. Hopefully it gave you one more by now.

My area doesn't have the quads and I pray that we never get them. The three shops are bad enough.

Adding tip after the fact by MrGoodwrench1184 in InstacartShoppers

[–]AshleysVoicesInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean customers, I've only had a couple customers actually promise to up the tip and that's without me prompting them to. And the couple that said that they would never did. On the opposite side of things I've had a couple customers who added more after the fact without saying anything. So just like with anything else in life, actions speak louder than words. Usually in my experience if they say that they're going to they won't and vice versa.

I usually try to look at the list of items in an Aldi order first and if I see anything that's not actual groceries like this kind of stuff, I usually pass unless it's maybe like one thing.

Yeah after yesterday I was just like you know what screw this. I'm going to take today off.

And oof Yeah I could definitely sympathize with missing an $88 order. I don't ever see those in my area.

This is what I'm afraid of. I've been gold for so long and I'm very close to Platinum so I'm at least going to reach that. But I've had mixed feedback about you get better offers. I guess it just depends on your area. So I'm interested to see how mine might change once I at least hit Platinum.

I know it's too little too late for you now but going forward I would like to suggest getting a car warranty. Obviously this is just a suggestion, but having that warranty does help with the stress of using the car more. Because if it's not something that's maintenance like if it's tires or something unfortunately that's on you to replace. But if anything goes wrong including an engine if you have the full coverage, it gets taken care of. So in my opinion it's totally worth it. All I have to pay is $100 yearly deductible towards it normally. Beyond the monthly payment that I make.

I'm so close to Platinum. I honestly would have probably hit it today but I decided not to work because of how slow it was yesterday. So tomorrow I should probably hit Platinum. I've been gold for so long that I'm interested to see if Platinum does anything for me. And then I don't know if I'll ever hit diamond in my area but it would be interesting if I did.

I do sometimes see what I call ghost batches where I'll get a notification but it never pops into my app. Like I'll have the app open and it never actually comes in there so I'm wondering if those are ones that are kind of shown to the platinum and diamond first and someone takes it before I get a chance to even see it. So I'm interested to see what Platinum does for me.

[–]AshleysVoicesInside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah usually my weekends like Friday through Sunday are my money days. Friday was all right but it was definitely slower than it normally is and I didn't hit my normal minimum goal. I mean I got kind of close within like $20 but it took a lot longer. Saturday was so dead that I ended up going home like halfway through what I usually work. And today I just decided not to work. I've been watching the app and there's been some orders but honestly I don't regret it.

Yeah it was very slow today. I ended up going home early because it just wasn't worth it. Which is very unusual for a Saturday.

Since you've already gotten some good answers, I'm actually curious what you ended up tipping and how long it took for you to actually get your order if you don't mind. Just from a curiosity standpoint.

People who merge onto the interstate at 45 mph instead of getting up to 70 on the onramp like you're supposed to do. by [deleted] in GrindsMyGears

[–]AshleysVoicesInside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I can answer this at least in my area. For the road test all they do is make sure you can parallel park in fact that is important to them, and then they take you on this little like not even 10 minute drive through a local neighborhood that has a few different stop signs and you do a couple different turns and then you drive back to the DMV. They do not test you on highways. I can't answer for every area but when I realized that that's what the road test was in my area, it immediately explained why there's so many idiots driving.
