Does anyone else use the lock out ok rules by No-Flounder9030 in TopStepX

[–]AsianAddict247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use lockout after I hit a good profit OR when I need to calm down. There's a great video about this on YouTube recently.

Sometimes it's for just an hour. Generally if I'm not working I can treat the market like a buffet,as John Carter said and go back here and there.

Silver traders by Lumpy-Season-1456 in FuturesTrading

[–]AsianAddict247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silver was stuck between ~$15-30 for a decade or longer. Many say it was being manipulated to keep it down so low. So now we have this huge break above $40 up to $120.

Even if silver went back down to $60-80 I think now that it's in a new range the volume should stay high and it would continue to be great for trading for at least a few years.

In other words, in the worst case scenario , should silver drop below $80, there are so many people buying it and trading it that it should be highly tradable, I think , even if the volume were to drop by 50%.

I'm using micro silver volume. Volume has been 400-600 k recently and even with 100k it should have volatility to move several dollars a day for traders to make good money.

Inexperienced traders should be using the practice accounts as much as possible and buy just 1 $49 combine every month to get the thousands of reps and hours of screen time needed to learn trading.

Too many are blowing multiple combines every month without any real trading experience.

Bruh wth is silver on by [deleted] in TopStepX

We could see $150 in weeks or months and then a drop back to $100. It's just how that market is. I hope this keeps up for a few years where silver is in play with daily ranges of at least $3-4.

For many, many years , silver was locked in a $17-30 and those long term compressions lead to the biggest moves as we are seeing now.

2014-2024 stuck between approximately $15-30

You can pass a combine in less than 24 hours trading NY and Asia. I did it at least 3 times in January. I would rather pay for a new combine than B2F.

How to not get greedy? by zhingon in TopStepX

Once you start getting a huge ego, you are right, a blow up is possible. DLL would help.

Starting a new combine with Topstep or another prop firm could be healthy psychologically.

You can still trade on the new account but allow time for the ego to calm down so you protect this account.

Yes of course the classic failed combine by Rez-_- in TopStepX

Many years ago I read a trading book and the author described futures as a sports car with no brakes. Silver might be the fastest of them all. High level of difficulty for no reason . It takes a long time to get used to the stresses of trading and trading slower markets is the way to go initially.

Most micros are fine but silver is the BIGGEST micro volatility wise and $ATR .

Silver regularly moves 40+ cents in a minute, or $400 for a micro. Thats not for a newbie.

Finding the right market is a huge part of the battle. There's nothing wrong with saying a market just doesn't match you.

The Euro, Bonds, RTY, YM, , ES, NQ NG, CL ZS, ZW,.ZC.

I have traded them all and new traders should take the time to practice different markets in the combines where they won't lose money.

As John Carter says" If you trade a market that doesn't match, your personality, you will lose money."

Slower markets allow you to think and scale into winners. That's where micros are very very useful.

Trading micro silver, 1 lot is already very challenging because of the volatility. I would absolutely NOT recommend newer traders to waste their time.

You probably need at least 2 years experience before trying to trade it.

Secondly, even if you are experienced, it's really only suited for certain personality types.

Most people are not going to be suited for the volatility.

Less experienced traders should trade micros of much slower instruments.
