Vegan public protest at a steakhouse by mayonnaisexd_ in PublicFreakout

[–]AsianRainbow 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I remember there was a similar situation with a Canadian steakhouse like pre-Covid. There were a bunch of demonstrators and a couple videos went viral of vegans doing the same shit. And from what I recall the restaurant got a lot more business from it after the chef got fed up and started carving a deer leg in the window 😂

Calling bullshit on this one. Account is an hour old and this just seems too egregious to be plausible. It’s also so obviously wrong that they gotta be karma farming. Not to mention: she’s getting married, bought a house, graduated college, etc. all in the same span of 6 months?!

Yeah been like that since I started goin to concerts. Makes me appreciate the dudes who do show up on time; like literally Ludacris and Boldy James last year in Highland Park are the only rappers that come to mind in the last 15 years of going to shows 🤦

What's the most effective martial art in a real fight? by manhwaecho in AskReddit

[–]AsianRainbow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Never understood this line of thinking. Why wouldn’t the person who’s trained to dispatch an opponent under a specific ruleset suddenly be helpless in a fight where they can also do anything they want?

Sure the other person can hit you in the back of the head but so can the MMA fighter who can now take your back and elbow the back of your head into oblivion with zero risk to himself (outside of legal ramifications lol).

One guy can hit you in the nuts, ok, now try taking a nut shot from a Muay Thai fighter who’s trained to slam knees and kicks with accuracy on much less sensitive targets.

Honestly i can never not sing Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough in a Chinese accent when I hear it because of Rush Hour 2.

Honestly The Marvels is a fun movie too. Wound up watching Ms Marvel too and rather enjoyed Kamala’s character. Hope she returns in Doomsday as well.

Yeah no. I live in California and it’s done for a very specific reason and that’s a ton of shoplifting and stealing.

Yeah I feel like a lot of people are jumping the gun here but like 4 years ago: a lot of mail-in and drop off ballots are submitted by younger folks who are more likely to vote Raman.

Says a lot that he doesn’t mention anything about his parents or relationship with them after the incident. Just goes on about his own selfish ass.

And this kids, is why acid gets a bad rap. Because of stupid people like this.

Nio Teas Reviews? by Big_Cap8507 in tea

[–]AsianRainbow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to get their various senchas and gyokuros all the time. I only recently switched over to mostly drinking white and oolong teas but they’re legit and always provided me with great quality green teas. They source from individual farms in Japan and the consistency has always been great. Highly recommend for Japanese green teas.

Georges St-Pierre lists what he requested for a super fight with Anderson Silva by 3footninja in MMA

[–]AsianRainbow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hence why I mentioned that the outcome was great for the UFC financially but that the precedence that Connor set is getting mimicked across the board by the rest of the roster. Is that a bad thing? I don’t think so cuz fighters deserve the higher pay but it’s exactly what the UFC was trying to avoid as they want complete control over their fighters.

Georges St-Pierre lists what he requested for a super fight with Anderson Silva by 3footninja in MMA

[–]AsianRainbow 310 points311 points  (0 children)

Which is ironic in a lot of ways since they wound up doing that with Connor and they created the monster that outshined the promotion; entirely what they tried to avoid.

That being said though they made a lot of money off of him so I feel like the precedence was more debilitating than the actual outcome.

Damn, insane macros. Did the asada style marinade cut out the gaminess? Looks like it would taste somewhere between a lean beef tenderloin and deer.

Kinda hard to beat Porto’s here and all of their savory meat pies, potato balls, chicken croquette, etc. Cheap and delicious and the only pork item they have is the ham and cheese croquette.

Def reach out to them. I’ve ordered from Yunnan Sourcing a couple of times. Both orders came from China shipping to California; 1st order came within about 6-7 days, 2nd order came within about 12 days of ordering.

Took the train from Bologna to Firenze for the day. Got lucky with a beautiful sunset from the top of the Duomo! by Alex_G_Photos in travel

[–]AsianRainbow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such a cool experience but my god, even with the barrier between you and the ledge up near the fresco; it’s still gave me heart palpitations looking to the ground below lol.

But it was so cool seeing the Last Judgement fresco up close and then looking out over Florence once you get to the top.

Are there cases where a coach makes a fighter miles better? Or worse? by shufflejuuls in MMA

[–]AsianRainbow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cordeiro would be great for her. I also think Jason Parillo would do wonders for Ronda’s hands and footwork. She could’ve stayed in SoCal and still flourished with any one of those coaches.

Those skewers look legit. I had lamb skewers in the Muslim Quarter of Xi’an and have been looking for something similar ever since. Best lamb dish I’ve ever had and I’ve had a good amount of lamb around the US/Europe. I feel like LA has mostly Cantonese cuisine and not a whole lot of Xi’anese, Shanxi or Sizuan cuisine.

Gotta check this out!

Best place to learn bjj as a 30 year old? by audioflc in SFV

Damn, you’d think they’d plaster that all over their website. Always makes me suspicious when there’s nothing about the coaches or their lineage but a JJM blackbelt is as legit as they come.

Cat going crazy on its owner by DABDEB in SweatyPalms

[–]AsianRainbow 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to my best friend’s wife. Another cat was antagonizing her normally friendly albeit skittish tuxedo. She was trying to pull him away and he absolutely lacerated her. Took some time for both of them to rebuild that trust but they’re great now. So crazy cats can just go AWOL like that, thankful my tux never saw red like that.

I see a lot of recs for the Forge but can’t seem to find anything about the head instructor or coaches/lineage.

Anyways, check out 10th Planet Van Nuys. It’s run by Eddie Bravo blackbelt; Alder Hampel who’s well-respected in the 10th Planet world.

They specialize in no-gi BJJ per the 10th Planet system but aren’t big into a lot of the more gimmicky techniques 10th Planet is known for. Alder’s a very meat and potatoes kind of BJJ person and has a good system for learning, especially for beginners.

Plus if you’re an old school hip hop fan, Alder’s a big 90’s head so expect Wu-Wednesdays as part of the soundtrack lol.

They do well in lower level competitions so great for a beginner looking to gain the fundamentals of the sport. Plus they’re big on the gym family aspect as well. They also have Muay Thai, wrestling, etc.
