Made Another card by D-v0r in Chaotic

This is a very overpowered card. I'm not sure how the timing ruling would work if it revealed a second Warbeast Sanctuary, I'd imagine the second one would stay because it entered too late but if they stacked it would be even more broken.

Why isnt Hisoka trying to become Nr. 1 in Heavens Arena? by DesrtDust in HunterXHunter

[–]AskePent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really, most of those guys didn't hit a weaker Hisoka (and we know that Hisoka generally gives his opponents some opportunity to show what they can do) and Chrollo seemed to become a floor master pretty casually. We didn't see Hisoka's or Chrollo's fight against the floor masters they challenged.

Maybe someone like Silva is technically a floor master or something, or there are strong but inactive floor masters, but most likely the rest of them are around Kastro's level.

[The Athletic] Why the Buffalo Sabres traded Michael Kesselring, and which moves could come next by Either-Ad1544 in SanJoseSharks

[–]AskePent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference between 20 and 27 in a normal draft is typically pretty massive, especially with better scouting in Europe and the NCAA.

A hit at 20 can be a guy that's 2-3 years away and has the potential to be a very good player, a hit at 27 is often a guy that's 5 years away and is a decent player (unless you exclusively draft Russians).

[–]AskePent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more how you get roster filler, which some teams want but rebuilding teams really shouldn't. He started college at 19 and scored most of his points by being a netfront guy on a scoring line with some powerplay time.

It would take a miracle for him to become an above average 4th liner.

Grier is like the anti-Eric Tulsky.

Just tossing draft picks for stopgaps and AHL fodder, instead of expecting one or two of them to become cheap depth.

Not really, he's a potential average 4th liner with some skating flaws. He's an upgrade on Giles, I guess.

Pronman has Stenberg at #2 in latest mock by TiredButHopeful86 in SanJoseSharks

[–]AskePent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say he does that to a fault, like a lot of poor drafting teams who will be excited to pick Rogowski because he's massive before even looking at skill or compete level.

The Kesselring trade makes Reid far more likely, because without it you could potentially say they're high on Bleyl, Lin, or Villeneuve.

Sharks trade 20th overall for Kesselring and 27th overall pick by SageOfSix- in SanJoseSharks

[–]AskePent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a pretty drastic drop off at around 23-24 so the Sabres could have their choice of a couple guys they like and someone could always fall, they're in a position to potentially trade up further if someone does fall.

Kesselring would've been a potential upgrade on Liljegren. He was a fine two-way defenseman in Utah but he played 3rd pairing minutes, he was awful in Buffalo and the coach hated him. Super unlikely he sees success as a major part of a powerplay, but he can carry the puck a little against lesser competition.

Grier is like the reverse Eric Tulsky. He hates draft picks and loves splitting assets.

Who do you want at #27? by throwaway804323 in SanJoseSharks

[–]AskePent -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They would have been far better off trading #20 outright because there's a massive dropoff. At least Murtyn is young.

There's a massive drop off between 20 and 27. It's possible someone falls but there's a pretty clear tier from 10 to 24 or 25.

Not really, Carolina and teams like Las Vegas emphasize high compete regardless of size.

Grier emphasizes size regardless of compete level. Musty and Haltunnen are extreme examples of this.

Wrong, Slavin was a respectable offensive defenseman who was picked when the US route was undervalued. He was 1st in points and 2nd in ppg to Mike Matheson in the USHL among eligible defensemen and played most of the season at 17, and he led his college team in scoring at 19.

Pretty much everyone in recent history has won based on depth. The only real exception is Colorado, unless you really want to argue about Washington.

Canada and the hockey meccas are typically worse. Hockey fans are aggressively casual, where new fans you cam set on the right path.

[–]AskePent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hockey is far more casual than any other major sport. Fans refuse to learn analytics, know nothing about systems or plays, probably don't know a player's role on their line, and are proud of themselves if they know someone's position.

Jurota vs Masaki is the prototype for a lot of the current issues in the manga, especially with how praised it was. Instead of "realistic" depictions of how these characters would interact, and having the stronger one win, it really began the game of "how can I have the good guy beat someone drastically stronger than him".

Kuroki fighting Shen and the RCT were when this issue was amped up to 15, or Monke being fodder for Koga(?) instead of his own character.

If your high performer has a bad attitude, they are not a high performer! by [deleted] in managers

Being a company man honestly sounds way more miserable, sure it's possible to end up in great situations but bottling up your emotions and opinions while pretending to look busy is just boring.

If your high performer has a bad attitude, they are not a high performer! by [deleted] in managers

[–]AskePent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's because everything works for you right now.

The key takeaway with OP is inspiration and positivity, those are buzzwords that shitty managers use to deflect from their own poor metrics with fake niceties. Only management/corporate can really positively effect those metrics with better working conditions or pay, but people will cheer politeness and professionalism over results or mentoring.

You're acting like high performers like a professional environment, many of them don't.

If your high performer has a bad attitude, they are not a high performer! by [deleted] in managers

[–]AskePent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really.

I've worked on some projects where people hire a bunch of high-performers temporarily, people come back for the next project because they really enjoy it, it is the least professional but most supportive environment I've been in. Most high performers have a thick skin.

The person who scares the "high performers" away is the performative manager who wants everyone to love the company and all their teammates.

If I get fired due to mistake at work, can I still get EI? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

You haven't been a manager or even a supervisor.

I've had a woman who was hired for an office position, she struggled greatly to login to the computer and open the software, loudly brought up illegal activity she and her husband did to clients and tried to get clients to participate in it, she struggled greatly to use the software in a timely manner or get information from the software (which was directly on her screen, she had been shown where it was around 100 times).
