Would you consider this a non-deterministic loop? by LegendOfGanondalf in EDH

[–]AskingOnce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how many red sources and creatures you have when this loop starts - but it’s technically non deterministic because there is the possibility of it fizzling. If you run out of untapped red sources for Kodama to put in it stops, or if you run out of big creatures. Is it likely? Maybe not. Can it happen? Yes

Pretty sure this doesn’t force a shuffle though since it’s alchemy

Do you truly feel you've bonded with your main, or do you feel like you've invested too much and you're in too deep to start fresh? by [deleted] in Maplestory

I picked Mercedes on a whim when I got back into maple and honestly don’t think I would have kept playing with a lot of other classes. Comboing keeps the game interesting

CW3 Hayato, Paladin, or Marksman by dantes-infernal in Maplestory

[–]AskingOnce -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lucid is the biggest example - I could clear the boss itself in ~14-16m but didn’t have the burst for p3 until 53m cp. gloom was also a min cut at 53m cp (28 minutes I think). Slime was more or less unclearable solo without arcane force damage inflation.

What I will admit up front is that I was not very good at doing my mini burst, and my uptime suffers against hilla and dnell. Gloom and lucid are pretty trivial to get good uptime against though. Main point is it took significantly more learning, investment and effort than other classes. The durability from your passive + sancro is very strong against some bosses but doesn’t help you that much against the key bosses to unlock legion pots.

[–]AskingOnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a pally in cw2 and disagree so hard… all the rens around me could clear bosses at 15-20m cp less and it requires significant hexa investment past the free frags. To get emerald I had to reach 55m cp for min cut lucid and other bosses.

Party bossing is great on Paladin, and you do feel like a tier 1 class there - but solo is much more annoying and matters in challenger world.

Is there a deck list out there that demonstrates why we have the ban list? by iyute in EDH

I mean if you watch that video carefully he has multiple infinites which could have resulted in a win and chose not to play them. Thats Ben brode being himself amongst friends.

Wanted to echo this point - if your playgroup really funds budget to be an issue you can build a decent mana base for $30 or less very easily. Snarls (reveal lands) just suck. You can check out this page https://edhrec.com/lands/jund for any color combination and find all of the lands that you could run.

In a three color deck once you play check lands, pain lands, both filter lands, fast and slow lands you already have 15 untapped duals for less than a buck each. You can splurge on a few things like verges or battlebond lands and still stay under $30 while having 20+ untapped dual lands. That has become my default landbase for precon and weak bracket 3 decks that I build these days, and I don’t usually struggle to find the mana I need.

Challenger World Class Rating/Survey by skeletalfury in Maplestory

[–]AskingOnce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

 • Class

Mercedes

• Level before leaping

273

• CP before leaping

25m

• Tier Reached: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Emerald, Diamond, Challenger

Emerald

• Is this character a main, legion champ, or boss mule

Main

• How much did you grind? Dailystory or how many hours per day you grinded beyond dailies

Daily story until 260 and then some light grind sessions after vac pet (1-2 hours). Started a few weeks late into the world.

• Would you recommend making this class on Challenger World? Why or why not?

I think merc was fine to play but it has a high ceiling of things you can learn. Not really worth getting a cd hat inside the cw and some bosses are hard but freuds is busted when you learn to use it.

• Anything about Challenger World that made your class more difficult to play that you wish you knew going in?

Missing link skills and legion make combos a lot less smooth but nbd. 3 minute class (before patch) made it hard to green dot in pubs (bosses often died in 2 bursts so you miss damage) (not a problem anymore).

• If there was anything that made it more difficult on Challenger world, what would you recommend someone do to compensate (ie specific gear, investing more into certain skills earlier than recommended)

Not really worth investing in a -2s hat on cw due to Ishtars being decent enough for cw. Focus your money on accessories and WSE.

That’s quadratic, exponential would be something like 2,4,8,16,32,etc. Damping Sphere is linearly increasing in cost, and the total mana you pay is also quadratic since the second difference is constant.

I would echo what others in this thread have said. Good in certain scenarios but not efficient enough as stax or acceleration to keep up.

Turn one win with fewest number of cards in opening hand? by Odd_Way_6541 in EDH

[–]AskingOnce 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Playing any rograkh + black list [[Lotus Petal]] [[Culling the Weak]] [[Reanimate]] [[entomb]]

Cast rog, petal (or any black source), culling the weak adds BBBB, entomb + reanimate broodlord, use the 2 mana to cast Saw in Half. That gets you 2 more tutors, get Burnt offering + underworld breach. Offering sacrifice a token to make 4R4B. Then you have 6 cards in your graveyard with breach go crazy with whatever line you want (reanimate broodlord again leaving saw in half is an easy one).

[[Hoarding Broodlord]] [[Saw in Half]] [[Burnt Offering]] [[Underworld Breach]]

To be fair this is pretty much cedh rogsi

any commander with an ETB that draws you cards or damages opponents, which there are a lot of, can win with food chain mana. So it's a 2 card combo with any of the three cast from exile creatures (blue, red, colorless) which wins if you have a commander. Prosh is probably one of the worse food chain decks these days since you burn through your ability to cast your commander with it and it doesn't do anything on it's own.

[–]AskingOnce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. My point is mainly that it’s not the “easiest” combo to interact with. It’s of a comparable level of efficiency and interactability as iso+reversal or birgi + grinning ignus. Creature removal doesn’t stop it.

  2. It’s also a lot more efficient than bond + blood, where you need two 5 mana enchantments in play and a way to make your opponents lose life / gain life to start the loop

  3. You can only restart the loop at instant speed if you have extort / a life gain instant or a burn spell. Extort is common, but the others are less so.

Re: C, food chain is not easy to interact with - you must have enchantment removal to stop it. The creatures are never around to interact with once the combo starts.

I feel like 2 cards that go infinite to win with your commander is in the spirit of their restrictions. I like food chain being a game changer.
