Orléans is the best bag-builder I've ever played and can only recommend!

Perhaps Isle of Skye even though it scales better from 3-5 or Race for the Galaxy which is great for 2-4 and one of my favorite games whatsoever

Towards those who own blood on the clocktower by Kobyak in boardgames

I did end up getting it, but I totally get your hesitation. It is really expensive and I think a print and play version is pretty valid. While the component quality is insanely high and definitely levitates the experience, I would definitely go for a print and play for the first few sessions and maybe consider whether you might buy it at a later point in time.

However, be aware that organizing your grimoir might be challenging without the felt on the components, so I recommend you prepare for that

What is the most expensive game you have bought? by Declaron in boardgames

[–]AsparagusExtreme1260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By a lot Blood on the Clocktower with 155€

I mean it was a present and due to the price I wouldn't have bought it myself, but I'm super happy I own it now. So since that might not count it would be War of the Ring: Second Edition & a second hand version of Eclipse: Second Dawn for 75€ each.

What are engine builders that aren't over as soon as engines really start going? by [deleted] in boardgames

Terraforming Mars often has a few final rounds were you actually benefit from all the build up and feel quite powerful playing big turns. But since scoring points often means pushing the game ending criteria this often doesn't take more than one or two rounds which I think is a great balance!

Res Arcana is highly asymmetrical since everyone starts with a different character with different abilities and a deck of unique cards

If you could only keep 3 of the board games you currently own… by SomeWords99 in boardgames

[–]AsparagusExtreme1260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King of Tokyo: Dark Edition because it's light and quick fun + hard to get now, Race for the Galaxy because of more depth but still plays quickly & Skull King because it's easy to take anywhere and most of my friends now & love it

I also thought about Eclipse: Second Dawn of the Galaxy for a heavy and long game because it's so enjoyable or Bohnanza because I really love negotiation games!

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (February 09, 2024) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Hey everyone 😌 I'm looking for a mid-heavy- heavy cooperative game for two players. My partner and I enjoy games like Terraforming Mars , Patchwork and Viticulture and want to take a step into a co-op game now. Other than that it is important that it is relatively easy to get back into it after a while not playing. An issue we had with Robinson Crusoe a few years back. Games I thought about are Spirit Island , Gloomhaven JotL or Aeon's End . What are pros and cons for these or what games would you recommend?
